Hinge cracks aside, things the DS Lite can survive: Being put in a bag with keys and shaken, being dropped on the floor, being tossed from a motorbike, being thrown down the stairs, getting hot tea poured on it, falling two floors. Things the DS Lite cannot survive: Falling three stories, being thrown against the wall and being ripped to pieces. Website Broken Reivew put the DS Lite through a battery of tests, coming to this conclusion: TK. So, remember, it's okay to chuck your DS Lite from a moving vehicle, but don't try ripping it apart. That fucks 'em up.
DS Lite Test [Broken Review via DS Fanboy]

Comments
Thats just good design.
oh yeah thats what i'm talkin about!
This hurts. :(
That is... so stupid.
That's almost as hard to watch as 2 girls and a cup
Stop fucking double posting Videos!! Wasting Bandwith!
now do that with a PSP.. I think it'll breaky!
@dannybuoy: Looking at your post history, how is it you haven't been Hammered yet?
@Captain Impulse: Whoops...sorry dannybuoy...that was meant to be @Wellhereweare.
@Wellhereweare:
Stop fucking making bad comments!! Wasting comment space!
This is completely pointless... It appears to be a single DS, so it obviously endured all these tests until finally breaking. To be accurate I would at least expect every test to be conducted on a fresh system. Why do they bother to rip it to pieces when it is broken? Obviously this website has nothing to do with stress tests and a lot to do with being morons.
@Captain Impulse:
I bet an edit button sounds good right about now, huh?
I also agree, though.
@Brian Ashcraft:
Yay! Bash'd his face in!
I don't know. I haven't done any of these things to my DS and the buttons don't work. And of course, it'd be easy to just crack the thing open and take a look, but noooooooooooo, Nintendo had to use security bits. grr
Fucking. Lol. Good post Brian.
@dunetiger : apples are red: Heh, Nintendo always uses Security Bits, its their thing ;)
Also, these pictures make me a sad panda. Many DS Lites perished to bring us this information.
"Security Bits"?
Ah.. Natural selection in action.(the jackass with the rude comments, not the DS)
@DaiMacculate: No, actually it was just one DS Lite.
Now do this with an iPhone... the tears, oh the tears.
Wow, that's really neat. I never knew the ds lite could take such a beating, seeing as I take pretty good care of my ds lite.
Ninendo hardware is always tough as fucking nails.
What does TK stand for, Technical knockout? If so, we've all played Punch-out, TKO is technical knockout.
What is the fucking point to these tests...I should know it already without having to bust a ds.
The girl was cute, nice body!
And the DS tests they were interesting too I guess, the little machine can take ALOT of abuse.
@littletad: Agreed.
all of a sudden, I feel sad inside.
Do they have 150$ to spend to throw around a DS or something?
But, that thing can take a beating.
Finally, a proper destroy-my-DS-Lite video.
*seen all the other systems get properly shafted on YouTube...*
Crap! And the hinge part near the lights is still intact!
@Brian Ashcraft:
Yeah! You tell 'em Carl!
Seriously though, I had a hard time watching those videos. Something about my own mortality when I watch these things...
go nintendo. this is why nintendo is great their products do not break. my lil cousin triped over my wii wires and thank g-d no problems. the nes controller was unbreakable lol. drop the precious psp and well you know it goes to video game heaven or maybe hell who can tell.
@Rieth: um. I didn't watch the video, but since when do we expect internet videos of people breaking shit to be conducted under rigorous scientific conditions?
wow..the NDS really is durable...next stop..PSP!!
This is all well and good, but I would like to know will it blend?
These tests broke my heart around midway video 1. Obviously not as durable as the ds lite.
The scary thing to me is that it was just one DS, and it kept working after so many ridiculous things.
That said, I'm not entirely surprised... that thing is a tank. I'm not afraid to do just about anything with it - whereas I'm paranoid as hell about my PSP. >_<
My wife's did not survive 2 Tbsp worth of flavored water. :(
Did she get the woosiest DS out there?
@animerion: I'm not sure, but apparently Guitar Hero III does.
+ Watch video
@Kilnado: damn that is one strong blender, where can i get one like that?
PSP OWNS!!
Runs...
lol that was.. awkward to watch.
It was so quiet and odd... though good to see that after all these years Nintendo stuff is built to last!
My friends dad once chucked their SNES out the window (many many years ago) because they played it too much. It fell two stories and smashed onto the concrete below. They cried. They took it back upstairs plugged it in expecting the worst - and it WORKED! Still does to this day. In fact I have never had any problems with a Nintendo console that I recall?
Now that's a conclusion!
do that with a psp!
oh wait, its optical drive will cry like a baby.
The old DSes are a lot tougher than the lights. My white one used to take so much abuse and not a scratch, save for maybe one blue stuck pixel. Drops, stabbings, being tossed around in a bookbag with lots of sharp objects. Meanwhile I've been through 2 DS Lites in a year because one couldn't take a little oil (don't ask), and the second has a big circle (it's a perfect circle too, I don't know how my brother did it cause he won't tell me) of dead pixels right in the middle of the top screen.
@maiky-nisute:
*drops maiky-nisute PSP on the street*
muwahahaha...
SUFFER!
:)
I love the DS. I own two myself, but that..... that was like watching groin shots over and over again. Any guy can agree. It doesn't matter if it happens to you, as long as you see it happen it's just a world of pain.
::grabs ds and winches in pain::
Clearly fake... Nintendium is indestructible!!!
The PSP cant hadle that much torture for sure since its screen is prety much unprotected...I have to make doubly sure that the scratches doesnt interfere with the gameplay...That's the thing I liked about the SP and DS it closes up without worrying too much about the darn screen...
Nice that people have money enough to do this.
Good for them. I still think this is beyond stupid...
Oh PSP!! Its your turn >:)
...I think I just died a bit inside after watching that...
You know, there are those of us who would REALLY like a DS, but can't afford it. :(:(
... and yet knowing me if I drop mine 10 inches it will crack open. This is called Sod's Law. But Nintendo have always been known for making fairly sturdy consoles. Which is more than I can say for my phat PS2, which cracked open when it fell off my (fairly short) chest of drawers
