Nothing new to report on the state of the God of War PSP bundle since we first saw it, but you may as well familiarise yourself with the deal's box art, should you be struck mute between now and its release and need to rely on furious finger-pointing to get your point across to your local GameStop employee.

yeah its great
sweetness
No, not "magenta," it's "blood-red." That one in "blood-red."
NONE SHALL DEFY ME!
I JUST finished the game. Man, I had to change boxers... this game was just insane. Can't wait for the 3rd, on PS3.
Dude. I'm FINALLY getting a PSP.
Portable Ops started the itch.
Then came the motherload:
Patapon, Crisis Core, and Chains of Olympus.
It's time.
I couldn't own a blood-red PSP.. ick.
Having said that, I really wish I could justify getting a PSP Slim, but I guess my original big fat PSP will do just fine.
Nice, now I wish my PSP weren't bricked. Stupid homebrew.
@equin0x: I have been thinking the same thing lately. I already have a DS though, do I really want a second handheld? Hmm...
@equin0x: i'm with you. i've been on the fence for so long - but it looks like i found out what to do with my economic stimulus money!
Me wants, but I'm saving up for my HDTV
Pretty neat, but I really don't understand why this isn't coming out until June. Shouldn't it be out....now? Especially now that the Star Wars one is no longer in production?
Trade in your ds for a psp.
Hmm. I'm wondering how much I can sell my white Vader PSP for on ebay...Red is my favorite color, so I'd be willing to lose a few bucks to trade up to this one.
@equin0x:
agreed. im so glad i didnt buckle down and get the darth vader psp. i mean, as cool as that would have been, this blood red PSP is just slightly better
@Afore Notation:
Obviously it's because it wasn't planned the same time a the game's release. They couldn't just rush this to the stores to meet that time, or delay the game to meet the system release.
It's pretty obvious stuff :)
Damn, running out of excuses to not get a PSP.
I'd buy one... If I didn't already have one...
Hell, I might just buy one of these packs anyways...
Glad I held off on the silver one since I really like the color of this. Except for the fact that the extended life battery pack only comes with silver and black covers. If Sony had any decency, yes I know, then they'd include an appropriately colored one for the bigger battery with these.
@gusiskirby: Find a friend, and use Despar Del Cementaro or Pandora's Battery to reflash a fresh firmware on to it.
Cough dark-alex.org cough.
@LittleBigPlaneteer: Perhaps. Yet they didn't have any trouble doing this with Rogue Squadron, and Chains of Olypus was as a Sony game. I kind of wonder if they purposefully unsynchronized the release dates, as around June Chains of Olympus will have been out long enough to merit Greatest Hits standing as far as sales go (but we all know they won't be taking this price drop until much later)
Had a PSP been Christmas...some fun, but overall disappointed...except for a licensed Gundam game in a language I don't know. Go figure. GoW, Crisis Core should be great, and I have only just started MGS Portable Ops, so there should be more than enough ahead.
@SuperMaxZero: IF you like RPG's, there's no way you can be disappointed in the PsP.
I got mine in november, and I still have to beat Disgaea, Final Fantasy Tactics, Patapon, Crisis Core, and Puzzle Quest.
It's like the little handheld RPG machine that could.
Love the game, but not the color. I'm happy with my Piano Black Slim.
Looks hot. My cousin is gonna pick one of these up, I already caved in with the silver one. A great purchase for anyone who wants a friend for their DS, or wants a portable system period.
...and although he had been veritably diagnosed with acute laryngitis earlier that week, he was determined and steadfast in his resolve to purchase the God Of War/PSP Bundle.
Drawing the strength from deep within, he stumbled into his local GameStop and, with his last ounce of strength, whispered in a hoarse and trembling voice:
"The PSP... with... God Of War... please."
I don't need it... but so shiny, I must have
I used to be anti PSP all the way back when it first came out. I've smartened up since then, and I got a silver psp last October. The handheld really seems to have gotten a lot of good games in the past year. I couldn't recommend it more.
@Kenninator: Same... the media player capabilities and a couple of RPGs I wanted to play were what sold me on the system, and I don't regret making the purchase.
Oh god, I sound like a complete shill.
@gusiskirby: You can unbrick it. There are people who you can find via craig's list who have ways of doing so. It's cheap relatively; about 10 to 20 bucks for the process, and it takes about 5 to 10 minutes.
@Kenninator: I agree. Not that you sound like a shill, but that at first it seemed like a neat little device and that was about it. Then they presented me with Jeanne D'Arc, Disgaea, FFT and a new slimmer package. Bought the Daxter pack the first day it was out and haven't looked back since. Totally worth it.
@Lowbar: Disgaea, FFT and Valkyrie Profile were enough to sell me on it's merits (finally). Unfortunately, I still haven't bought one. :(
grr... WHY red. WHY... Why can't they come out with a Lime Green or Tangerine PSP... grr
ANYONE know of one of those sites that colors PSPs for you? I want a slim in my colors
I think this will finally get me to jump in and buy a PSP. Too bad it wasn't released along side Chains of Olympus. No memory stick with this bundle?
