GAAH! Just release the freaking FF7 remake already, Square Enix!
This game makes the PSP that much more of an enticing purchase. Coupled with today's PS3 patch.
I think they'll stop releasing FF7 material when the ragged teat of that franchise has not a drop left.
This will happen around the time Square fans die out entirely, which incidentally is the same time that that big 'ol rock smacks into the earth.
...I wish they'd do something new already. FF7 did nothing for me :(
:( I want the Shinra ID card! I'm a whore for stuff like that.
I live in the Bay Area too man I going to attend this.
Woah! Shinra cards & t-shirts. I wish I could attend.
The game is not nearly as good as Final Fantasy VII, but it's still nice.
I was never really keen on an FF7 remake until I went to replay it a few years back. That game would be pretty sweet with a current-gen face-lift (and some extra bonuses)!
Also, the nerd in me cries that I won't be getting a Shinra ID card... :(
"Launch Event party of my newest milked stuff"
Is it me, or do these FFVII swords keep getting bigger?
@mechanabeshin: It's just you. That's the same, literally the exact same, sword Cloud used in VII.
When did Aeris get hot?
oh god!..i need a towel. But why only San Francisco?? Why can't Orlando get some luvin too? meh.
@njhardcoreguy: Which one is that? 2.20? I thought that one wasn't out yet.
@onidavin: I preferred FF6 but 7 is the one many played first.
Why is all this crap in California? Texas needs loving too! And it's bigger! AND it has two+ major developers housed in it!
@Wyld: Pretty much. But what did you expect at this point?
I'm not even that into FF7, yet that tank-top Aeris in the picture somehow inspires lust in me. I want to journey into her uncanny valley!
They just need to remake VII already. They will have unbelievable sales, people will finally shut up about it, and they can start with new IPs rather than putting out 20+ FFVII games
Milked beyond death :P
and ff6 > 7
"The first 100 people in line will get a commemorative T-shirt as well as be eligible for some raffle prizes. Only 200 people will be allowed to attend so be sure to get there early!"
Why not give the other hundred people this as well?
Lookin pimpy! Wish they were comin up here to Portland. Can we get a pic of a Shinra ID card when one of us gets one? I want one! :D
@BtownDesignGuy:
When was she ever NOT hot?
Milked beyond death? Look no further than any of the Nintendo Franchise.
FF7 just scream remake, the first game that got me into RPG games. I could only imagine what it would look like on a PS3. Man can only dream...
I'll be there! That tshirt is mine!
I have to agree with the btown and Jamzy here. I ranked her below Tifa and Yuffie, but here....damn! They probably figured the guys were more feminine looking than she normally is so they had to make her hot.
Here's to hoping my reserve somehow gets shipped to me early.
I'm a stone's throw from SF. Question @ all y'all: how early would I have to show up to get in, given the potentially high level of fanboy penetration?
How early would someone have to show up to get in, given the high level of fanboy penetration? I'm a couple hours from SF and a Shinra ID sounds sweet . ..
Hmm, I need this game. Too bad I'm nowhere in the area for one of those sweet ID cards.
i'm looking more forward to this game than dirge of cerberus at least...
honestly... we needs us a mole in their finance/marketing department to deceive them making them think that not waiting until they milk out the ff7 franchise and releasing a ff7 remake on xbox 360 and/or ps3 now is the best move
if anything, it'd probably push more sales of crisis core because people who are completely new to the ff franchise won't be able to connect crisis core to ff7 until they play ff7 themselves. and those who are completely new to the ff franchise would probably find it hard pressed to find a copy of ff7 out in stores much less find it even more hard pressed to sit through the game's rather outdated graphics (if they're of the ps2 and later gamer generation most likely).
Who's that between cloud and aeries?
I gave up on waiting for an FFVII remake after 11 years, now I have it running on my PSP...
If FFVII:AC comes out on Blu-ray I'll get it, otherwise I'll wait.
But I'll definitely pick this up. Playing it will just have to wait until I go through the game I bought in the 90s for several months.
The game is out now on the Interwebs!
but no more milking. Square-enix = EA of rpg fans
@onidavin: I really believe that there are almost as many pure FFVI fans as FFVII fans (and of course alot of cross-over), but we just don't make the same noise on the Internet, begging for a remake.
