Remember when I said Sega's upcoming The Incredible Hulk game should just be
considered Ultimate Destruction 2? Upon seeing this trailer, I need to revise that statement just a tad. You should consider Sega's The Incredible Hulk an incredibly bland-looking Ultimate Destruction 2. Just goes to show how realism isn't always a good thing. How do you make a gigantic green bundle of fury battling robots and smashing cars look so amazingly boring? No preorder for you, The Incredible Hulk.

Awesome GTA mod. Lousy stand-alone.
Yeah, it was nice looking and all, but it seemed to lack excitement for me.
I dunno, even though it was underwhelming I still think it looks like it'll be fun. The environments are a bit bland but I'm counting on the gameplay to make up for it. I did kind of expect a bustling metropolis to be a little bit more... bustling. But still, I expect it'll be able to deliver a good dose of Smashing.
Developers really have to knock off this fad of running the graphics through a sepia filter.
I dunno...I thought that looked pretty cool. It's the Hulk, all he knows how to do is destroy and SMASH!
Looks like they just took the spider-man game and added in the hulk with a few different moves, slightly updated graphics and a tiny bit of crackdown. ~yawn~
Meh - looks like maybe a hung-over Sunday rental, at best. The first game was fun on PS2 (also as a rental) and I don't really see how people will get excited with something like this given the calibre of everything else that's out there and is original.
Dude, you've filled Kotaku and Gizmondo with cake and Mr.T bullshit!!
We know it's April Fool's, but that's just... spam!!
It looks like it'll be just like Ultimate Destruction to me. That was just a bad trailer that seemed thrown together at the last minute.
The greatest games can have the worst trailers depending on who edits it.
almost identical to the old trailer for the transformers: the game released near the movie.
jerky animation, boring camera.
it looked like they took Spiderman 3 and changed the character model to the hulk. boooo
i think that developers need to get their heads out of their asses all i've seen recently is shitty game ideas one right after another maybe if they sat down and actually "developed" a good idea maybe they could come up with decent material that doesn't give gaming and next gen gaming especially a bad name
Why was the Hulk moo-ing? :|
Er, the gameplay video looks almost exactly like a high def textured version of Ultimate Destruction. Which was also bland but kind of fun.
It isn't easy being green I guess eh?
I believe it does resemble Ultimate Destruction in some ways, but I can't simply deny that those graphics are puuurdy.
I havenet played Ultimate Destruction but to me this actually looks like something I could have a quick laugh with...
Too much of the 'game play' was him running around or getting knocked on his ass
maybe it's some comment on global warming that i'm missing, but wherever that city is doesn't appear to have any atmosphere.
The bloom hurt my eyes.... ouch
What I expected from a first trailer? Hulk rocketing through a building, from his own momentum, and bring the whole thing down. This is a epic fail in my books
Most underwhelming trailer I've ever seen. I thought we were supposed to get excited about seeing these. :/
You know, it's not TOO bad. I mean, if anything, it's an updated, HD Ultimate Destruction of sorts. I'd still rent it, provided they polished the animations up a bit, as well as the hit detection. This is just the first trailer, after all.
I gotta say, I'm always optimistic about this sort of games, and no matter what reviews say, I liked Spiderman 1, 2 and 3. Just fun and as good as a movie-game adaptation usually gets.
But this? Man. I saw it on GT-TV when it premièred and god, it looks shite. Shite.
Kotaku sure is hating on sequels lately. Good thing Brawl came out when it did...
and if all else fails, hit ground with both fists.....
Hmmm. Looks fine to me. Why does it look boring?
That's no sequel, and it's no ultimate destruction 2. Radical has no part in it since they're working on prototype, and it looks like sega just ripped off all their work on UD and called it 'next-gen'. No sale.
So far it looks like Ultimate Destruction 2 to me. Does it look boring because he's not bright green and sporting eye-burning purple pants?
I'm a huge comic book geek, I can willingly admit that and most video games based on comic book IP's I'm willing to check out and most games based on Marvel characters I'm usually down by law to buy, rent or steal. But this trailer for the Hulk has done nothing for me. This may be a great game but so far I'm not impressed.
-Bishop was right...
