VFDS poster L_A_Akira recently got home from Japan, where he was smitten by Sega's latest Lindberg arcade cabinets. Guy - naturally - wanted one of his own. Deciding wisely that trying to import one was a bit silly, he instead took the road more awesome and built himself one, which will house his 360, PS3, PC and even a car amp. Above, the initial concept art. The finished product - after the clicky clicky - may surprise/delight you.
Can a fake arcade cabinet qualify as dreamy? I'd say "yes".
Lindberg Style Arcade Cabinet [VFDC, thanks Brian!]

That sir is shit hot!
Makes me wish I had room in my apartment for a setup like that.
Cept it would be with a SFIV machine. ;D
So you'll post that but you won't mention my arcade stick that works on all 3 next-gen consoles... That's a drag. :( What if I make a cabinet?
Why cant i make nice things?
I guess the question is "What qualifies as a 'fake' arcade cabinet?"
@sariah: One that looks just a real one but isn't, is my definition :)
@Luke Plunkett: I could make a drawing too... >:)
If anyone's interested in this he's now selling it on SRK for $2000.
@eastx: I'd like to know! If you have an SRK account make a thread about how you built it. How'd you get it to work on the Wii?
UmeShoryu, thanks! I do have a thread with full instructions and diagrams in the SRK Tech Thread (my name is Bomberman there). I want to encourage more people to do multi-system sticks. Technically, that's what LA Akira has done here too, but he used 2 PCBs instead of 3.
I want one with the burning desire of a thousand suns.
That is excellent
Impressive stuff...and something I could probaly never afford to do xP I love stuff like this, I remember I help some build a MAME machine once (he did buy the original machine, but it wasn't what he wanted for the arcade place and so use Mame instead for it) Was pretty simply since all I did was help him set it up when it came to the software side.
Wow.....just wow....can he make me one too? I'd have no idea where I'd PUT the thing...but that doesn't mean I can't WANT one (:
That is absolutely beautiful and amazing. I wish I had lots of time on my hands!
@eastx: Checked out your thread, great job with the stick! I'm not a stickbuilder or anything but I love reading about the work people put into their creations.
Totally. Fucking. Awesome.
I think I just peed a little...
i bow to that mans obvious manlyness.
if i wasnt in a somewhat temporary residence, i'd totally make my dad make me one >.>;;;;
His 360 is screwed.
What's with the mouse there?
@dawimp523: For the PC, no?
This looks f'in badass. I'd hit it.
It's not that good looking. Or at least that's what I keep telling myself.
It's really rare that you find a homemade cab that's so stylish (that's not covered in a million trackballs, marble linoleum and and an old Dell CRT framed in black posterboard). Hopefully this has significantly raised the bar for cabs. I know that a lot of custom sticks these days (Byrdo, Paik4Life etc) are so nice that us amateurs are ashamed of showing our own.
@futurebiblehero:
It takes talent to stutter in type. I'm awesome.
Amazing, Amazing work.
@futurebiblehero: Everybody should build a cabinet at least once in their lifetime, even if it is covered in a million trackballs with an old CRT screen.
Very nice. My expectations were low based on the "concept drawing" so I was pretty blown away. Nice set up Luke (tricky bastard)
@Witzbold: My thoughts exactly
Did you guys open the link? The process of building this is incredible and it is very detailed.
I so want this guy to build me one. :)
That's one of the best looking fan made cabinets I've ever seen. Really nice job, I really like the head to head style arcade cabinets, almost as much as I like the old cocktail style cabinets. I've wanted to build a cocktail style cabinet for a really long time, those pictures are inspiring!
That is awesome - it's just like the cabinets my Grandpa used to make in the Old Country.
@eastx: I'd like to hear about it since I'm working on a cabinet of my own right now and was hoping to interface my 360 to it as well.
@serotoninzero: Let's see if this link will work then... Check it out and let me know if you have any questions. [forums.shoryuken.com]
Looks cool but then again i'd never call this cab a "cab" since it's just some stand for a standard HD TV not the kind of dedicated cab that a candy cab is for example :( But great nonetheless
Game get!
Damn that's a nice looking machine.
@Yaroze: You're mistaken. He's recreated the Sega Lindberg cabinet to the best of his ability. It just looks different than candy cabinets.
