G4 has been spending some time with a build of Haze on the Playstation 3 and created this video to show off some new bits of in-campaign play. I know the buzz on this game has been waxing and waning, but I remain intrigued with both the game's story and mechanics.

i'm still on the fence. i might give this game a shot, but it has about 2.5 weeks to get to me before MGS4 takes over...my life!
I havn't been that psyched for this but I won't lie; that vid looked pretty good.
I recently cancelled my pre-order at EBGames and picked up dark sector instead. I mainly pre-ordered it because of the "try haze for a week" promotion, but since the rumours it has been cancelled, i figured there is no point in keeping it. The EB clerk said it has not been confirmed to be canned nor confirmed not to be canned, but I'd rather have something to play.
I most certainly will pick this up... Free Radical are amongst my favourite developers, and any first person shooter from the creators of time splitters is a good thing (and thankfully they're not with EA this time... the EA challenge everything crap in TS3 bothered me)
Gameplay looks pretty good, the voice overs sound terrible.
I love the shaky & blurry effects when in combat. Looks very exciting to play. The weapons give nice feedback too and I imagine the DualShock3 will own on this title.
I will buy it but it's just taking too long for the masses out there I guess.
The bloom... sweet jeebus, the BLOOM!
Heroine err I mean Necter will give you bloom like no other!
I'm interested only if their co-op is good. Multi player should prove to be cool if the whole necter/no necter thing plays out.
Looks pretty cool. This is at least a rental for me.
This is still on my radar, even with all of the talk of late. It looks like a solid game, and 4-player online coop still sounds nice if they've done it right.
I was really excited about this game at first. Now though due to delays and what not, I'll wait till it's get a few reviews. If it's gets some high reviews I'll pick it up. If I can give Turning Point credit for anything it will be the fact that I'm waiting on anything thats FPS other then RFOM 2.
HALO KILLER
If I end up getting this it will be for the co-op play, hopefully all this extra time has been well spent.
IGN has a bunch of new vids up too.

I guess I'm confused as to what 'mechanics' this game has to offer.
All I've seen is some incredibly generic 'super powers' just disguised as 'drug effects'.
Calling bullet time a hundred different names never kept it form getting real old real fast.
Haze to me is Ubisoft's chance to prove they aren't another EA! i'm looking forward to this game and will definately pick it up on day one.
It's on my radar, but it's way out there. I think this one has a chance.
Looks positively generic. I'm not interested in Haze even a little anymore.
Am I the only one that noticed the AI seemed..well, dumb. I hope this doesn't represent the final build in any way. Very "meh" looking.
@illmatic291: no, you're thinking of Killzone for the PS2. lol.
Doesn't look like it does anything at all that we haven't seen a thousand times before. I'll rent it.
Sony should just stop allowing people to makes FPS games for the PS3. Every dev tries to make a "Halo killer" and they end up making a crappy game that is worse than Halo. Halo hasn't been great since the first one, and now everyone is trying to make something like it. Not to mention the horrible sixaxis/dualshock 3 controller... it's just not made for FPS. Until developers stop trying to make the next Halo, they should just stop in general.
ahh stfu.
Could someone remind me, why is this game supposed to be interesting? All I see is another generic shooter that doesn't even graphics-wise look very next-gen.
I remember being mildly interested of this one at some point, but that video looked just... well, generic. Boring guns, boring environment and boring action.
doesn't do anything for me at all.
@Ehetyz: Thanks for describing Halo3? No offence, but it fits perfectly. I don't really know where you come off saying this game doesn't look good graphics-wise. Check out some HD videos or screenshots.
Honestly, the game could be pretty darn good. The visuals are nice (nothing explosive), but they're sharp and the gameplay looks really fun and intense.
Let's see how the combined press reviews come out.
If it's over 80% average, I'll pick it up. It's been on my radar for awhile even though titles like MGS4 and GTA4 are the hot Spring/Summer titles to own.

