There are 18 releases coming up this week, and the largest drop appears to be the PC versions of Assassin's Creed and Portal, plus a Half Life 2 Episode Pack. Those are the biggest names I spot anyway.
The WTF drop of the week, hands down, is "Dirty Dancing." This movie was a favorite of 40-something women strung out on prescription antidepressants and boxed wine in 1987. They're now 60-something. Not exactly the demographic that camps out on Tuesdays for a new release. Or picks up a controller. The parade of new games is after the jump:
Fab 5 Soccer (DS)
Plushees (DS)
Half-Life 2: Episode Pack (PC)
Dirty Dancing (PC)
MiniCopter: Adventure Flight (Wii)
Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol. 2 (PS2)
Ikaruga (XBLA)
Summer Sports: Paradise Island (Wii)
Overclocked: A History of Violence (PC)
Portal (PC)
Baroque (Wii, PS2)
Arcana Heart (PS2)
Assassin's Creed (PC)
There's also Sam & Max Episode 205: What's New Beelzebub?, Civil War Mysteries, and Team Fortress 2 coming out for the PC.
If you're picking up any of these — especially Dirty Dancing, I want to know about that — let us know in the comments. Thanks.

Ikaruga.
I might give Arcana Heart a shot. Saw some videos and looks like fun.
There's a Dirty Dancing game!? Holy shit. What's next? Weekend at Bernie's?
I will make it my mission to convince people at the game store I work at to buy Dirty Dancing, if it gets a European release.
Looks like a totally sweet minigame collection: [www.codemasters.co.uk]. No one puts Codemasters in the corner!
@GordieHoweHatTrick: No, but I hear Mannequin: The Game will be a huge hit! :P
Ikaruga aswell.
@GordieHoweHatTrick: A Benie's game could be great. Puzzles involving keeping up appearances with a dead guy! Ah...it's late and I am now too excited to sleep :-(
um PC version of Portal? I bought Orange Box for PC (Portal) months ago...
@Marcus: They're dividing The Orange Box for seperate releases.
Ikaruga! Finally.
Ikaruga is definitely my personal release of the week. Almost time to put the old Dreamcast out to pasture. Between this and Rez, the old boy is finally obsolete.
Dirty Dancing? For the PC?
A Dirty Dancing game?! For what, the Amiga 500?
Nobody puts companion cube in the corner!
@GordieHoweHatTrick: I wouldn't mind playing a game based on Trainspotting. It would be horrible, but I'd still play it. :o
Too bad Baroque apparently sucks. It has an interesting concept and sweet art design.
@Len Bias Cocaine Surplus: I don't have anything to add beyond the LOL. Hope that doesn't get me banned. Shit, I'm a fucking writer for the site.
I think you've got the wrong demographic for Dirty Dancing. When I was a young kind in the '80's/early '90's every girl I knew LOVED that movie.
So late-20's/early-30's women (instead 60 years olds) will be NOT buying that game.
I'm 30 and LOVED Dirty Dancing. The concept looks. If it was on the Wii, I'd buy it in a heartbeat (I don't own a PC, whch is huge problem with the demographic my age). Instead, I'll but it for my mom who is 60 and will kick any of you alls butt at most PC games. She's the only person I know who even plays PC games anymore at all!
P.S. It won an Oscar

Fuck yes, Ikaruga. About time this made it out the door.
Dirty Dancing for ages 3 and up? I guess there's an untapped market for everything out there...
@PENI_MASTA: Right but 12 and 13 year olds on prescription antidepressants and boxed wine -- not as funny.
Plus, gang, I boned it on Ikaruga. From your comments, sounds like that's the release of the week. I'll pay more attention.
Ikaruga... if I had a 360.
Get this shit off my Kotaku, plz.
Ikaruga is definitely going to be something I pick up this week it seems.
Wait....For Dirty Dancing do u get yell " Nobody outs baby in a corner!" as you dance the dance of life...
I was 11 when the movie came out, and everyone my age loved it. Yes, even the boys. Yes, sadly, that means me. I was young. And stupid. LEAVE ME ALONE! Whoops, sorry about that.
Ugh. Dirty Dancing. A game my wife might actually play... She will play alone.
Arcana Heart is out this week? Hot :o
@Cojo21: Thank you kind sir for making me laugh.
Just Ikaruga for me this week (despite owning it already for GCN)
@ghnvt: I know it isn't Road House but sometimes you have to compromise.
Gabe's dream come true.
Friday I'm having a load of friends over, I'll cook a meal, they'll have a few drinks and then we will all swear at each other.
Mario kart wii is the only thing I'm buying this week.
Possibly Baroque, but I'll wait for a full compliment of MetaCritic scores before I pull the trigger. Nintendo Power's 30% review is not doing it any favours.
DIRTY DANCING! holy shit, thats going to be such a hit here in Miami.
I've heard good things about Arcana Heart, will definitely pick that one up. Ikaruga is definitely a must buy, no questions asked.
Ikaruga > *, but dirty dancing comes mighty close!
woo hoo some dirty dancing if I see it im buying it.
Does anyone remember when the 'Dirty Dancing' semi-phenom started? A decade or so back, when Conan O'Brien suddenly started pushing for the re-release of the film for no reason whatsoever other than it was a random and amusing thing to do? He had an entire campaign set up and everything. And, all of a sudden, the film was actually re-released, to piss-poor ticket sales and the general amazement of everyone involved.
I remember the follow-up interview with Patrick Swayze, when he told Swayze how he loved him in that movie where he goes to a small farming town to save it through dance--only to be told that he was talking about Footloose. Oh, good times.
Point being: I'm so buying the Dirty Dancing game.
By and by, has anyone else seen the Roadhouse musical, which stars the legendary TAIMAK BITCHES sporting a blond mullet Swayze wig? Man, I want a game based on that. My life would be complete and I could shuffle off this mortal coil.
ikaruga hotels is as good as mine!
uh, arcana heart too.
@ShaggE: You mean Silent Hill 2&3?
I am so picking up Dirty Dancing. Patrick Swayze is sooo dreamy!
I plan on buying Fatal Fury and Baroque and will more than likely download Ikaruga.
Last episode of Sam and Max Season 2, i'm happy and sad at the same time. Also eagerly awaiting impressions on Dirty Dancing hehe
aw man i am SO tempted to get fatal fury battle archives 2. yeah i know its pretty weak, but i love the real bout games, i'll eventually end up getting the original and special for my saturn, but still. they totally should have put mark of the wolves on here.. cheap fools.
Assassin's Creed, definitely, and I'll wait for the 2nd season to come out to nab Sam and Max. In the middle of Abe Lincoln Must Die right now, heh heh heh...
hmm my 70 year old grandma drinks boxed wine and her favorite movie is Dirty Dancing. I may just have to go out and get this for her. Thanks!
Ikaruga is so totally worth it, no matter how you play it. I forget... does the XBLA version have any extras? If not... still pick it up. One of the best games on both the Dreamcast AND Gamecube.
Arcana Heart is an incredible fighting game, I just hope it somehow does better than it seems to be doing. Most critics liked it and it's a very good fighter, but it's almost impossible to take seriously when you see the character roster.
A ninja dog girl? A maid with gauntlets, metal boots, and a huge sword? A shrine maiden with huge boobs who fights with a top? A catgirl who (I shit you not) wears a school swimsuit and backpack and fights while swimming around in a giant slime?
It's a great game, but seriously... >_>
I'm not regret.
Atlus continues to rape my wallet.
@2NinjasTapedTogether: Only extra I know of is online play. Still worth another $10 in my book.
