Don't worry, 360 owners, when Ubisoft dropped the ball on the PS3 version of Rainbow Six Vegas 2, they didn't forget about you, either. While the 360's problems aren't as dramatic as the online shambles currently affecting the PS3 iteration, it's still littered with bugs and glitches, the most annoying of which are stat-tracking issues and a gamerscore hiccup that prevents anyone who's carried their data over from the first RSV game from earning some early achievements. As with the PS3 version, 360 owners experiencing issues are asked to complain officially (but politely!) on the game's forum.

lets hope they fix it quick...
this is what happens when the game is rushed so quickly. It's funny, because I expected this when I first saw the "trailer" for the game at the VGA's.
Okay, now I'm really wondering what Ubisoft did with that year and a half. Play darts? Actually go to Vegas? Because they certainely didn't spend that time making a game. Or maybe it's the most advanced run button in the history of video games, and it was simply so powerful that it actually broke an online system they had working on an identical game they came out with over a year ago.
Now kids, what does the Tom Clancy cash cow say?
"MOOOO!"
F this game and Ubisoft together. I had high hopes for this title, as I absolutely loved the original R6 Vegas, but they dropped the ball.
It seems more like an expansion than a fully fledged sequel. It personally isn't worth my 60 dollars and I won't be buying it anytime soon.
Then add on bugs/glitches to the disappointment that it was already and it just is to much for me... I'm sick of money grubbing developers anymore, I really am.
thats noobisoft for you. the EA of shooter devs.
heh, way to look like idiots Ubisoft.
so now that they own the rights to use the "TOM CLANCY" name will each patch be official? "Tom Clancy Bug Patch 1.0"
Oh great, now both systems are sucking wtih RSV2. Now no-one wins... but who gets a patch first?
If the game runs fine on both systems then people who own the game surely can give Ubisoft enough time to make the game better.
You know, we could just combine the two topics together into "EA can't even make a proper game anymore".
PS3 version isn't only broken online, it's broken offline too. It's a slideshow. The FPS drops are annoying at best. I was a huge fan of Vegas 1 but I believe Ubisoft lost their magic touch with the Rainbow series.
Wow! between there consistently crap Wii shovelware and gimped game releases, Ubisoft is only going up
@nolifedopestar (PSN: noliferuin): you know ez owns 25% of ubisoft its par for the course :)
@TheEngineer: Kirbytheslayer is awesome.:
Oops, I meant Ubisoft. Actually, EA too. Both sort of suck and have been releasing really shitty news in the past couple days.
God, Ubisoft sucks.
err *EA
@Knight-Zero: The Wii?
Game sequels pop way too fast. I think it cheapens the game, to know you'll get "anyname" 2 in the next few months. Why even bother to buy the current version if you can play next.
@RYAMATSU: To be more precise, Epic has never gotten it right on the PS3. Remember, how this runs on UE3? It looks like Ubi's luck ran out when they tried to use another engine. They should have just continued to stay in-house with it...
@Paladin58: But, almost forgot, I have no clue why this has EPIC FAIL written all over it for the 360 version. My brother is downstairs having a blast with it right as I type.
wut, iz zis sum pc gaming trend? release it then jus patch em later?
I think the glitches in the game are kind of hilarious.. single player ones, at least - a rifle spinning around in midair, a guy just walking on the wall while shooting at my fiance (no chord, mind you, he jumped from the floor to the wall randomly).. cracks me up.
hopefully they get things fixed up though!
Thats just sad, or at least it would be if I had actually expected Ubisoft to put out a product that actually worked on day one let alone at all. I suppose this is what happens when you don't actually play test the games before shipping them out to market.
@Paladin58:
Really? I think that this could be used as more evidence that the UE3 is at best a pretty good engine with lots of time and patience. But Epic did good with UT3 on the PS3. In fact, that kind of experience won't be possible on the 360. Granted, a lot of it was Sony's doing, letting players play fan made mods on the PS3.
