Overclocked Trailer Has Rain and Noise

Ah, yes. Here's the exclusive trailer for the upcoming pc title Overclocked: A History of Violence. It's an adventure game that has players take on the role of psychiatrist as he explores the memories of six patients. There's noisy music too, apparently. We wish there wasn't. Our ears are oh so delicate.

  • No offense Brian, but you sound like a little fancy boy that's never heard rock music before in this post. I bet that track goes well with the theme of the game.

  • Ack, I should've listened to the warning. My precious ears! All in all, not a very good trailer (if you hadn't said anything in the post I wouldn't know WTF the game was about), but the game sounds interesting.

  • Not really sure what I just saw, but are they shooting him while he's drowning? That's just mean man, just mean...

  • This is most intriguing. I always long for adventure games as they set the ground for me in PC gaming. I am also currently in a PH.D for psychological eval.

This game intrigues me^10 . I thought psychonaut was brilliant sans the awful gameplay.

  • This is actually a pretty cool concept for a game, as least as narrative is concerned. I could see it playing out like an episode of Lost with flashbacks and all that fun stuff. I'm not too sure what the gameplay will consist of, but I'll keep my eyes on this one.

  • You know what they say, Brian. If it's too loud you're too old..

  • @Croixtreize: It's not really the loudness gets me so much as the suck. I'd be fine if the song was, say... Hysteria *COUGH*UK only*COUGH*

    Part one:

Sounds a bit like "PSYCHONAUTS: FOR GROWN-UPS!"

    Part two:

So we already have one upcoming game called "Prototype", and now we have one called "Overclocked"? What software-development / computer-related term will be used to title a game next?

    "BETA VERSION"

    "FRAMERATE"

    . . . "FATAL FRAMERATE"

    "RESTART"

    "DUAL BOOT"

    Part three:

Maybe they should have just called this game "RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY".

  • That song is actually quite cool, anyone recognised it?

Ok great trailer now i still don't know anything about the game!

No i've given up on the april fools comments.

  • i hope this is a trend for more unique to the PC gaming. Back in the day it was wiered games like this that made me play PC only games. I know this trailer didn't really show much in gameplay but as far we know this is gameplay.

  • @108:

    "PRINT SCREEN"

    "OVERHEAT"

    "LOG OFF"

    "UNIVERSAL SERIAL KILLER"

    "TROJANS"

  • why did this brief trailer give me more of a "Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy" feeling?

and, with everyone naming pc parts to games, i can now hear the movie tie-in trailers...

(in typical gruff announcer guy voice)
"Coming this fall... dont be blocked by: Firewall!!!!"

  • Image of 108 108 at 07:03 AM on 04/01/08 *

    @Han Daimond:

    "UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS DRIVER"

    "FIREWIRE"

    . . .

    "KEYBOARDMANIA"

or maybe they could just call the game "CLOCKOVER". man, that actually sounds cool.

"Random Access Memory" is probably still the most fitting though :-/

Also, that song suuuuuucks. I only clicked on the video because you mentioned NOISE, bashcraft. i thought it had actual noise music in it.

    instead, it's just bullshit.

and no, i'm not getting too old -- i play guitar and scream in a 110-decibels noisy band that kind of sucks, and i dare say i can make better / hipper music than this shit :-/

  • aw, i was excited for a second; i thought someone finally decided to put some merzbow in a game or something.

  • Firewall already is a Film :(

Hope this game is better than the quicktime event bullshit that Fahrenheit ended up as.

  • @Spiffyness: I request the song at the website and they make it a UK exclusive?! I.Want.Hysteria.

  • Having not watched the video, the title made me think that it was a game about PC overclocking, and the excessive amount of rage that come from a fried CPU.. or when your water cooling rig springs a leak and starts sparking and hissing at you.

  • @108: Ahh a true Hardcore brethen (If the 108 in your name is any indication)... the song ain't bad, just run of the mill pseudo-industrial but not exactly cringe-worthy.

My entry for the "name your next game/film from computer terms"

    "Trackball: The adventure"

@maidenjapan: That will never happen unfortunately :(

  • played the demo and liked it. but why is US so late? it's been out in europe for months.

  • Great concept, okay trailer, lame CG. It looked pre-rendered, anyway, and not in a good way.

If they pull off a decent storyline and some tolerable gameplay though, I'll bite.

  • @108: "CASEMOD"

    "BIOS - THE BEGINNING"

    "BENCHMARK"

    "ALU: STRIKE TEAM 10110"

I really was expecting some vga o cpus you know...

  • A "History of Violence"? What's the ruling on stealing trademarks in a movie's sub-title?

I get the feeling that "Overclocked: Star Wars" wouldn't fly.