Haven't you heard? Real is brown.
um how does this NOT look like UD? He even has the metal boxing glove things that you can do!
Don't try to put us off with your sorcerors ways, Mike Fahey. Your sad devotion to that ancient game has not helped you conjure up the sequel, nor has it given you the clairvoyance to say that it will suck.
:P
Looks OK, but mostly seems like it's just the first game with a new coat of paint. The destruction doesn't seem anymore awesome than it did before. Catching that giant robot's foot though, that was undeniably cool.
The guy playing just isn't good. I could make that game fun as hell.
If I saw the hulk pond the ground one more time i was gonna rip my hair out
I had no idea the hulk could jump like that. :x
Looks pretty darn good to me >_>
You guys must be watching a different trailer. I see Hulk. I see smashing. I see stuff getting thrown.
What else do you fuckin' need, man?
The only thing missing is a little polish and visual filler details.
I can dig it.
If you look at his fighting moves you'll notice that he only uses one combo over the whole trailer again and again and again.
Hey! At least they warned in the first 40 seconds what would be your feelings after playing this game for half an hour...
The trailer was too long.
This does not bode well for the game.
Also, within about five seconds they reuse the same sound effect.
LAME.
How do you circumcise a Kotaku writer? You slap their readers in the mouth! Seriously some of you guys have no opinions of your own. It's sad.
I'm not a fan of Ultimate Destruction but this one looks better than the first by far even in this first look trailer. Early footage should be taken for what it is, early. I'm sure come launch time it'll retain the title of being one of the more fun games to play.
I think it looks fun. At least it's actual gameplay footage.
So this game is not being developed by Radical?
Even if it IS only UD with a shiny new coat of paint: AWESOME!
Seriously, Ultimate Destruction, or HULK SMASH as it should've been named, was fantastic! Crackdown seemed to reflect some of what was there. Yeah, you can really tell a game's quality by the editing of a trailer... sheesh. Whats with the snobbish people/views lately. And YES it looks EXACTLY like a sequel to UD. Bring it!!
thank the game will still kick ass. However that trailer shows nothing cool, just Hulk jumping around a bit and punching up robots. We should of seen some crazy destruction
This is Mr. Fahey's schtick, people. Good or bad, he'll say it sucks.
But this trailer seems to have all the standards -- smash, throw, car gloves, etc. It just looks like a character move montage. I'd like to see more of the destruction part. They cut that part where the big robot was going to fall into the building behind it, for instance. That's what I want to see, dammit!
I swear! There's just no pleasing some of the elitist Kotaku crowd. A 40 second trailer and everyones got the game figured out. You guys would rather see some mutated emo kid in a hoodie do the same thing as the Hulk? Please! We asked for more Hulk smash and we got it. Now we don't like it because the graphics look too real? Do me a favor and don't buy it so I know a copy will be available for me.
Let's kill Fahey with a Buick hurled from 100 metres away.
@boopadoo: Hey now! I don't have a schtick! This trailer is boring! The game could be great, but this trailer sucks.
@vicmasterinc: Not a fan of punctuation, are you?
But I agree with the statements said by others, it looks incredibly like UD with the Hulk-Busters, weaponized cars, city bouncing and everything. I hope the boss battles are just as awesome this time around.
@strix: clearly you never played IH:UD, and you my friend are missing out bigtime.
@nashb81: no. Radical turned whatever work they were doing into Prototype. Which is why I'm looking forward to that game.
UD is the greatest superhero game ever. It had problems and hopefully they'll be fixed but the trailer was just a trailer I'll need more than 40 seconds to lay down a verdict.
I think it looks fun.
Don't like the look of the lighting it is too bright, but other than that looks like a fun Hulk game.
I like Smashing things. I just hope they do more destructible environments.
I don't know how a different developer managed to make a game that looks and feels so much like Ultimate Destruction. The way Hulk can charge jumps in addition to the car being torn apart and turned into fist gloves is just uncannily similar to Ultimate Destruction. This looks like it will be Ultimate Destruction in HD and while it was a great game back a few years ago, I hope the boss bottles from that game are topped in this one. It's so awesome seeing such potential for both the movie and the game. Is Sega going to get rid of the licensed game curse here? Iron Man and Hulk look truly