@Gray665: So does gametrailers
And to be honest, I watched those and thought it looked like a pretty mediocre game. The video up there is a bit more exciting, but that guy calls you "Carpenter" four times in the span of the 1:30 clip, and "buddy" twice. And when someone calls you "buddy", and you're not their buddy...fuck that.
You know Halo 3 is not the best or only FPS right
@ Balance_In_Life (PSN):
How ironic is the lack of FPS's
What is this one's gimmick again? I'm pretty much done with shooters for the next 10 years, if I get the urge to play one again I'll just play CoD4 some more. And yes, Playstation needs to set itself apart with games that aren't shooters rather than trying to BE Microsoft with an inferior controller (For FPS).
It looks ok.
That guy going "Eh, Carpenter" has an annoying voice though.
Looks good, but not not amazing.
Yeah, it doesn't look like anything we haven't seen before. Jungle environment, Super Soldiers, Government branch is corrupt...Yadda Yadda Yadda. Some earlier footage showing how you'll use the nectar as grenades and such, that seemed ok. But this will fall into the cracks as just another next gen FPS.
And I'll bet Dollars to donuts that the Nectar makes some kind of Super Mutant variant of human, and that it takes about thirty five bullets to the forehead to kill it. Let's hear it for mini-bosses.
Yawn.
Is it just me? Or did it look all fuzzy? Honestly, I'd prefer a clear picture. But then again I play on the 360 so this game doesn't really have any sway for me one way or another.
Awesome framerate.
holy shit that looked generic.
@Candlejack:
I don't think it's the graphics, I think it's the art design. From a polish standpoint the graphics are completely fine, but there is a definite blandness to everything I've seen on Haze thusfar, and this vid isn't doing anything to change that. The problem with Haze is that I've already played this game before. Three times.
Haze really does look like Halo meets Farcry from the guys who made Timesplitters. Which is fine: that's exactly what it's supposed to be. But how isn't that going to come off as derivative and boring when the art direction is as paint-by-numbers as the concept?
I dunno... looks too glowy and stuff. How hard is it to shoot at glowing enemies? It's like the old days of Quake 2 texture hacking.
As for the story, Bluecell was right on the money. If this is actual game dialogue, then fuck that indeed. Sounds like it was written by idiots.
@jun581: This game will own my life till MGS4 comes out.
@Bluecell: I'm not your buddy, friend! I'm not your friend, guy!
@Bluecell: or chief!
but seriously is it possible to make a non generic shooter these days? I mean. You shoot at stuff. You really cant expand upon that too much.
I'd love to see life bars/ health meters make a come back. The whole shield/hide and regen thing really noobs it up for me and inforce the "consoleshooterlol" whenever I get on the ol'360 or ps3. I remember when health was scarce and so was ammo and you had an actual challenge.
Side note: when are dev's going to realize that when I look down at the ground I see everything from my chest down. How hard is it to stick the camera in the model's eyes and pivot the neck to give me an accurate view. Fear atleast took a step in the right direction by letting me see my feet.
crap, now i need a ps3...
Still never looked as bad as Blacksite or Timeshift.
@stranger: Mmm, I see what you mean, yes. I'm looking forward to it mainly because of the COOP features, the awesome yellow troopers and the versus matches where I will find out whether playing Rebels requires more wit or they're just underpowered.
Also who the hell throws like that?
Looks real nice, I think some people expect too much out of the game and are putting in too much into it.
@el_gordo: The glowing enemies is part of the ability of mantel troopers who use the nectar drug. When you play as a rebel you don't get that bonus as you don't use the drug.
@Baine: Again, thats part of using nectar drug. It does blur your vision and if you use too much you can't see shit. Point is that it blurs the world but enhances your sighting of your enemies making them easier to see when in jungles or in darkness.
That looked great!
@Dumari: Overhand push throw like that is actually how the military trains soldiers to throw grenades.
I was under the impression that the drug did something, anything other than simply make the enemy glow. Guess laziness got the best of them.
Yet another FPS for the 360? Seriously, they really need to do something about this because there are far too many coming out for i---
Say huh? This is PS3? Along with Killzone 2 and Resistance 2? Oh ..... um, go PS3, the new FPS system? :D
The Drug is supposed to make everything seems nice and clean, make enemies easier to target, steady aim blah blah... side effect include becoming a gun toting psychopath. I remember reading if you use it too much then friends look like enemies.
I think it also makes dead enemies disappear or fade out. I seem to remember one interview saying that as a rebel you can play dead and basically fade away. then jump up out of no where to get the drop. I dunno the concept sounds awesome, it just depends on how well the gameplay can execute the idea.
Also: Winners dont use drugs. (or Nectar)
@illmatic291: COD4 is your answer in every way.
