    Let The Vomiting Commence!

    To: Fahey
    From: Bashcraft
    RE: Webkinz is Crack

Well, not quite yet. Last time Mrs. Bashcraft was pregnant, the first trimester was bad. Real bad. She had this condition, which is apparently super rare and means that she couldn't keep anything down at all. She was throwing up something like twenty times a day. She was dehydrated, and it's was horrible. For about a month and a half, she was in and out of the hospital, being fed through with tubes. We were worried that she wouldn't be able to deliver, that she herself wasn't going to make it. She of course did with no complications whatsoever. And Mini Bash is as healthy as can be.

Vivid memory: Still a few months before we would find out the baby's sex, we were sitting in a taxi the umpteenth way to the hospital, and Mrs. Bashcraft had the cab driver pull over so she could vomit. The taxi driver gave her a yellow towel to wipe her face and said, "You realize, you are going to have a son."

But, honestly, that last morning sickness was so hard (and we were so young!) that it really frightened us from having another kid. Granted, once she made it through the morning sickness, she had that beautiful glow expected mothers often have. She was finally able to keep her food down and just radiate. Magnificently.

Last weekend, she started feeling sick. Knowing the worst case scenario, we have been reading up on how to handle her morning sickness. Lots of fruits, crackers, small meals, eat ginger, etc. If she throws up more than five times in a day, we rush her to the hospital. So far, she's been able to keep her food down. Besides blogging all day, writing magazine articles and finishing up a book, I've been the cooking, housework and taking care of Mini Bash, who's been spending his Spring Break learning fun games like Help-Daddy-Wash-The-Dishes and Let's-Take-Out-The-Trash. Kid's been a real trooper.

We're only a few days into the morning sickness and still have a month plus to go. I have another chapter of my book due soon, and I'm starting to feel stressed as hell, but trying not to show it, because I don't want my wife to have added stress of pressure. Hopefully, this month won't be too bad. Fingers crossed.
