A movie tie-in? An animated movie tie-in? Your sense of indifference is palpable. But really, Wall-E as a movie looks pretty great. And going solely on this footage of its adaptation, the game's not looking particularly awful either. Especially the bits towards the end that - bear with me - put off a very Dark Forces vibe.

Short Circuit: The Game
It looks cute. Was anyone else reminded of Metriod when he went into his little 'cube' form?
Just to bring back terrible memories for everyone:
R.O.B. - E
Hey looks pretty cool.
Impressive physics for a movie tie in. Could this be the paradox breaker?
...
They turned Wall-E into a shooter?
First tough was that this might be an cool puzzler whit great physics but then it turned all shooter on me. pff
@Krackatoa: It's funny you should say that, since Dimension Films has recently acquired the rights to Short Circit and they're planning a remake that will "retain the same themes, but be adapted for advances in technology."
Considering that Ratatouille was actually a damn good game (for what it was), I expect nothing less from this.
Love the Pixar films. In fact, most of them (pretty much all that aren't Finding Nemo) show up in my top 20 films... But games based on Pixar movies have been pissing me off since the Toy Story game on Genesis.
Suckage!
WOW that's a lot of polish for a licensed title. I hope the gameplay's there too.
Graphics are a bit ropey in places, but it seems to have potential.
As a movie, Wall-E will probably be another homerun from Pixar. All the trailers I have seen so far look fantastic, and Pixar has demonstrated that they can write a good script, (although I thought Cars was a step backwards from "The Incredibles" and "Finding Nemo". Haven't seen "Ratatouille" yet).
As for the video game tie-in, well I don't expect much there. I played the demos for Cars and Ratatouille, and was bored senseless in the first 1-2 minutes. Why should this game be any different?
Wow, not what I expected at all. Looks like it is a new twist on old platformer, but I'd rent it.
It looks bad. Like a bad game. Like a lot of other games made because there was a movie.
I was half expecting it to ask for my date of birth before playing...Wall-E, the little robot that could...kill you!
whats really interesting is that apparently the wii version is a port of the 360/ps3 version. obviously downgraded some, but still...is this the first time the wii has gotten a prot from 360/ps3?
I swear I saw a tie fighter.
I played the Wall-E game on the DS and it was pretty fun actually! The puzzles are interesting to solve and the robot animation is adorable :)
You spelt *does* wrong.
Last gen graphics don't cut it anymore.
Wow, just wow. You know, I might pick this up, for a rental at least. It gave me a tingly Ratch & Clank/Half-Life 2 feeling.
Really? That looks awful.
@DrkBgrk:
I bet had this a different little robot in it and a different logo at the end you'd probably say "I'm excited for this game. It looks good like the other good games. Bleep Blorp."
I'm actually quite excited for this game now that I see it in action. Hopefully those multiplayer segments are online and don't suck, since that'd warrant a purchase from me. Right now its a rental
@coalhalo: Watch Ratatouille, its brilliant, truly brilliant.
Yuck, but towards the end when inside the huge ship - am I alone in thinking "Valley Forge"? Come back Huey, Dewey and Louie.
Super Mario Galaxy meets the asteroid scenes in Ratchet and Clank... why is this a platformer shoot-em-up? I guess same reason it's not a puzzler with Wall*E in the background egging you on.
Wow im impressed. Impressed they managed to have such an amount of pop in in such tiny environments. When the little egg thing is flying around the junkyard multiple objects randomly pop in. Even though they aren't far away.
And I can't believe people have complimented the physics! Lot's of items moving does not = physics. When a tiny robot hit's a piece of rock as big as it and the rock goes flying like cardboard it is not good physics.
Wow! I'm actually digging this video. Sure videos can't speak for the game itself, per se, but what I'm still seeing seems to be pretty fun!
From what I've heard, it's mainly a puzzle game where you use his gravity gun-like arm to complete tasks. I say bravo to that one. The more the gravity gun is realized by the mainstream, the more people will be willing to create something of that nature...
I think we have to study the laws of gravity/space-time continuum though.... ;x
Yikes.
Sorry, but NO animated movie tie-in game will EVER be good.
How can you complain about it being a shooter, have you seen Wall-E? I don't think you have. It could be full of action.
I agree about the Dark Forces vibe. The graphics are quite similar to and just as offensively ugly (by today's standards at least) as the first Jedi Knight game, which I believe was released during or around 1996.
What system is this on, N64?
this could be a sleeper hit.
Aah, Dark Forces - a brilliant game that nobody ever mentions... until now.
@JoRo1986:
Ice Age 2 was pretty damned good.
Looks good, sort of like a shooter with some platform puzzle elements. A "safe" selection of gameplay elements, common with most direct movie tie-ins.
I can site a couple movie tie-ins that were in the above average range, and if you include movie spin-offs the list becomes larger.
i will try this- i do like what i saw =)
Agreed on the Dark Forces vibe (although not for the reason stated above in the comments...jeez). Very good call.
Obviously have to see it to believe it but so far it looks pretty good.
Ehh... anyone feel the suck factor come in with those platforms just "POPPING" down? with just little animation for the backdrops you know there's going to be problems with them...
hmm...I'm getting the feeling this might have been a game first...then Disney went "Hmm...we might need to advertise this...let's make a movie."
metroid mix with third person shooter esque and 3d platforming
:P
Hmm... There are some very interesting physics-based elements that look like they're being incorporated into the puzzle/platforming aspects of the game. My only worry at this point is how easy it'll be to appeal to kids.
I like Wall-E, those big eyes are too cute to ignore.
Looks great, can't wait to play it
