Getting it out of the way.
damnit...i wanted this for the summer.o well, it's okay cause it gives me time to study and once i'm done, it's on. atleast they got a release date for it.
September??? Yay.....along with Star Wars...I am so sick of games coming out in fall/winter..atleast there is MGS4..
No disk version?
I'm ready to green up!!
They should integrate SOCOM with Home, so you can do tactical raids on other peoples homes.
Is there any recent footage of the game around? The last time I saw some gameplay was from the E3 period. It didn't look super good, so I'm praying to Jeebus it's improved a bit.
I'm sure I'll buy it anyway..
So I take it this is a SOCOM Confrontation Confirmation?
@Morpork: dude go to 1up.com and check out the two new pics they have your going to be shocked. cant wait to get my egm in the mail!
@XsunspotX: man i excited. i thought people didn't think much of socom after 3. i know it was huge when 2 came out...i mean HUGE!!!! it's good to know there's a lot of people waiting for this game to be released. i know i am, cause i was an addict with socom 2...equivalent to Tyrone Biggums and his vice.
@Kj719:
Dont you ever! Do anything like that again!
Confrontation doesn`t look to snazzy, graphically. But if the gameplay is fun and more realistic than the current Clancy games, it`s going to be awesome.
@XsunspotX: Ya I like the new gritter look, they should just go ahead and remove the old pics, cause its very very different almost cartoony.
@jun581: *i'm
@Kj719: you fail my friend :'(
more SOCOM crack for me, this should satisfy my military needs.
hey released on my birthday! also its mexico's independence day! a burrito and socom...a match made in heaven
i happen to see a pic of the new map Urban Wasteland, it was actually the full pic from the darker pic thats on 1up.com. looks insane
G^ bitches
@KMatt: Awesome idea, I'm in
well then that settles it. I shall get a ps3 and socom cf by september.
@[KU]Shindokie: Hates The New Layout!: :o( ...I guess I'm not very "pun-ny"
This is going to be a rough time on the wallet.They are releasing Killzone 2,Resistance 2,Little Big Planet, and now Socom in a 2 month period.How about something around the summer?
damn, was hoping it'd be out this summer...well, as long as it comes out good. SOCOM rocks my socks.
I have never in my life of gaming played a Socom Game But there is always a frist for everything, Fist time playing MGS and now first time playing SOCOM. Can't Wait!
@enewtabie: MGS4, good sir.
damn. everything i want to buy keeps being delayed. i cant be playing gta4 till september... can i ?
@MXs219: You should pick up the MGS Essential Collection before MGS4 if you really want to appreciate the game.
@KMatt: Hah! Amazing idea.
"Sir, Heavenly Sword wall mural, 3 o clock! FIRE IN THE HOLE!!"
@Kj719: that was quite good if i do say so my self
@squidboy007: lol
cant wait for this game. its gonna be the shit
Damn, the PS3 is friggin' having the time of its life this year isn't it.
I have a feeling this will be more popular than COD4. Anyone else thinking the same thing?
@GamingNinja: CoD 4 Vs. [the original, kickass] SOCOM.
WTF? When did Zipper Interactive hand over Socom to Slant Six? What the hell is Zipper working on now? I used to work below the Zipper Int offices and talked to the dudes about 2 years ago... they were totally hush on if they were developing a game for the PS3, I guess this is why.
@velvetelevator: Zipper is working on the Official Socom 4, this is just kind of like a hold over till then, Slant Six is just making an online only game, if you didnt know Slant Six also developed the Socom games on PSP
@XsunspotX: Yeah, I just visited their website and saw they developed the psp ones. Phew, had me worried that my fav little shop was going out of biz, zipper's website always makes me feel like that though. :)
Zipper lost my loyalty with SOCOM 3. What a pile of balls. The old American adage of "if it's bigger it MUST be better" RUINED that game; a series where previously I'd lost months playing; where I had become an active member of PS2's ill-founded and terribly supported (by Sony) online community; and had even converted quite a few PS2 owners I know to the joys of online community gaming. Then came SOCOM 3, with its stupidly big maps and far too many players... where games were often reduced to two people, one on each team, roaming giant ugly levels looking for each other, only for countless games to end in draws... boring... Gone was the tension; destroyed was the community spirit... and the frame-rate was piss-poor, which is death for an online title. SOCOM 3 very nearly killed the series for me; in fact it did kill PS2 online gaming. Some may say that never really happened; that PS2 was never truly online... not so. SOCOM 1 & 2 had the foundations for a really, really great online gaming series, and had a fantastic community- at least in the UK- I still talk to my SOCOM 1 buddies regularly even now. But no game has done it all as well since, and particularly not the heart-breakingly bad SOCOM 3. I mean, SOCOM 1 & 2 had issues... but the overall experience was so, so great you could forgive those little flaws (e.g. muddy graphics and terrible frame rate drops on certain levels) (oh and the cardinal sin of changing Abandoned to a night-time map for S2, I mean what what WHAT?). SOCOM 3, and Zipper, chose to ignore the flaws rather than fix them, and tried to plaster the cracks in the foundations with extras (more players! bigger levels! vehicles! no, no, no!) rather than rip it all down and build it from scratch. I wanted a game as smooth and detailed as, say, Black or TimeSplitters, but with SOCOM gameplay and community features. I got SOCOM 3, and I stopped playing PS2 online.
If SOCOM Confrontation wants to succeed, it needs to be more like SOCOM 1 & 2, and NOTHING like SOCOM 3. I am REALLY hoping for a "best of SOCOM 1 & 2" take on things; with 16 player games (ideal for the old community spirit), ALL the old maps from S1&2 (I still miss them, even now) plus some new ones (but no S3-style giant bring maps please) and regionalised lobbies so I can play my countrymen in relatively lag-free games. Bunching everyone together is pathetic and stinks of political correctness. Give us the option of a worldwide lobby where we can all go and play together, but for the love of SOCOM and for the sake of building communities, let Brits play with Brits, Americans with Americans, French with French etc etc. And no vehicles. They are over-rated. Tactics and gameplay depth come from the players and the team, not chucking unnecessary frilly features at it.
Sorry to go on for ages, but I utterly LOVED S1 & S2 and spent more time on them than any other game I have ever owned. Then S3 came along and, as I said, ruined everything. I hope someone at Slant Six has their head screwed on right... they did a pretty good job of the PSP games as far as I can see, so here's hoping.
End of novel. Sorry. wow, I really did love those games...
@Ungruntled: Don't worry man, I read a interview witht he guy who covered the story for EGM and he was asked to describe with one word how it was to test the game out and he answered with "nestalgic" so hopefully that'll give you a little bit of hope
@Ungruntled im pretty sure zipper has nothing to do with this particular SOCOM game I dont know where I read it but some other dev is making this game and SOCOM 4 is being developed by zipper which will have campaign and online mode- so we shall see how these new SOCOM games play out
awesome, just awesome. the PS3 is on its march towards 2nd place in the console war.
Yeah the new information and pics definitely have my intention.
bwahahahaha I hope this game doesn't feel like more of the same (tired of rehash FPSs) but I will say the PSP games have been a delight to play - and this looks AMAZING
www.socom.com is up now!!!!
i <3 socom
@KMatt: That would be pretty damn awesome.
