If you are or will be in the Milwaukee area over the weekend, be sure to drop by the Olympia Resort for the 2008 Midwest Gaming Classic, the Midwest's largest electronic gaming convention. Visitors will be able to buy and play classic to current arcade and pinball machines, buy, sell, and trade your video game systems, games, and accessories, or listen to talks given by guest speakers like modder Ben Heckendorn, Twin Galaxies founder Walter Day, former EGM editors "Trickman" Terry and Sushi X, and Marty Goldberg, who will be talking about the plans to revitalize the classic Microprose brand. It sounds like a damn fine way to spend some time and money over the weekend. Tickets are $10 a day for adults, or completely free for children 12 and under. Hit up the website for directions and more information.

Had a great time there last year, sadly I can't make it this year. At least I'll save money not buying all the classic games and equipment again.
What the fuck is that kid's head all about? I suppose it's probably a PaciMan head piece, but it looks like it could be Jack's [from Jack-in-the-Box] severely jaundiced son.
@lawnmowerdeth
I live about 20 minutes away from there....I'm a 31 year old gamer and was wondering if this is worth the $10 of admission?
Wow, Sushi-x ... Does he walk around in the ninja suit? This sounds like an awesome saturday. It may also be the first time i envy anyone in Milwaukee.
Thank god I live in Wisconsin. I think that is actually the first time I have ever said that. We just got over the 2nd worst Winter in Wisconsin history.
I am definately going to go to this. I will have to bring lots of cash though.
Oh wow, I didn't expect to see this mentioned on kotaku. Pleasant surprise! My wife and I are going there tomorrow first thing, since we're only an hour away.
I guess they're gonna have an area for multiplayer DS gaming, with designated times for Mario Kart and Metroid Prime Hunters matches, which we're looking forward to the most.
I'll have some extra cash on hand in case I find any sweet items for any one of my classic consoles.
It's my first year attending, so I can't wait!
@Booji-Boy: *High fives* We got some first timers over here. I seriously need to contain myself though. I am a sucker for old school video games.
I should be going to this. :(
Wow, I remember Sushi-X. I have all my old EGM's collecting dust... Hopefully I'll still have them when PS8 comes out.
Ralph loves Ms. Pac-Man!
@Ruffstik: Yes, it's worth $10. Tons of stuff to see/play/compete in. Pinball and SHMUP tournaments, arcade games, and tons of other stuff. I pre-ordered my 2-day pass awhile ago, and I'm totally stoked for tomorrow.
I was hoping to go to this, but I just started a new job and have to work this weekend. That throw my plans of going right out the window.
As expansive as the collective Kotaku knowledge reaches I wanted to make sure this was in it. I sent the link and the tip. I had a great time there last year and the thing seems really put togather by fans. Lots of volunteering systems and games to just play whenever you want. GO BREWERS!!!!
It's a four hour drive for me, but I haven't been at any remotely interesting "event" of any kind for quite a while. I'm down if I can get someone else to go with me.
Can't wait! I hope there's a consolation prize in the pinball tournament, cause I'm a lock for it!
Ahh... the memories. I remember when Sushi-X first joined the magazine. I sent a letter to EGM with Sushi-X's real identity but it was never printed in the publication. Sushi-X appeared a month after a previous editor disappeared...
I'd go there with my fist full of quarters, but alas, I'm on the West Coast. :)
@Ruffstik: Oh definitely! I'm in St. Louis, it was a 400 mile drive for me and it was worth the trip and hotel. If you're that close you better go.
