  • The 360 one was funnier.

  • I didn't find either funny. Well, I thought the 'blackballs Kotaku' pic funny.

  • okay... admittedly there are some shitty and lame things about the ps3, and sony in general.

...but theres definitely worse things about the other two companies.

...and DESPITE all that... all 3 are still good choices.

  • Still pretty funny, but Rez?

C'mon, it started on the Dreamcast and is now on XBL, why the PS hate for that?

  • I own a PS3, don't own a 360, and I'd agree with all those points.

  • wait, wait, wait. WAIT... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIT!

Rez... overrated? Guys, go get the shotgun.

  • A couple of their points were valid at least.
    Mostly fail thou.

  • The Xbox one was far funnier...

  • I understood the Rez thing as in Sony said it was overrated.

  • haha,
    little big planet
"not out yet" VERY good reason to hate ps3 :D

  • Rez IS overrated.

I loved it on the Dreamcast but Christ, time to move on...

  • Damn right, FFXI losing xp levels sucked! I died on a NM run three times before it was all over. Lost around 6200 xp...deleveled too.

  • I never watched the 360 one, but are these supposed to be serious? If so than I'm genuinely worried.

  • The tiny PS system thingum overheated? Had no idea. Did anyone actually buy one of those anyway? I'd imagine everyone who might be interested in a PlayStation already had one by the time that thing got released?

  • The original Sixaxis design was shit. I'd forgotten about that thing. Even as a Sony fanboy, I was appalled by it.

  • Some points are pretty valid but they seem to be clutching at straws quite a bit :P

  • This whole series is stupid. Way to add napalm to the gasoline.

  • could of this video have come out after metal gear solid 4. xbox got there halo 3 out last year.

  • @Cathaoir: Yeah as much as I am a Sony fanboy. I wasn't going to buy a system with something that looked like a retarded Mad Catz controller. So glad they brought back the Dual Shock design. I've used that type of controller since PS1 and have gotten really used to it.

Some of the points are good. IE: Letting Rockstar get away, shotty on-line service to start with (It's not so bad now just a few more thing and it will rock), and they have always been kinda expensive on launch. Other then those though, they really had to reach for some of these.

  • rumble is just coming out early this year.

  • Ahem.

I was about to comment on "Rez overrated", but I got beaten to it, so I will say the next thing that needs to be said...

    @Cruithne: You, GET OUT.

  • The Nintendo one will be super awesome, especially if they can get many good things pre-GameCube.

Also, there must be a PC Hate (it's free Windows and Mac jokes).

    *applauds once again*

    Simply brilliant!

I laugh now when I look at my X360 and PS3 sitting side by side next to my pc after having watched these 2 videos over the past days.

  • @dexterr: It should of had rumble from the start. Sony just didn't want to pay Immersion Corp and thought they could get away with saying "Rumble is last gen" kinda bullshit. Sony was too big for it's britches and thought it dictated how consoles should be sold. However!!!! The public wasn't ready to give up rumble as Sony wished and Sony ended up settling with the Patten squatters for 150 Million.

ANYWAY... Sony screwed up big time there, but the Dual Shock 3 is so far the best controller Sony has ever come out with. I love the white one I imported and have even gotten a lot of friends to get theirs early. I would say if you have 60 bucks you should pick it up. TOTALLY WORTH IT!

  • Awww... Come on! They didn't even touch on "this is Living" or the God of War 2 launch shenanigans!

Lame. If you're going to rip on Sony, RIP ON SONY!

  • This is a great series, we need more stuff like this.

  • Image of Cchrist Cchrist at 02:40 AM on 03/26/08 *

@Part-Time-Viking: Nah gamesradar is a site that spends alot of time on funny top 7's and 10's and stuff so when they do something like the week of hate you don't have to take it seriously well not completely. Seriously check out their site they have some funny stuff on there.

  • And why would the the non-proprietary 2.5" usage be something to hate.
Were they referring to the craptastic one for the PS2? If so then why did they show a picture of an OEM 2.5" SATA drive?
    I don't get it.

  • Weak. Sony has done worst things they didn't even mention. PSones overheat? I never knew.

  • I LOL'ed at #31 'Monkey?'

  • Raiden doesn't suck anymore.

  • This video sucked. Like 70 of the things we're either not bad or a big deal and a couple things such as "Rez overrated" or "Legend of Dragoon sucks" were just idiotic. And the fact they had the nerve to put MGS4 as two reasons was wow.

  • I was really expecting a lot worse things.

