Get a grip! Peripheral maker MSY has released out this officially Capcom licensed, enormous steering wheel peripheral thing called the "MONSTER HUNTER GRIP." It's for the PSP Slim & Lite and totally defeats the purpose of both the "slim" and the "lite" part. We guess it's to make it easier to hold onto your PSP during hour after hour of Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G play. It'll also make it easier for you to look like a goober.

Tbh, the slim and lite is comfortable enough as it is. I see this grip as fairly pointless.
Mental note #1: Redicule the first person I see using one of these on my daily commute on the train.
Mental note #2: Nobody will ever be seen using one of these, scrap note #1
Gotta agree with Rovient there. That's a pretty beastly controller. Mind you, I actually prefer the original model.
Wouldn't this make it HARDER to play instead of easier?
It's Capcom's way of hinting that the series really belongs on a home console. It's no longer a suprise that Monster Hunter 3 is being developed for the Wii, a home console.
I think it looks awesome. I don't think I would actually use it. But yeah. Definitely looks aweosme.
@TheCheese33: My left thumb hurts like crazy after playing a game on my PSP. This happens especially with Wipeout games and Grand Theft Auto games. These add ons actually help and not hurt. IMO, the D-pad is to low and close to the edge.
Anybody else having this problem?
@Nkosi
I have same problem. PSP is my favorite system, since I bought it few years ago I rarely play anything else, but my left hand hurts when I play more than 2hours without break. I think that Monster Thing can be good, though I wouldn't take it on public.
D-Pad is very low on PSP, and I have same problem with Dualshock on PS2. Thats why I prefer x360 gamepad when analog stick is switched with D-pad.
@Nkosi:
The analog nub you mean? I hate that thing so much, it's way too hard to use and has absolutely no depth. I wish it stuck out a bit more.
Good to see there are peeps giving props to the PSP in here, since it does cop a lot of flak. Not sure why, but it's the sad truth.
In regards to the grips, it looks quite comfortable. Anything to ease prolonged strain on the digits.
I bet if you threw it, it would come back to you. I like it, but it has a boomerang vibe that I just can't shake.
It doesn't matter what it looks like, as your hands will be covering it for the most part. And I tend to look at the screen while I'm playing so looks don't really matter much here. Hand cramping is really a factor in MHF.
Game companies are really beginning to love their moulded plastic these days, aren't they?
PSP claw is a serious problem facing many monster hunters. Anything to combat it would be great... you just wouldnt see me using this at denny's while I eat their free wifi and pancakes.
Fuggit, I have long fingers. I've been shopping around for something like this for more action oriented games for a while but all the other grips I've found have been for the PSP fatty. Let's get real people. If you're playing PSP in public, grip or no grip, You'll be looking like a goober playing PSP in public. Own your gooberness already.
Might make it harder. You have to do some interesting finger combinations on the left hand to use both the D-pad and Analog disc if you play any of the manual aim classes. Thing reminds me of a batarang.
When I was over at my friends apt recently playin MHP2G I noticed that he had one of these- he said it was ok, but it was better for games like wipEout, or games less finger-intensive than MHP.
My right-hand pinky always gets tired from playing PSP as it is used under the PSP to provide stability, and my left hand sometimes cramps as I'm using "The Claw" way to play the PSP (works also with dualshock/xb360 controllers). It's when your thumbs control analog sticks, the index finger manages the d-pad or face buttons, and the middle and ring finger handle shoulder buttons. Luckily, most games don't require this much interaction, but some out there (mostly mecha games) make it almost a necessity. Anyone else play like this?
Look it's the PS3 Boomerang controller, sans a PS3 Boomerang controller.
@Velops: It ALREADY was on a console. PS2. They had three games for it.
It's on Wii because Capcom wants a sure thing. Also, they want moneys.
@Nkosi: yes
Why would someone look any more like a goober with this grip than they would with a sixaxis, 360 controller, or wiimote-nunchuck in their hand? I didn't buy a PSP to look cool, I bought it to game. If this helps me do that more comfortably, I'm gonna check it out.
Unless that monstrosity comes with a working second analog stick, I'm not interested.
I think this thing is great. Sure, it looks kinda wonky but I bet it makes playing the PSP 10x more comfortable.
I'm a depressed gamer who likes to sit and play RPGs alone in the dark, so you know I spend great stretches of time in front of my PSP.
A proper grip (that does't include speakers and requie extra batteries) is a godsend.
If the price is right, I'll buy it!
