I don't like the Ps3 color, but that controller is really, really nice. Hopefully they'll sell it standalone for people who already own a Ps3.

This is only cool if it's actually made of steel. Otherwise it's just another color of a gimped model.

this isn't the way to do a game specific console. i'm sorry to say that the halo3 360 was the correct way to do it. it was very special and unique...this..this is just a different color with some tiny text on it.

it'd better come with some really neat extras loaded on the harddrive or...uh..i'll be sad?

that is a nice color though, i kind of like it more on the ps3 than on the controller though for some reason.

That's like releasing a limited edtion magnolia Xbox. It's not significantly different to be worthwhile.

@p3hrmne: Oh yeah. That Halo 3 360 was how to make a Game-Specific console. Make it such a god-awful, baby-shit color that nobody would ever manufacture it under any other circumstances.
And then throw in some JPGs, and charge an extra $100.

Looks very cool. If I didn't have a PS3, this would be the one I'd get, without a doubt.

Hopefully they sell the controller as a standalone product, too. I'd like to pick up one of those if possible.

@Polywhirl: i just think a special edition console for a game should be immediately recognizable to the game it's specific for. a 'steel' color isn't specific to metal gear...it's specific to anything with steel in it. like say any game with a gun in it.

@Polywhirl: I work at a Best Buy, and the ONLY, ONLY, only (with effects more intense than bold and caps) time that any of them sold over the holiday season was when we ran out of the other SKUs as Christmas grew nearer.

I like it. It's simple, and not too over extravagant and flashy. It's essentially a Metal Gear PS3. Instead of launching nukes though, it shoots out blue rays.

God I would love this. And if it wasn't for the fact that I want an ENGLISH copy of MGS4 I would go the play-asia way.

Very impressive. This is something that's always piqued my interest, because it's not something I shop for when I look for a (insert electronics device here). I've seen this sort of thing when it comes to, say, laptops...I've had some of my customers actually decide on one notebook over another strictly on color, regardless of speed, reliability, usability, or price. Interesting to see what the mind picks up as the "best feature" of an item. Me, I see cell processors...though I do have to admit they look tight in that case. It needs a couple of those bullet-hole stickers they put on cars though.

nah.. I would rather the regular ps3.. would go better with the rest of the stereo unit.. nevermind the MGS limited edition writing crap on it...

as a 360 owner.. I will eventually get a ps3 for the non demo GT5... apparently not the MGS bundle though.

@deathtastic: From what I remember, it's basically the same cost as a normal 80GB with Metal Gear Solid 4 thrown in the box as well.

I think consoles are like Tattoos. Just like you might regret getting that "at the time" sweet Crash Bandicoot tat on your ass, you probably wouldn't want an MGS4 decor console by the time MGS6 (bear with me) rolls out of the gates.

I've been wanting to get a PS3 for some time now, but it just wasn't grey enough. My prayers have been answered.

@deathtastic: A buddy of mine has his ps3 on a metal strip that heads toward the floor. This discharges static electricity and helps keep it from attracting dust. It still gets some, but only what settles on it. Try it, it might help. Just remember that static electricity is only on the outside of objects, so if the metal is covered with something (plastic or some such) it won't work as well.

I've been waiting to buy a PS3, and this'll prolly be my excuse, even thought I was waiting for FFXIII, to keep with tradition

PS3 for FFXIII? guess not haha

I just bought the MGS Essential Collection and my PS2 died on me, anyone know if the Metal Gear bundle PS3 will be backwards compat?