Perhaps its because fans of 2D FF games were fully satisfied and don't need a remake to justify replaying a decades-old game, but for some reason many of the newer FFVII and beyond players do feel the need for such a remake...
The fanatical hordes of FFVII-heads used to kind of piss me off, honestly, and I still find some of the more ridiculous FFVII fan-service merch a bit disgusting, but as I've aged I've realized that their slavering devotion to the sequel I all but abhor should have no effect on my enjoyment of the earlier games.
That said, I think I'll go play some more FFVI on my DS when I get home ;)
Eh I don't think I'd be interested since the event last time sucked ass compared to Japan.
@DaiMacculate:
aww come on.. you've got to admit that Terra, Locke and the rest of the gang would look pretty sweet in HD.
*drooooooooooooooooooll"
Square-Enix could make a special edition with all FFs (except that atrocious MMORPG) ever made in one or two Blurays (and if it's possible in HD). That would be awesome.
Not worth it to risk my life going to the Metreon. That place has become a war zone as of late.
Darn it, it's so tempting, but only 200??
I went to the Advent Children movie premiere in LA a couple years back. I showed up at 4am and was like 10th in line. Keep in mind the movie wasn't to show until 7pm that night. This event isn't gonna be as big but I'd say show up almost as early. I'd go but I don't wanna drive/fly to SF. I live in SoCal.
@The Great Aussie Evil: Commend of the decade!
id be there dumb early if i lived in sf. nyc needs more square events
I went to the Advent Children movie premiere in LA 2 years ago and it was crowded. I showed up at 4am and was like 10th in line. The CC event won't be as big (I think) but I'd say if you wanna make sure you get in, I'd show up sometime in the morning.
@Fantus: In the original game, Aeris (or Aerith, I guess?) was really only kind of cute -- in an innocent, reserved sort of way. Like a high school sophomore walking the straight and narrow, working to get nothing but straight A's.
This new picture looks more like her hot older sister you just met at college, and you just can't resist the urge to ask if she wants to meet up for coffee some time.
@Jaziek: The characters done in 3D, or just redrawn 2D HD graphics ala SSF2T HD remix? Because while I have no interest in the former, I could be persuaded to get excited about the latter...if I thought there was a fraction of a chance in Hell of it happening.
Anyword on Advent Children Blu-ray release date?
I'll be there...
Someone needs to feed Aeris a sandwich or two, my goodness :\
It's kind of crappy they're giving 100 people a free t-shirt at a 200 person event... just cough up 100 more t-shirts for goodness sake.
I don't know why so many people are clamoring for an FFVII remake.. if anything it's the one game that DOESN'T need a remake due to the complete oversaturation of FFVII related games/media in the last few years anyway.. geez, it was a perfectly fine game as it was.
Hey - I live here, for a change. I could so totally go to that... if I wasn't out of town... and the line will no doubt be maxed out before I'd even think of getting there... and... well... I don't know.
Unless they announce FFVII remade, finally, it probably won't be *that* cool.
But they won't.
Cheers to anyone who goes though!
@FancifulUnicorn: The attraction of the remake, at least on my part, is much due to the thought of playing through that game again with next-gen graphics. Kind of drool worthy.
There really hasn't been a knock-out next gen JRPG released yet - so any entries into those waters are welcome.
Besides, I'd really like to replay the game, seeing as how it's been since the PC release that I did, but there's no easy way to get at a copy - lost the PC version and I doubt it works anymore, don't have a Playstation and my PS2 is broken. Buying a PS3 to play the original discs on it (if that even works) or play a remake, well... there's a lot more incentive to buy it for a remake.
This is one dead horse that's done been beat over and over, a cash cow that's all but dried up.
...The sad thing is they plan to keep on rehashing FFVII stuff till TWENTY-SEVENTEEN. Dammit, it needs to stop already! Give us something NEW!
I wish FF7 would just go away already... seriously
I went to the last event there (FF Anniversary party for FFI on PSP), and while I had a good time and won one of the raffle prizes... Yeah, I don't think they really do enough to justify coming out again.
@Darth_Mall: I don't understand. Give us something new? You act like they're only working on FFVII spinoffs. And why the hell would they stop make something that is popular and generating mass income?
