When Tecmo announced last year that its classic footballer Tecmo Bowl was returning to unlicensed glory in 2008, it failed to mention just about anything beyond that. No platform, no details, nothing but the sting of nostalgia. However, if the most recent rumors from EGM are to be believed, Tecmo Bowl is coming to the Nintendo DS and Wii, albeit in too very different forms.
The monthly rumor column from Quarterman says that a "classic version" of Tecmo Bowl is coming to the DS, with a "modern remake" Wii-bound. Considering that 1UP's account says that we can expect info in an upcoming issue "very soon" I suspect they know what they're talking about.

Huh.....Downloadable Ratchet and Clank? Temco Bowl? Mommy?
Hey Tecmo, pick up that CFL license!
Oh sorry the link was right got a big confused there
@Torgen thinks AAA means "Costs $60": Only if i'm allowed to draft players who are already dead! Or name 2 out of 9 teams with the same name! <3 CFL =P
The DS version sounds intriguing, I wonder if its basically gonna just be the NES version straight up or if they're gonna redo the graphics while retaining functionally similar gameplay...also it seems like it would be cool if a football game let you use the stylus to sketch plays, but thats just me.
@Thrillhaus: I just want them to bring back the Ottawa Renegades. Damn that's a fine team name. Of course, the Baltimore CFLers were great, but for different reasons.
I wonder how this will turn out.
Wii? DS? Personally as long as its on the PS3, It won't effect my ability to play it.
But will it still be fun? I mean, I don't see how you could change a football game much from what we have.
HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT!!!!
I need to the NFL rosters to be able to play Tecmo Bowl.
I'll stick to my emulator and rom roster updates. Only reason I have an emulator on my computer is for Tecmo Bowl USFL and XFL
@Kaemon: I don't think they've said it will be on the PS3. This way I guess they don't have to compete with 2K's All-Pro.
Its to be EA has such a stranglehold on the license, cause no real roster is not good.
100 Yard passes and supersonic running backs, please.
@DaiMacculate: I don't think you're alone on that Stylus football idea. It'd be cool to draw your own plays, or somehow use it to pass the ball.
@Torgen thinks AAA means "Costs $60": The Stallions? They were supposed to be the Colts, but that wasn't allowed, even though it was CFL rather than NFL. Stupid Mayflower.
i'll buy it even tho i don't and won't buy a Wii simple to support a possible HD version with no graphic's change and online support for the PS3 ^_^
So, they are going to make this $10 cheaper than Madden because it doesn't have any licensing, right?
Touchdown! Thurman Thomas!
A remake of the original on the DS???? I hope they have wifi support.
@See Lynn? Fanboy!: I meant that period when they were ostensibly the Baltimore CFL Colts, but even using Colts like that wasn't allowed, so everyone called them the Baltimore CFLers. Also, I think stadium announcements left a pause for the crowd to yell 'Colts!' when introducing the team. And by $10 less, do you mean $50 or $40?
@Squeegoth: Thank you, I almost had to come here and say it myself.
@Torgen thinks AAA means "Costs $60": Lol. I totally forgot about the "CFL colts"! That was awesome...
Somebody better pick up that CFL license! It's quick exciting 'pass-oriented' football while still sticking as close to the caliber of play in the NFL as possible in the world. It's doing GREAT in Canada, so it's about time!
