Scores of Final Fantasy fans queued up for the official Square Enix launch party for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, but we're a bit disappointed in the lack of ill-fitting costumes and obscenely sized swords present at the event. Flynn's report on GayGamer of the launch festivities may be lacking in comically enormous weapons and crowd-pleasing spiky hair, but it is full of tales of dedication. The first two fans in line braved a eight hour drive and a nine hour wait in line to be the first to score some Crisis Core. Hopefully, these two were rewarded beyond a simple limited edition t-shirt.
More photos of regular Joes sporting gargantuan swords await you at GayGamer. Just don't go expecting to see droves of fandom friendly outfits. Bummer.

The lack of Sephiroths was in direct correlation with the lack of Aeriths from which to drop down upon and stab with obscenely large swords.

Can you say idiotic? Seriously, is that 8 hour drive one way? That's just stupid.
He kinda lacks the stature to pull off that character.
Sephiroth is way taller with very broad shoulders.
Ah, but who gives a shit +1 for cosplay.
I went to pick up Crisis Core today and both EBgames and Wal-Mart were sold out :(
Don't cut the guy on the left or he'll... yeah.
that sephiroth looks sad.....or he could just be pondering...
anyone want to see a magic trick, slice and dice.
Hah, I walked right past all those, uh, people yesterday on my way home. I couldn't be bothered to get in line.
The Sephiroth guy (not to mention the other cosplayers) looked rather embarrassed and completely out of place. Do they get it in their minds that EVERYONE is going to play dress up as they do?
I guess next time I'm presented with the opportunity I should ask.
Well, nobody dressed up as the main characters. I see one huge ass Masamune though. Crazy.
I was actually in line maybe 8 or 9 people behind the one in the Sephiroth costume...he was kind of being an idiot on what he was doing...climbing up on garbage cans, mailboxes, news stands, almost got run over by a fire truck when he went out in the street too. I was only in line for a bit less than 4 hours, although I was number 95 in line so I just barely got the Shinra t-shirt, although the Shinra ID card is very cool.
And stunningly enough, we all got the same game, even though I just walked into my Gamestop after school and showed them my slip of paper.
And, I got that snazzy case.
@ph15h
yeah, no one dressed as Zack, although someone did dress as Tseng, and another dressed as AC Cloud with a much better costume than the Sephiroth, big sword included.
Picked up Crisis Core today also. I love it.
That is one lonely Seph, though. Perhaps he represents Sephiroth's personality in the series...
-_-
@Polywhirl: "Snazzy Case"
!?!? What Snazzy Case !?!?
@GUNDAM-RX-78-2:
I believe he means the preorder item of the Shinra UMD case which while it looks cool, is not as cool as I originally thought it'd be. It just opens up like any other case and you can put 2 UMDs in there. I won one from answering a trivia question while waiting in line during the launch event but you wouldn't be missing much by not getting one.
it was all so worth it for that shinra id card. I was right next to those guys that drove from san diego. They are freakin hardcore fans. 9th in line baby woooo
@Kidrobotp1n0y:
That ID card is very awesome. What's cooler is that I managed to get 2 because they misspelled my name the first time and they kindly made me another.
All I know is I want Frostmourne for the release of Wrath of the Lich King. Death Knight with soul consuming sword > Sephiroth imo.
bummer ey? LETS SEE WHAT THE GUYS AT GAYGAMER THINK ABOUT THIS! bloody homophobe!
@hotfire ummm, I think you are totally misinterpreting what he wrote.
pic = awww go cry emo kid
I know it's Final Fantasy 7 and all, were people bleed sweat and tears for this game, but I didn't know it would be that big a deal for people to want to wait in line for... then again, it is a Final Fantasy 7 spinoff.
@Trowble (XBL/PSN): Yeah I don't think I would have gone to the trouble of standing in line for this one. FF7 maybe, but not this. That said, I did pick it up yesterday and it's pretty damn good so far.
It seems that fanboys are getting less retarded. Maybe they´ll dress up like characters they have made instead of worshipping stuff but that would be asking too much, maybe :p
Those people in front of the line were not actually the first people in line... a few people were there since 6AM and bad luck made their line "unofficial" knocking them down to the 40s. The limited prints given as raffles were nice! I would definately pay for one of those.
I was gonna go with those guys from San Diego but I had school that day and didnt wanna miss it. I'm a huge FF7 fan (see my avatar and name) and was like 9th in line at the FF7:AC premiere so I envy the people who went to this. Those Shinra IDs and the CC shirt are freakin awesome.
