Totally unexpected news, this, but welcome news nonetheless! Seems Target stores in the US are stocking shirts featuring characters and designs from small-time, independent games. And not rubbish ones, either, awesome ones like Tower of Goo. That's not even the best part: if you buy the shirt, you get a snazzy physical copy of the game as well. All for just $12. If you're looking for somebody to congratulate for such a brilliant idea, look no further than EGP Apparel, an offshoot of the Experimental Gameplay Project.

I have seen these! Did not know they came with games though? I do not believe I have seen the game with the shirts at mine; perhaps Targets just recently got the game promotions to go with them?
That's pretty cool... My only problem with target is they can never keep a god damn product in place. I always find it somewhere else. That's probably the customer's fault though...
Wow. That's just so awesome.
Damn, and I was just at Target today!
I don't know what the 2nd shirt on top is, but it has my interest.
I work there, maybe I'll pick something out tomorrow, it'll be cheap with my 65% discount. Nah, just kidding, it's only 10% :(
Brilliant idea! Just love it!
Now to find a Target that isn't 30 miles away...hmmmmm...
Okay, I'm going to Target tomorrow. O_O
@romBox: Think about ordering online?
That's fantastic! On a side note, does anybody know a release date for World of Goo yet? I pre-ordered my copy - I can't wait for the vulgarity patch
I work there, maybe I'll stop by the mens section tomorrow. I get to use my 65% discount too.......nah just kidding, it's only 10% :(
sweeeeeeeeet....
definitely want a Gish shirt
I work there, maybe I'll stop by the mens section on my break tomorrow and check them out. Plus I get to use my 65% discount......nah, it's only 10% :(
Great idea, but they seem to only have EGP games which are already free. Great to get the message out about the site, and about the games there, but not a whole lot of help to Indi developers unless they actually start putting out shirts from other games/sites.
I kind of have mixed feelings about this. It seems as though people are going to start playing a game because they like the shirt rather than because they like the game. I would still like to see a Katamari shirt being sold at a retail store with some kind of new version of the game included.
@ocalot:
I don't know why, but I have a hard time buying clothing online. I need to see and feel it before buying. But thanks for the suggestion!
Well, I must say, I guess I do need some new shirts.
The only problem is, knowing Target, there's no way I'll actually get my hands on one.
When the Spy vs. Spy shirt came out, they advertised it like crazy, I went the day it was supposed to be out, and they had no knowledge of it ever existing, despite having a display of the shirt.
The one with the tree is the only one you could wear inconspicuously in public, though.
this is good idea esp for us indie developers.
Ok... I live in Canada... would LOVE to get this great deal, and try out a couple cool tshirts... any way thats possible? Can't find em online...
Me wants :(
I wish i had access to this kind of stuff.
Holland sucks.
yeah i saw them last Thursday, but the shirts did not interest me even if it comes with a game in it.
OK, so according to your posts today, Holland, N+, SOCOM, Two Worlds, and Shadow of Colossus all suck. Is there a reason why you are so bitter today and why everything sux today? Did you wake up on the wrong side of life this morning?
@c-lin' Fanboy: That was at Cchrist
No fucking way! I'm off to Target!
I'm holding out for the 'Lemeza in a skimpy swimsuit' T-shirt... (and if you got that, GO OUTSIDE! :P)
I have like 10 shirts from Target. I love their graphic tees!!! Very cool designs.
Do the what now? Quality gaming shirts that come WITH the game?!?!?!
*hops into the car*
@See Lynn? Fanboy!: Hmmm dunno maybe it's because its gone 6 in the morning and i havent slept yet or maybe just maybe those things really do suck in my book.
But i never said shadow of the colossus sucks. You have to take that one back. I would never say a bad word about those poor colossi (is it colossi? or just colossus?)
I also like the word suck. It has alot of s'es just like my name.
@Cchrist: Besides i've also said positive stuff today. it's been about 50/50.
What?! More reasons to love Target?! The t-shirts are actually good looking, too.
Target sells bureaus too, right? I'm going to need some more drawer space.
Aren't these the guys that sold the Nazi tees?
@See Lynn? Fanboy!: But two worlds, does in fact, suck.
I dont recognize a single game...
Headed to Target first thing tomorrow!
@The Great Aussie Evil: No, that was Walmart.
But you know your subculture is mainstream when it shows up at Hot Topic. Er Target? Oh shit. Well, I'll swing by tomorrow and buy them anyways.
A couple weeks ago, I visited a former coworker at EA, and he was wearing a Rock Band t-shirt. I'm thinking he works at EA, probably got it from the company store. I was going to hit him up for one, but then he tells me he got it from Target. My head asploded.
Wow
I really have to go to Target.
I should be driving by two of them tomorrow so I will try and pick up a shirt or two.
That's amazing. Hope the site comes online soon for all of us non-US peeps to order from. :)
Luke: any chance of a heads up when it does?
Too bad there aren't ny Targets where I live. Guess I'll have to look for all this on eBay.
@Green-clad Gamer Dude: I never thought I'd hear or read someone say that.
I would totallly buy a "Chalk" shirt with art by Konjak at target...best indie game ever.
Chalk is just pure awesome.
Still need to play Noitu Love 2 though...
Gotta check my Target today.
@mitch079: Sad, I know.
I am so grabbing me a few of these