I'm just gonna have to get this. I mean, a Blood-red PSP Slim, God of War, Superbad, AND Syphon Filter?!?! Looks like my PSP Phat is going bye-bye soon.Any info on if it comes with a memory stick larger than 32 mb?
@Polywhirl: Except for Crisis Core, the other games you listed are RPG hybrids. Disgaea and Final Fantasy Tactics are strategy RPGs. Puzzle Quest is a puzzle RPG. Patapon is a music rthythm RPG.
This distinction may not matter to you but it does to many people who like RPGs but dislike the other genres these games are hybridized with.
@Polywhirl:
Hmm, somehow I forgot about FF Tactics. That brutally murdered a week and a half of my christmas break, and I mean that in the best way possible.
Plus, I need to check out the Valkyrie Profile remake. Missed it on the PS1, so why not...
@GeeQnastie: The only site i know that does custom coloring of game consoles is colorware [www.colorwarepc.com] And i know play asia has a green psp [www.play-asia.com] Problem with the import green is its mint green not lime. Problem with colorware is they dont do psps yet theyll start coloring them april 14th i believe. Hope that helps.
@hun_nomin: loooooool
But I somehow managed to lose my first PSP, and I need another to play all these cheap games I got from Toys R Us. I hate to admit it, but the PSP is starting to look more appealing by the day... :(
I dont understand why this is coming out well after COO already came out. This shouldve came out the same day as the game.
I was gonna get a new PSP just recently, seeing as it's a good deal better than the one I currently own, but then I realized this bundle is coming out, so I'm waiting.
Mute: *points at God of War PSP display box fervently*
Gamestop employee: So wait, you want to reserve 5 games AND get two subscriptions to Game Informer?"
psp is on a roll for 08, i hope this trend continues for the rest of the year.
I held off on getting GOW for the PSP just so I could get this bundle. It's all good though, I have PLENTY to keep me busy until then, with FF:CC out this week, R^:V2 right on, GTA 4 coming out later this month, and the Battle field beta on 360, I'm pretty set for now.
@KillerAJD:
Trust me, it's better to pick out your own memory stick.
If they bundled one it would be Sony. SanDisk makes them faster and cheaper.
@snakepliskin: Wow... a response... and actual knowledge too... lol. Thanks for being a REAL forum poster...
ooh. And to all of those who read my post and didn't/couldn't answer, I'm not tryin to dis anyone... just giving credit where it's due
@Polywhirl: Don't forget Jeanne D'Arc for the PSP. Awesome RPG... characters, presentation, and playtime are all off the chart.
I'm quite happy with my Mint Green psp but I only settled for it because June is too much of a wait to catch up on all the sweet psp games that have come out in the past few months.
@VishusBurn: Oh, I realize that. I have two 1gb sticks myself. I was just wondering if it came with an additional one, or would I be needing to buy another. I can't fit some of my movies on my current memory sticks since they are JUST above 1gb. I was planning on getting a 2gb or a 4gb stick if this one didn't come with one.
@MrBionic:
My justification was that the disk drive gave out on my PSPhat with less than two months until the PSP Slim. I ended up getting the silver Slim, which sits next to my Phat. The Phat is still good for everything but gaming, so if I need to watch videos on the road, I can use that and not worry about batteries on my regular one.
mmm blood red psp...me want...ohh!! wouldn't a blood red PS3 be badass!
If you honestly think that's Blood-red, you're deluding yourself. See that stripe on Kratos's back there? That's blood-red. This is "It matched my purse!" red.
I think the red probably doesn't lend it self well to photography.
It's kind of a Cherry or Candy-apple red if this is the same one the japanese have out now. One of my friends imported. Quite nice looking and not as adept to smudging as the black!
A bit off topic but I think a "orange and black" Patapon PSP would be kick ass! I'm just putting it out there.
It's really cool looking, but why are they waiting so long to release it? God of War was the game the kinda pushed me over the edge to buy a PSP (again), but I'm not going to wait three more months.
Man that is awesome! I think I will sell my 360 so I can get that bundle.
@MrBionic: Haha same there's not enough to justify upgrading, but I want to...just because.
It's a hideous colour, I guess it's worth having for the limited edition status, but it's one step above the stupid Darth Vader one in my eyes.
@TearsandScreams: "It's a hideous colour" - No, this is a hideous color: [kotaku.com]
I actually don't mind the color so much. It's the face on the back that bothers me. Why couldn't they have just put the Greek letter on the back - or even better, on the the UMD door - and called it good. I just don't think I'd want to have to explain to everyone around me who the heck Kratos is.
I love these little hints and tidbits about the bundle, but this is positively killing me to wait. I even bought a case and screen protector for it, and it's not out until June!
I haven't had a handheld since the first generation Gameboy (which I still own), so I'm looking forward to the new PSP experience.
@smuai: you read my mind....that sounds like a delightful way to stimulate the economy. It definitely finally feels like the PSP has reached worthwhile buy status. And the red color means less fingerprint wiping, more Kratos glaring at random subway people! Win-win all the way.