@GranzonTotoro: Are you french? Oh my god! Are you Ubisoft? Oh oh even better! Are you a Ubisoft spy? or are you a Ubisoft spy who is also a ninja?
Ubisoft's statement was this:
This issue is currently being worked on by the development team. Unfortunately, we do not have an ETA on when it will be resolved, but it should not be long.
[www.destructoid.com]
So I guess Condemned is going to get played before I even crack this one open. I just won't play it until it gets patched. First time I've ever bought a game that wasn't finished yet.
How is it possible to make a game that is so similar to its predecessor and yet so bug ridden? I'm starting to worry about the way big name publishers handle their releases. There is no need to explain whats wrong with EA, but Ubisoft is another issue. I hope things don't get worse before they get better, but I think that is the way things are heading.

Job description
Candidates should be experienced game players who are familiar with the Windows 95 environment. Excellent written and oral communications skills are necessary. Candidates must be meticulous with strong attention to detail.
Really Ubisoft windows 95, couldn't spring for something made in the last decade to use. Also, game players? Is that like hiring someone who installed an snes into his body or something?
I haven't been playing it like crazy, but I played it enough to not have one problem. Co-op campaign and T-Hunts are working fine! The Multiplayer I've been on and off of but not a problem, neither have any of my friends who play it more than me.
Chan always gets stuck.
As well shitty AI.
Its just not exciting it really take's away on the gameplay.
and this EXP system blows, im not playing an RPG I hate rpg's.
I actually like the new XP and ACES system. I think it works well to keep you interested. And the fact that the points your earn from single player carries over to multiplayer and visa-versa is nice. I like the game, I just wish the sound errors and online fuck-ups would fix up.
@Jamaces: Yeah I lost Chan down in the carpark took me a while to realise I'd lost him had to walk all the way back & get him.
Enemy AI is poor also they take cover you wait till they poke their heads out.
The hardest part for me was adjusting to the controls coming off a few months of COD4 I blew myself up a couple of times.
I think I remember a time when Ubi released good games I just can't actually remember the games, early splinter cell, GRAW????
Massive slowdown in the single player. Glitches and bugs on every single level. Bland maps for terrorist hunt. Ridiculous trigger-spawns for the enemies. Massive spawn camping in team deathmatch (this, like R6:V1, was not a game designed for respawns).
those are some of the reasons why i am selling this game less than a week after getting it.
and as someone previously said, this is not a new stand alone game, more like an expansion pack. and paying £35 for an expansion pack is not my idea of good value.
SHIT! F**king Bill Gates! HE! ALWAYS! DOES! THIS! I hate M$ RROD shitty XBLA soo much! Suckxors!!! SUCKXORS!!! CRREEECCCCNNNNNTTTTTTEEEEEEE!1!!one!!
....ahhhhh....
Ok, it's all out of my system.Seriously though, with the introduction of Hard drives and online connectivity (I understand the complications that comes with connectivity, period), don't you get the feeling sometimes that developers aren't doing due-diligence to their QA process? As a developer, I know it's hard as these things become more complicated but all these launch issues really begins to wear my consumer resolve :(
@PapaBear434:
I totally agree with you about XP and ACES.
I don't think the game is really that bad. I enjoy being able to run a lot more. It is nice to have a slower paced tactical shooter to play.
I'm still going to pick it up.
Trust me, the jaded gamer within howls with rage but I still need my RS fix.
@splines:
then get it with RB6 vegas, this game cant even compare man. the new maps suck, and some are just recycled... the game play is practically identical, and the single player campaign is crap.
I've been playing it on 360 for the past couple of days and haven't had any problems. I discovered early on the fix for the lag problem was to only join games with a "green" latency. (Go figure, right?)
The only thing that kind of bothers me is the Private First Class achievement being glitched, but that isn't a huge deal to me like it is to some people.
I'm surprised how much some of you guys are hating on the game... =/
Anyone who played RB6:Vegas loses out on the PFC achievement. That's 5 stinking points.