  • GIANT ENEMY CRAB!! Yeah Sony had the worse E3 ever in 2006....aww good times....and your damn right seriously what the fuck is up with home??
Daxter is CLASS!! he's a plus point dammit...
ahaha nearly died seeing the blackballed kotaku pic!
some reaching ones like the 360 but not as funny

However no mention of Devil May Crys install is just stupid! C'mon they could have should a sped up clip of the 360 one, while showing the PS3 still on the installation screen!

Also no mention of them killing lik-sang...fail

  • Seeing the cover art for "Blasto" in there reminded me of how much I miss Phil Hartman...Sigh...

Anyway, I am not a big fan of these videos but it was cool to see some old relics like the Pocketstation and the Net Yaroze. Reminds me of a time back when I got all of my information out of gaming magazines and not the internet.

  • They put overheating for Playstation?

  • #96: "Old Man Butt" (ewww)

    L. O. L.

(and, strangely, this music is stuck in my head now.)

  • #88 is what made me giggle I had to youtube Chad again. Yeah that was great. nit picking but still makes you laugh.

  • "The next gen doesn't start until we say it does."

Anyway, they should've also listed the controller as "hasn't progressed in design since the mid 90s." Has anybody ever tried to play a FPS with that piece of crap?

  • I would do a point by point rant and rave about most of those, but I realized the title is "Why FANBOYS hate the PS3"

Ok... I can handle that. I didn't watch the 360 one... I don't care why other fanboys hate it, I know why I hate it.

  • Image of Cchrist Cchrist at 03:04 AM on 03/26/08 *

@scarlet: @mishakoz: There was alot wrong with the first generation plastation. I couldn't use mine without taping the fricking lid shut and letting it stand angle. Oh and it also got very hot after a couple of hours. I swear it burnt through a scart cable once. Ha good times :P

  • Ridge Racer! RIDGE RACER!!!!

  • @Blinkman: Yup... I like it better than the 360 controller... As in a LOT better, particularly if you're doing anything OTHER than FPS games, as the D-pad on the 360 is horrible and the buttons are digital and it's not symmetrical.

Between the 360 design and the sixaxis design, it really is a matter of what you're used to. You're used to a stiffer analog stick, so you think that's better. I'm used to a looser one, and I get more control out of it that way. But no one can HONESTLY say the D-pad is better on the 360 controller, and while the new placement of the black and white buttons is an improvement, they don't quite feel as good as the L1 and R1 buttons on the sixaxis / Dualshock / Super Nintendo controller... Sony hasnt' changed it because it isn't broken.

  • I love this music. And there were plenty of lulz even if I didn't agree with a lot of it.

  • lol these are...stupid but entertaining.

  • @Blinkman: The Dualshock/Sixaxis is the best controller ever in gaming history. There's a reason why it's remained relatively the same for 3 console generations.

  • Why the hate for "Legend of Dragoon"?
Or did I get something wrong?

  • I agree with most of ya. The 360 one was a lot funnier.

  • This one was just stupid. They could have squeezed the real stuff into a top 10. The xbox was true though.

If they think that REZ is overrated, they can kiss my black ass.

  • Gamesradar is pretty much made of fail. If you find them funny, more power to you, but never go to that site for information. Ever.

  • .... >.> Really? Out of all the things that sony has screwed up on? But then again fanboy hate, is irrational hate

  • @PSN ID: Kadaj24:
Because they're too scared to change it and feel the wrath of the fanbois.
Honestly the playstation's joypad has always given my hands cramp. I'm happiest with the 360's though i firmly recognise that the DPAD is shocking and there's room for improvement in other areas.

360pad+ messenger kit + wireless headset = happy.

  • .......and many said they were nitpicking at the 360 edition.

LBP not out yet? Fake footage from Tekken 1 on PS1 (not). Crappy launch games (Resistance says hello).

I was expecting the funny, and I got nothing but the lame

  • Anyone else think this was rather nice compared to the 360 video? I hope the Wii one isn't as soft, 'cause I'd like to kick some teeth out over that console.

  • I really don't get much of the hate and I'm not the biggest Playstation fan on the planet to say the least. So the Playstation sucks because of Blasto? yeah, whatever, come up with something better. Most things aren't worth hating anyway.

Again the PSP having one stick? That's not a problem, it's the developers that suddenly are incapable of making games that only use one stick that are the problem. Both N64 and Dreamcast did absolutely fine with just one stick and nobody complained. I don't see dual analog being all that comfortable on a handheld anyway.

