I know, we're all done with Portal (so 2007), but bear with us. Just this one more time. For this custom DS case, which uses the fantastic Portal fan art of deviantART member McGibs and slips it under a clear DS case, for a custom handheld that's as awesome as it is platform-inaccurate. Jump for the full-size version.

I love it. I've forever been a fan of plain, solid-color handhelds but I'd be willing to do a lot to get my hands on a beautiful piece like this.
Schweeet!
I actually like the artwork better on DS than on dA.
Wrong console? Only way to fix that, obviously, is to port the game to the DS.
Now that's an awesome application of gaming art. Seems you just can't get enough sweet Portal stuff.
I hate it. She doesn't have the leg springs!
But seriously, this is awesome and I wish I had it.
Very impressive artwork. Would be nice to see more cool case mods out there like this for those who are game savvy.
A DS portal game can be easily done. If you've played the flash portal game, you'd know what I'm talking about. That's fucking sweet artwork. Jizz worthy.
Wow. awesome art.
I just got the Orange Box and played Portal for the first time last night, so this is as current as it can be for me :P I had been looking forward to play this game for a while.
I think this DS looks great, they did an awesome job there. I also like the idea of the clear DS case.
Yes indeed, a clear shell is a genius way to personalize a DS. Even better than Scotch tape (I'm sure nobody ever saw anything surpassing that idea). I'd probably do something similar if I didn't have a nerd-crush on my black DS Lite.
(Seriously, that thing practically glows black. If ever I was to marry she'd probably have to look like a black DS Lite now...)
The DS is the perfect thing to personalize in Aperture stylings- whites and greys, rounded edges, etc. Sticking fanart on it just seems like a copout that misses the point.
That cake is no lie. Perhaps just a beautiful hallucination!
I might actually do something like this. It's brilliant.
whooooaaaaa I remember this guy way back in the day on the penny arcade artists' corner forums.
way to go mcgibs, love the piece!!!! :D
Looks like she has her arm on the cistern of a toilet.
I love the deep of that image. And I love that this smiley is sexual. So with zero sexual references, theres a hideous joke here. The cake is.. the orgasm visualization. Its very elegant, and creppy in a very Portal way.
He should have used the Rule 34 version of that picture.
Do want.
I'd give my left testicle for this DS...
<3<3<3<3
@vincevl: That was was definitely my first impression as well. But, wonders of wonders, that toilet is actually the loveliest imaginary inanimate object I've ever been coerced to incinerate. Note the qualifiers, as they are all pertinent.
The shell casing he's using there is widely available at most game accessory stores, and I've even seen it at a few dollar stores. And it's super easy to print out your own custom inserts -- I've been doing it since last summer!
At Fry's here, you can buy the shell by itself, or in a set with Transformers or Sports teams inserts and a bunch of other thematic accessories, but all you need is the shell and an inkjet...(Though scissors and photoshop help)
Yeah, this is hella stupid. All the guy did was print out the art (which he didn't even do), cut it into a DS-shape, and slip it under his store-bought plastic DS case. Why's everyone all "Omg want want want?" Get a color printer.
@Aethyr: This be accurate.
Actually, the original image is from a line of semi-pornographic images that depict Chell in various compromising positions with dearest Weighted Companion Cube, proving once again that the internet can and does do anything and everything.
@Mink_Car: She has the cybernetic plugs where the springs attach. She just took them off 'cause she's relaxin'.
It would be slightly uncomfortable with them on, you know?
>>Looks like she has her arm on the cistern of a toilet.
LOL ... i thought the same thing before the jump...the most bizarre thing was her high level of happiness as she sat in the corner of the supposed lavatory, arm casually draped over the supposed porcelain device.