What you really need to work on is the 75pt "Beat game on Realistic difficulty" achievement. I played through the whole game on Realistic SOLO and I didn't get the achievement. I had to do some silly work around in a co-op match.
@splines: prepare to be underwhelmed
Straight up, if you want us to buy it on day 1 for $59.99 it needs to actually work on day 1. I used to feel kinda bad waiting for $39.99 and $49.99 deals on new games, but lately I'm feeling great about it. Sort of a dumb message for developers to be sending, but trust me, we're hearing it loud and clear. I'll wait the first month of release for the bugfix and the price drop from now on, thank you very much.
What makes this specific example even more stupid is Ubisoft HAS the first Vegas title working properly and extensively debugged on both PS3 and 360 platforms. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that you should have used that code for the sequel. Here's the appropriate time to actually be lazy and they chose to reinvent the wheel instead? WTF. Just sell yourselves to EA if you're going to be this dumb, then we can all enjoy blaming EA for your mistakes instead.
I dont know about anybody else but im tired of the ps3 hate because im playing R6V 2 on 360 and ive ran into hella bugs in the single player. One envolving my teammate got stuck in a room and i could not get him out for nothing so i decided to go on without him and the game started to slowdown horribly. Then another involved on the rooftop where you fight a ton of guys and I killed every one of them and the helicopter did not even show up to pick me up. I had to complete the entire scene over AND IT DONT HELP THAT I WAS ON REALISTIC DIFFULCULTY. have fun
@RYAMATSU: "The FPS drops are annoying at best"
The 360 version has frame rate drops too. Some of them are really bad, actually. I think it was in mission 2 act 2 or 3 in a large room that I was getting really bad frame rate.
I have been playing this with a buddy for terrorist hun though. I forgot how freggin' fun this game is. Hopefully they'll fix it soon so I get my 10 gamerpoints or whatever and fix some of the glitchiness.
Me and a buddy have been having a good time with the game. We've managed to beat the campaign on normal and the terrorist hunts on realistic.
The only problem we've had with the game was the final stage in the campaign. The framerate dipped so low it was almost unplayable. And it wasn't for moments here or there, it was the entire time that damn helicopter was in the area.
Oh, and the terrorist hunts can be annoying with the way the enemies spawn, but that's not too bothersome.
Otherwise, we've been having fun. I'm not a huge fan of shooters anymore, but I still enjoy clearing a room of terrorists with quick precision.
@uppitycracker, Rockwallaby: Damn. Damn!
Must. Resist. Urge...
@Noks415: "How is it possible to make a game that is so similar to its predecessor and yet so bug ridden?"
Easy: they juryrigged the old game with new content without properly QA testing it. That might not be entirely true though - it could have been thoroughly QA tested, but higher ups just said "fuggit!" and shipped it anyway.
New problems?
-Horrid texture and polygon issues on boot(and not fixed until rebooting)
-Being stuck in the helicopter when joining a coop game.
Old problems:
-Freezing/crashing
-Stuck gunfire
-Lag handling (though not bad compared to many games)
-Disconnect issues
-Texture pop-in issues during loads(and sometimes during gameplay)
Old "other" problems:
-Spawning and trigger points in terrorist hunt
-Your CPU teammates get lost and you have to go fetch them because they're lost or shopping
-Spawning and trigger points in terrorist hunt
-Spawning and trigger points in terrorist hunt
-13 year old sailors love this game
And that's only the stuff I can think of inside of 5 minutes.
@TheEngineer: Rocking the Goggles: Yeah, you make a good point about UT3. That would be one of the downsides of Microsoft being so tight-assed about their Xbox Live 'ecosystem' (btw, where did they come up with that crappy name for 'system' or 'network') secure, we can't get any user content like mods and user-made maps. I still remember them talking about us getting our own user-made content that the gamers would make, and that we would then be able to sell it (they never said whether the seller would get profits, but still, a cool concept). Still waiting on that...