Real Sony problems: pushing new movie standards I don't want but still make the console twice as expensive as it should be, that's worth hating. A controller that hasn't changed in a decade is a problem. No, that's not because it's that good but because they're lazy. The worst thing is that they advertise it as the next big thing. Seriously, analog buttons that feel digital? Did someone actually buy that? Motion controls but no rumble, com on Sony!

  • I can't wait to get to a computer and watch this.......and bump to that twangy music. I can still hear it in my head from yesterday.

    Hope they kept it.

  • If there are any Wii60ers left, they're gonna be puttin' that video on their front pages.

  • Heh, for having a long time critical eye against the PS3, this one had almost nothing that fit my view of scepticism. I'm not really against the PS3 itself either, I'm getting one later this year once Europe gets DualShock and hopefully a dollar adaptation in the price as well to match the 360 prices now. No... it's Sony's treatment of the PS3 that has me sceptical such as:

    1) Outright lies. "It's not technically possible to have rumble and motion detection in the same controller." Yeah right... Way to prove yourself wrong as soon as the lawsuit with Immersion was settled.

    2) Axing of European backwards compatibility. I would be willing to pay more than the price of a PS2 in between to be able to keep them both in one unit.

    3) Removal of USB ports for the gimp machine. I mean... it's USB... you could have an internal hub to keep the ports and it would not cost much at all.

    4) Constant delays of everything. It's the game industry, so it's bound to happen... but the PS3 seems to get more of them than anything. Home and an improved online interface anybody?

    5) European and US dualshock... I mean you can import a japanese Dualshock and use straight up... it's not like you need any new drivers or anything since they're already there. So why the delay?

    6) No HD compatible cable in the box. Silly really.... they could at least have included a component cable.

    7) Euro pricing. €399 for the 40GB model is $625. Now this is a recent issue due to the decline in the dollar, but still a pretty mean issue. The japanese one at 39980 yen equals $399 as well... so why the European price?

    8) Scandinavian "luxury tax". Unlike almost any other company that takes about 10SEK per Euro (real value is about 9.4 and the rest makes up for our slightly higher sales tax), Sony has placed it at 11.25, placing it 12.5% higher that the standard market level. Before the 360 price cut, the price difference between the 360 and PS3 was twice as high compared to the rest of Europe. $746 for the 40GB model is insane. (20GB 360 is $447 in comparison here, making the 40GB PS3 model cost 67% more... quite unlike the 14% more it costs in the US.)

    9) Only bluetooth remote. While I love the idea of a bluetooth remote, and will probably love it when I get one... it does not play well with my multi-unit remote that only uses IR signals. This really is a minor issue, but it would be nice if I were able to keep all remotes in one unit even after getting a PS3 for Blu-Ray playback.

Yet, by the end of the day, these complaints still won't stop me from getting one. I could do just as long lists for the 360 and Wii (both of which I own already). So I'm not trying to be a rabid fanboy here. I just found it interesting on how much my view on the PS3s shortcomings differs from the "fanboy's" view according to this movie. But then I felt the same about the Xbox hate yesterday. The Xbox one had more points that overlapped with my view of it than this one did though.

  • meh thought they were actually gonna try with all the consoles >.> seemed desperate at the end giving each launch title their own number lol.

  • Lol at "blackballed Kotaku". Though doesn't seem as harsh as the xbox, 95% of the points are true.

  • Excuse me if this constitutes unwarrantable stereotyping and generalization, but the principle reason why I eschew the 360 is that I have an irrevocably soured opinion of the target demographic or of the archetypal user that derives from personal experience - whether my impressions are accurate or not I can't say. What I mean is that when I think of the stereotypical 360 user, I think of a neckless, rude, crass, coarse, angry, violent, aggressive, arrogant, mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging, senseless, artless, uncultured, bigoted, intolerant, testosterone-laden, jock douchebag. The XBox360 represents gaming for the "cool kids" who don't want to look like nerdy losers; it represents an opportunity for those who have an image to maintain to get into gaming.

The other reasons are as follows:

    1. Not actually cheaper when you buy all the things that come with the PS3 by default.
    2. Extremely unreliable. i.e. poor quality
    3. Just as the PS3 and Wii have a terrible game selection, so too does the XBox360. I don't know why the myth that it doesn't hasn't been thoroughly dispelled yet. Observe: Metacritic 360 scores (note how many are exclusives and how many are FPS's)
    4. It was designed by the borg.

We all know that the XBox only became successful because of Halo. It wowed the college crowd (specifically frats and jocks) that had never played videogames before and didn't know that they were actually staring at a run-of-the-mill piece of garbage containing shopworn features.

  • @bobtheduck: Wait, the buttons are digital? That seems almost criminal.
