I love it how sometimes you go to forums littered with fanboys and there are those inevitable 360 fanboys who argue that the game can't possibly succeed on the PS3 for such and such a reason. It's malarky. The game's going to be a monster success, you heard it here!

Well, a drink to all those who said "MGS 4 will fail because it's on PS3."

For what it's worth, word has it that there were EXTREMELY tight supplies of these limited console systems. I mean, normal game stores having raffles for the rights to preorder, assuming they even were able to get a hold of the thing. Hell, if Mcwhertor wanted to color the article some more he coulda pointed out that the Konami store website basically got hit with a virtual DDoS that nearly took the site down since so many people were trying to get preorders in for the system from Konami Style.

And know what, I can pretty much bet that over half of those consoles are going to be on Yahoo Auctions (ebay never took off in Japan) selling to the highest bidder. That's what seems to happen with every fucking 'limited release' that's actually in demand these days.

How on earth can they not think this would sell like wildfire here in the states. I would pay a premium over a normal PS3 to get this over the piano black, and can't wait for the kit. I have been holding out for either a GTA, GT5, or MGS4 bundle before I got a PS3.

@TheIrishNinja: the thing is not everyone and their mom wants the damn game. its only the hardcore mgs fanboys that already own or do not own a ps3. the game will be a success but not a monstrous one million a week seller. Also pointed out its not listed how many mgs ps3's were made. so god only knows they could have made less than one thousand. so this is nothing to be "zomg who sayz gaem not gonna seeeellll!!!11joenoeno." statement yet.

I think play asia and some other importers bought up a couple and are gonna sell them on their site, thats what im guessing this is --> [www.play-asia.com] Expect to pay quite a premium though

What is the japanese equivalent of hotcakes? I wonder if there's a conversion between american hotcakes, what we really need is a global hotcakes system. that'd make things so much easier.

@DarkTravesty: You can hardly say that, this game has built up alot more than other MGS games - same with halo 3.

I dont remeber other halo games getting as much press as halo 3 did

This game will get alot of new people into the series because of all the hype surrounding it, and the fact that there are so many die-hard MGS fans then that will just increase first day sales.

(and just for anyone who wants to argue that halo 3 > MGS4 - then u clearly mis-understood what i was saying)

What im saying is games this generation are getting alot more hype than previous ones, so just cause the other games in the series were usually only for actual MGS fans this one will get alot of non-MGS fans

From a marketing standpoint though, this is great news for Konami. I think they're following the Wii example of limiting supply quantity so much that demand soars. I bet they're holding back an extra batch of limited editions consoles for launch.

Thing is this is before the advertising has even started (in the US at least). I'd love to see the spike in orders once the tv spots start hitting.

But can we get the DS3 in that gray? I really want one.

Only a couple of months more to go...I wouldn't be surprised if this opens a floodgate of new titles coming to the PS3.

It's going to be a big double-edged sword when the time comes to play this. Knowing this is most probably Kojima's last MGS game yet also marveling at how everything is done well (I'm very optimistic).

@excaliburps: Only difference really between the US and the JP versions of the bundle are that the US version is "black" and the JP is "steel" (read: greyish).

I'm not a huge MGS fan, but it's still a completely awesome bundle.

I'm waiting for the MGS4 bundle in the States for the 80 GB system...trust me...waiting 'til June is KILLING ME!!!
