So wait, she swallows cat heads, and people want to spend time with her? Japan's weird man, very weird.
I lurv shoko-tan! Unfortunately, all the vids I had of her going crazy on her cats are taken away from youtube.
I think I just made a horrible sentence but I'm not going to go back to look at it, I have to press on!
She gets kinda crazy around cute things. I know it might sound kinda weird but I totally understand. It's not like "Oh, this is cute." It's like "THIS IS SO CUTE I WANT TO KILL IT!" It's a weird feeling.
Sorry for being so out of touch with the japanese idolism, but what is this "cat-head swallowing" thing?
Why is the picture a girl dressed as the Valsone? I Don't see how Super robot taisen relates to celebrities..
@Channing: That sounds like my wife. To quote her (to her hamster): "You're so CUTE! I just want to throw you against a wall! You look like you should just bounce off and squeak! If it didn't hurt you, I would!"
Scary.
@AstrayPenguin: Shoko-tan ALWAYS relates to Super Robot Taisen. You just don't know Shoko-tan.
@Logician:
She gets excited around her cat and proceeds to put the cats head in her mouth. It's a sign of affection.
@AstrayPenguin:
Shoko-tan IS Valsone. Seriously. No, I'm being really serious.
@Captain Impulse:
Yeah, it's really weird. It's like really cute things shouldn't exist to people like us. It's kind of disturbing. Like really fluffy small dogs. I want to squeeze them, HARD! But not in a bad way, just in a OMG SO CUTE kinda way.
Bah, crazies, everyone knows the best person to go on an adventure with would be Utada Hikaru, hell she's a fairly active gamer and a great singer, plus she's single. It's a win win for everyone.
@AstrayPenguin: Obviously you are unaware of who Shoko-tan is. Wikipedia is your friend.
The short of it is, she's quite a huge otaku with a real love of mecha-anime and games. As well as regular anime and games.
Really?
Were the choices from a limited list or could it be just anyone?
I've got an allergy to cat hair and think I would start sneezing if I got anywhere near her
That picture is just scary. And Valsione is already scary enough with a robot that looks like a girl.
If you don't understand the awesome of Shokotan please watch this video. If you DO understand the awesome of Shokotan, then you will probably watch this video.
+ Watch video
Sorry, I tried looking for her cat vids but I can't find any.
If you don't know Shoko then you must be new to the site and Japanese gaming/otaku culture in general...
She's just an adorable geek. Call her the official/unofficial spokesperson for gaming/otaku culture in Japan (and perhaps the rest of the world).
@boxofthegods:
Isn't Utada married?
@Channing: Epic win.
@SolInvictus: Not anymore. Her dumbass husband divorced her.
@Channing: I'm gonna need some paper to write down all the things wrong (and therefore AWESOME) with that video.
@Channing:
All I can say is WTF
I don't know but riding cats that shoots a laser beam out of its mouth is disturbing, in fact cats in general are disturbing.
@Channing:
Holy smoke, that's great!
@Channing: That was brilliant!
Aki Hoshino FTW!! Though I guess it would be fun to hang out with Shoko-tan. Ai Otsuka would be fun too, but she seems like she's kind of a b*tch. Overall Aki Hoshino would be the best one.
Oh youtube, you bring enjoyment to so many people around the globe!
Also, after watching that - yes, her favorite cat is Mami-chan. Mami-chan bares the brunt of the head in mouth-ings.
Becky kinda creeps me out with those big eyes, and she strikes me as the really high maintenance type.
If you respect the western order for names (firstname and lastname), number 4 should be Kumki Koda. Oh and there is a unnecessary "k" since it's Kumi Koda.
@Channing: That's one I hadn't seen before. I thank you heartily from the very depths of my blackened heart.
Becky?!?! Ostuka Ai?
Yeah, Japanese guys still like the ditzy ones. Becky's permanent grin freaks me out.
Shoko fun fact:
She's responsible for two of 2007's Japanese New Buzzwords. (Kawayusu/Giza-kawayusu) link
ZETSUBOU SHITAAA
YouTube anti-piracy system has put me in despair!!
SHIINA RINGO!!!! She's about the only "celebrity" (Japanese or otherwise) that I'd actually care to meet in person.
I have to admit I never understood the whole "star power" thing... Most of those idols are busy being idols and not much else. I'm sure it's a lot of work, but not the kind of work likely to get me all excited.
I briefly saw Olivia when she came to Paris for the Japan Expo, but I only found out about her concert when it was too late.
There are a few writers that I would love to meet (which would involve travelling back in time for some of them), but I doubt any of them - whether famous or not - would be considered celebrities.
I have to go oldschool and say Puffy, that would be fun.
I'd say Haruko Momoi, but she might even be TOO hardcore geeky for me... eh, probably not though. Can't picture Ai Otsuka as an adventurer, but I don't see how that would be bad either.
I never got Shoko... I dunno. Toxoplasmosis isn't my thing.
I can understand this. She seems as if she'd be a fun person to be around. The type of person who would come up with some fun, if slightly inappropriate, idea in the middle of calculus class.
I get a little crazy over cats, too. I have a cat with a ton of weird habits who follows me around everywhere, and when he's acting all cute I get the urge to poke him repeatedly from both sides and bite my gums.
Luckily he doesn't mind it, despite being angry enough to move his face to bite me whenever I pet him. He's usually too slow, though. ^_^
@Channing: That was so awesome. How can one video be so... odd? This beats cat head swallowing by a mile, and it's far less disturbing.
That ad was run of the mill... until the giant cat laser appeared.
I love Chinatsu Wakatsuki ever since 2005 >_<
If you add up the results, you will likely come to the conclusion that there were either far more female voters in the group, or 95% of men voted for Shoko.
hahaha I KNEW Aki Hoshino would be on that list. She'd totally be on mine.
