XGen Studio's Defend Your Castle is coming to WiiWare on May 12 and it's looking kinda cool. I especially like how you will be apparently be using items found around the garage to take on the "barbarian hordes." Looks cute and clever, a winning combination in my book.

I'll be defending my castle on May 12th.
Damn that was a lot of people at the end of it.
It's as you say, cute and clever. Now it mostly comes down to price.
art style looks cool, but im not too sure if the fun factor would last enough
I will most certainly be taking up arms and defending my castle!
The original was pretty fun, I dont know about this version.. might be fun with the wiimote.
I can kinda see myself not liking the controls.
wrist ache and all that
Wow, cute and clever indeed. However, I would prefer to play it on my browser or DS.
@Maldron: .
is only 500 wii points.
Neeto!
No thank you. Not this time.

Oh wow, I remember playing this years ago...
The original was fun for a little while but quickly got old. I can see this going the same way. Plus, it's been sanitised which is a bit of a shame.
So we have a game like this on PC, a game like this on WiiWare, and game like this PSN. XBL Arcade is truly lacking in the fort-defending genre...
I'm starting to wonder if the Wii's poor online multi-player support are actually working to its advantage in the downloadable-games arena.
There seems to be a ton of support for WiiWare. Are developers more willing to bring this contnet forward when they don't feel like they have to have multi-player support and an online leaderboard to compete?
The trailer was pretty well done IMO. But some gripes I have with it (and I haven't played the original so if I say something dumb just ignore it):
From the trailer it seems like there's only 2 types of enemies. The little men with the tree trunks and the giant round-shaped guys. Also it looks like the only way they attack your castle is by running at it directly. I didn't see any long-distance attacks or aerials attacks or anything else.
The other problem I had with it is that apparently the only thing that happens when the difficulty is raised is that more enemies show up, as opposed to more difficult enemies. Although I can't really blame the maker of this game as that seems to be quite a common trend in many video games.
THe last problem I had is that there's really only 3 ways of fighting: You pick up and throw them, you erase them, or you toss them into your castle. From the looks of it, erasing them seems too time-consuming and should be used sparingly. So really you only have 2 ways of defending your castle.
Good concept, nice trailer, I just wouldn't buy the final product.
The idea seems great, the execution looks like a friggin mess!
@chacho: That's too much for my tastes, then.
'Helth'
His heart melted three times that day.
Though I did love playing it the first time, I couldn't see playing it more than once.
I was laughing at this game when I first saw the screenshots. Now I'm actually quite looking forward to it!
@NeoAkira: You should watch the trailer again. ;)
That looks like a pretty good deal for $5 or 500 Wii points. And the fact that you can have up to four-player co-op makes it even cooler.
It´s fun and all until you learn that with a few hundred mages, your magic power refills faster than you can use it converting enemies... Then it just gets boring (the original version, at least)
Coming soon: Penguin Toss!!
It does look cool. I worry that we've seen the only board however.
I wasn't that interested until they came to the multiplayer. I'm sold.
MEH!
I swear the Flash equivalent looks better than the WiiWare version. I also cringed when I saw in game UI (the customisation part looked good) who writes "helth"?
i dont get it when free flash games get ported to consoles for a price, and still look like free flash games.
dont want. but i do want this on wii ware:
+ Watch video
I was meh until they said the magic words.
Co-op multiplayer.
I'm down.
sick.
@Maldron:
are you serious thats just 5 dollars, you spend more than that at Mcdonalds
Cute, but I really don't want to play something that'll tire my wrist out before bedtime.
A nice and good flash game for my wii.
...
@TC:
I could say a lot about that quote involving tiring the wrist and bedtime but nevermind.
They NEEEEED to bring Motherload to the Wii if they are doing more games.
Does the flash version run full speed on a Wii through the Opera browser?
Yeah, it got really old quick, especially the way I played. When you have 1000 something archers you don't even have to look at the screen anymore, just click go and come back in half an hour.
Wii ware devs say Xbox Live Arcade is full of shit, and then charge $5 for an old flash game?
multiplayer looks fun, though would still rather play it free online, even though it got boring after a while.
Hopefully splattery still works.
4 player co-op sold it to me, I can't wait to defend my castle with 3 buddies.
Now I dont know. I'm torn. I do love this game...but I can play it on the Wii already...for free, completely (somehow I got my full version web browser for free on my Wii. Did anyone else??). But the controls are wonky because the tip of the hand is the only part you can grab with. And since its so fat...its hard to get a grip, so to say. And the people stick at times. But now...if this was a DS game...there would be no thought. Whenever they port a computer game to the DS...its just pure pleasure!!
@chacho: No, actually I spend less than that at McDonalds, perhaps you shouldn't be eating as much as you do.
another flash game for the wii? pass.
looking just at that trailer only, I'm not sold yet. Like others have briefly mentioned already, I'd buy it if they add more enemies, more ways to dispose of enemies, and especially more stages/scenarios
$5 ... I'm in.
I like the "trash" design, but other than using a Wiimote instead of a mouse, it's no different than a PC game.
I thought the Wiimote did things beyond pointing. Use them...please!
Not bad, but I don't like the style too much.
I'd rather have something like Tower Defense...
I don't think I'll be buying this one as I see it getting boring after a short while. I do dig the style though, kind of reminds me of Little Big Planet
I loved the flash version of the game, I am probably going to get this.
No blood, no buy. Plus, it got boring after about half an hour or so.
I'd play this for $5
I'd rather have Stick Arena, minus the hackers and lag.
A flash game turned Wiiware... I sure hope that's not a sign of things to come. Nothing against (good) flash games, but I can play those for free on my PC.
Wow, the Co-op looks amazing at the end.
Meh. The game never really caught on with me. I blame my hate for defend missions in games, since this is basically just another defend mission.
Sounds like a lot of yanking around on the wiimote, I'll pass.
The free PC version is more fun than this appears. I love my Wii games but I'd never try to play Defend Your Castle without a mouse.
I just like the SURPRISE ZERG RUSH in the multiplayer bit.
Wait, so this is a port of a PC game?
I'd rather be SAILING.
When I saw the text saying cooperative multiplayer I though it will be easy then I was what the hell?!
It seems fun and simple, pretty good.
OOOK!!!!!