This in itself is kind of hilarious. Not the incident itself but how everyone here is handling it. Everybody is acting like this is the first time something of this sort has happened ever. This has been an trend in videogames longer than most of you know. It has always been much easier for devs. to patch a game after it comes out. Just please for the life of me and everyone here let's look into the past of gaming, many many PC games at launch had a patch to download. So why are we all crying over this? It is going to get fixed and it isn't so buggy that it's unplayable (the 360 version that is) and it is still a fun game. Let's find something more intresting to talk about....like say the woman who was epicly owned by a sting ray.
@oosiegewolfoo: The issue is that it's THE SAME GAME, and it's having these issues. Mass Effect, a brand new game, on a brand new engine has troubles? Annoying, but understandable. A game that came out over a year ago has troubles? We're going to be understandably pissed.
And there's nothing funny about stingray deaths.
R.I.P. Steve Erwin.
Oh wait. You mean all the slow downs during firefights with more than 5 people weren't the cool matrix effects?
Its exactly as I said it was. This is the same game exactly as the first one with a few different stages and a sub-par "Objectives" system to copy COD4. I"m glad they finally added a freakin sprint button. I mean, come on, what "real-life" soldier wouldn't haul ass if a grenade was lobbed his direction?
I love the game, don't get me wrong and am enjoying it. But for everyone that said this is going to be the greatest FPS of the year, well now you know better.
They didn't even fix the bugs that were in the first one for this game.
This is completely a typical Ubisoft release. Rush it out the door and then watch the thousands of complaints come piling in as they work on a patch.
I could make a list of the things they needed to fix back on the first one that are still wrong with this one.
As far as server issues, I have only seen a bit of lag here and there, but other than that, its been fine. Campaign mode is fun, but the team AI is dumb as rocks as always. Enemy AI has gotten dumber than the first one, even on "Realistic" mode.
What they should have done is, bundle all these new maps they created, and sell it as a Map-Pack for a few hundred MS points. This is basically Rainbow Six: Vegas 1.5.
@Bishmon: Yeah, that helicopter level is almost unplayable. Other than that, I really like the game, actually.
I can has PFC achievement?
I was thinking about buying the PC version next month but if this is any indication, very little has changed. I think I'll pass and maybe purchase when I find it in the bargain bin a couple months from now.
Now if retailers got involved in situations like this, withholding the sale of a bunk product until any game affecting problems have been resolved, I bet studios would think twice about what they release. A chain like EB Games refusing to sell (for example) Vegas 2 would definitely get some attention.
This kind of shit is not acceptable when one buys pretty much any other product and it is not acceptable with games either. I guess it can be "justified" because of the ability to patch. Ubisoft should tender an offer to refund any purchaser that wishes it, via major retail chains such as EB Games or Best Buy, etc etc. Most probably wouldn't take up the offer but it might go along way with gamers to demonstrate that Ubisoft actually cares how playable their products are.
And no I don't think what I said is unreasonable in the slightest.
This is the Ubisoft way nowadays though isn't it? Knock out a "sequel" out in a year, and fix none of the bugs that were in the previous title. I'm surprised so many gamers put up with it - all the ire that we so often direct at EA should also be shared with Ubisoft.
R6V2 is particularly disappointing as it features many of the same audio bugs that were present in the previous title, and if anything worse framerate problems. None of the levels or set pieces are as interesting or as dramatic as the previous game either - it feels like a bunch of leftovers from the R6V cutting-room floor such as warehouses, corridors etc. Also they've managed to make the match-making online play much more clunky and less reliable for this "sequel". If this had been put out as a map pack or expansion that'd be one thing, but there is absolutely no way Ubisoft can justify putting this out as a full price release.
GRAW was a bug ridden mess, as was GRAW2. Splinter Cell Double Agent was a buggy mess too, as was R6V and R6V2. Lost was a bad joke. Assassins Creed worked well enough but it was a horrible, dreary, dirge of an experience to play. How many bad games do these guys get to put out before we stop buying them?
