Back in February, we brought word of the Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li movie cast. It went something like this: Michael Clarke Duncan ("Balrog"), Chris Klein ("Charlie Nash"), Rick Yune (Chun-Li's trainer) and Kristin Kreuk ("Chun Li"). While we also knew that the Black Eyed Peas' Taboo would be joining the cast, we didn't know which role he'd be taking. Today, Capcom announced that Taboo will be "Vega," and Neal McDonough (pictured) will play "M. Bison." The movie will be out in 2009.

Let the vomiting commence.
It'll all end in tears.
In some ways it's sad that we'll never have the right names for the SF characters in the US.
That's not a bad casting. Just put some contacts on him and he can rock some evil pretty well.
Just....don't do it.
Why is there a SF movie in the first place? Isn't it all agreed that it'll suck
the subtitle reminds me of fanfiction
and Edmund Chen will be playing Chun Li's father
[www.edmundchen.com]
I've seen him acting a couple of times, and I must say they could have done a lot worse...
Does anyone else think this guy should have been Agent 47 in the Hitman flick? You cannot see it on this pic, but his face and that of 47 look quite the same.
They should just combine this movie with the dragonball movie and get the suckiest shit ever award now.
Bring back Raul Julia....somehow.Sure itd be hard work bringing him back from the dead...but he was the best damn thing in the first one,
@sgboy: Ah I forgot to mention that I read about his role in a local newspaper. Can't find any links on the internet to back up my claim :(
I seriously can NOT wait for this move. This and the DBZ movie.
I wonder how many memes will be spun out of those two movies?
No, that was not an open invitation for "over 9000".
@Samuraidino: Actually, Raul Julia was horrible, in fact the whole movie was horrible, what a way to end the legacy of Raul Julia. Guile being the star of the movie *shakes head*.
It might not be the worst thing ever if they don't go way over the top with it. Like not dressing M. Bison in that ridiculous outfit. Even after they do things like that it will probably raise the bar to just being bad.
@axiom: Oh, it's agreed it will suck. It's also agreed that it generate hundreds of millions of dollars. Rock beats scissors, paper beats rock, revenue beats integrity.
'The Legend of Chun-Li'... great. Yeah, let's go with that. Perfect.
I'm sure it was a toss up between that and 'The Chun-Li Chronicles'.
To quote the other Street Fighter Movie, "Quick! Change the Channel!"
It bombed before it even dropped (sigh)
@NexusSIX: Guile being star was a total "AMERICA.....FARK YEAAAHH!!!!!!" moment
This movie makes me lose faith that their will ever be a decent video game to movie adaption.
Epic fail? I think so.
@Channing: I wonder how many memes will be spun out of those two movies?
OVER 9-
No, that was not an open invitation for "over 9000".
Aw, shit.
I'm honestly surprised that Uwe Boll's fingers are nowhere in this pie.
@evslin:
You earn my respect.
here we go again.
I'm so waiting for this epic movie...
movie will be terrible. This actor looks the part though.
Kristin Kreuk as Chung Li, that in itself is an epic failure.
She is hot but her small body just doesnt have what it takes to pull of a chung li.
Why do they not even bother to try in these movies?
Could they seriously not get Lucy Liu to play Chun Li? I mean, they are both, you know, CHINESE!
I would pay the 40 dollars or whatever it costs for a theatre showing these days if I got to see my Chun-li Lucy Liu.
Oh boy, what have we done to be punished this way?
she'll need to hit the thighmaster hard. The only good Street fighter movie has been the anime. And not the rap rock soundtrack english dubbed crapfest, the hot chun li shower scene original language version. That was a good movie. Thank you for a beautiful time.
I, for one, welcome our new M. Bison
@Nex Antonius:
I was really expecing that to end in "overlords."
Here's my cast for this movie to be any good.
Director, Yuen Woo Ping
Ryu, Donnie Yen
Ken, Chuck Norris, lol
Guile, Keanu Reeves?
Chun Li, Zhang Ziyi
Balrog (M. Bison), I think Michael Clarke Duncan will do good.
Vega (Balrog), Taboo looks to fill that look.
M. Bison (Vega), Andy Lau
Zangief, Arnold would be great if you could get him, lol.
Chun Li's Trainer(Jen), Jackie Chan
E. Honda, ?
Blanka, ?
and
Akuma (Gouki), Jet Li.
Fell free to input your ideas cause I am missing a few here. This cast would make for a good movie. You have a mix of American and Asian actors so it can reach both Cultures.
Raul Julia would not be amused... Neal McDonough will surely have a huge work filling in his footsteps. Tabooo is right at home with is part, tough.
@NexusSIX:
Wasn't Guile the main character in the SFII story? He or Chun Li.
It wasn't about Ryu for sure.
Nooooooooooooooo! Do Not Want!
No! The main story is about Ryu trying to find the ultimate fight. The American abolishment that was Street Fighter the movie made it all about Guile so Van Dam could get Paid along with the Producers, Sell outs!
Raul Julia, was a good Bison but he's not around anymore :(
I still find it hard to accept that his movie is being made but not much more than the Dragon Ball movie.
@Tactiks:
Exactly that's the main story for the Street Fighter series, however he isn't the "Hero" of SFII. It was always unclear who was, for certain Ryu never made it into the finals thanks to Ken.
Guile is a very good conteder for the "Hero" after all he wants revenge for Nash's death. Though we all know how Bison ended at the hands of Gouki.
I know! Why are the Japanese or Chinese not doing these movies. If the American movie studios were smart they would hire a good Chinese director to make the movie and let them do all the casting and directing and sit back and cash in on the world wide release of a hit movie.
The anime had a strong Guile/Chun Li story but it also had Ryu as a strong story as well. Really, Ryu as a central story isn't all that exciting unless you concentrate on the Ryu/Ken aspect. Other than that he is just walking the earth which isn't the best story. I think the mix of the two worked well in the anime.
From the thumbnail at first I thought it was Matt Damon with blonde hair. I don't know much about his movie career though, but from the Wiki it seems like he's already been in a few movies that I seen. I don't remember him so for me it doesn't say much for him or his acting.
That's what is so good about the series is that it appealed to everyone, everyone is a hero and has some sort of revenge or reason for being there. You could make a dozen or so movies on every character if you wanted to. I am soooooo sad they are making this the wrong way. They needed to get fan input and creator input before throwing something this epic out. They are screwing with something they don't know about and the sad part is they will make a lot of money because everyone will either see it in the theater of buy the DVD. So sad :(
He is a good actor. Got first noticed in Band of Brothers which was fantastic on all fronts. I have liked his performances in pretty much everything I have seen him in.
@Channing: Ah, Kreuk is of Chinese decent.
Isn't she like half hawaiian and half alaskan, some crazy mix.
Wah wah wah, why are they ruining my childhood?? My memories are so fragile that anything new will simply kill me! Wah! As a fan, I feel I am entitled to better! How could they cast that guy -- he does not look like M. Bison, wahh!!!
Nothing like a skinny, blond haired, blue eyed guy to play a muscle bound Thai (or whatever not arayanish decent M. Bison is).
Still, he looks better than emo Goku. But that's saying almost nothing...
@Tactiks: Andy Lau was great in Infernal Affairs. Loved that movie.
actors.@evslin:
Hells yeah, great movie. He's one of my favorite actors ;)
