It may have had some of the surprise spoiled by OXM a few months ago, but this week's Rock Band downloadable tracks have been revealed. The Earache Thrash Pack as the kids from Harmonix are calling it, features a trio of thrashers that, I assume, are known for their tinnitus inflicting abilities.
The pack, which hits Xbox Live Tuesday for 440 Microsoft Points and PlayStation Network Thursday for $5.49, features "Blinded By Fear" by At the Gates, "Thrasher" by Evile, and "D.O.A." by The Haunted. They're all master tracks and can be had for $1.99 each. Thrash on!

Still waiting for Who's Next...ugh
@nikolajz1: You and me both. :(
haha. Seems slightly out of character for rock band. Surely not something anyone I know would pick up.
still waiting for thursday/taking back sunday/brand new but i think it's safe to guess that will never happen
I've essentially given up on Who's Next. It's become some sort of mythical piece of DLC, survived through folk tales of numerous generations dating back to the Civil War.
Still Alive better come out soon though. These last few packs have been rather terrible (for my tastes at least.)
WHY
hahahahaha, METAL. awesome :D
YES!! I have been waiting for At the Gates :D
@Michael:
Sorry Michael, slightly of topic (as I don't own rock band... I know, I suck) but I'm really sleepy since I just got home from work. Can you guys do me a favor and not post anymore new stories until tomorrow at 11 am when I get back into the office... for me? <3
At least thrash is different.
Much of the Rock has fallen into the same genre, mainstream.
I want some real punk soon, though. The Clash is nice, but they're not exactly the "new" punk (And by new, I mean the 80's, of course).
not to sound ungrateful, but i would've rather have gotten "slaughter of the soul" by at the gates instead of "blinded by fear"
oh well, either way this is definately one song pack i'm getting!
Oh man I hope my friend downloads this, this would rule at a party :D
Hey Harmonix, Whenever you want to release Still Alive, that's fine...It's not like I'm getting impatient or anything. Take your time.
Do want! Along with Rock Band, which up til now I haven't given a shit about.
My Microsoft space bucks will sleep soundly knowing they wont be used this week.
Heavy Metal or no metal at all, imo.
At the Gates = good
Evile = who the hell is evile?
The Haunted = good first album, haven't heard any of their stuff since, it's possible I'd enjoy this track.
I haven't bought Rock Band DLC since December. I think I'll pick up this pack, though.
I likes all kinds o' music and noise.
@josh51: hahaha thats the same thing i was thinking about
Hell yea, I love me some Metal! \m/
@baked ham: Evile is a pretty new band from the UK. Their first album came out recently, and they've been touring with Megadeth on Gigantour the passed few months.
After listening to their album and watching some of their live videos, they are probably one of the best new thrash bands in the last few years. Thrasher is the best song in the pack imo.
Nothing I really care about here but it is nice to see some nice variety in the DLC packs for people who do dig this kind of music.
awful.
absolutely not getting this garbage.
I've never even played the game but eh, they call that thrash? I know they would never put obscure old bands I like but I still feel like complaining... even though I don't own or intend to play the game. I think for my first comment though, I'll refrain from listing bands I like so I don't like an elitist ass.
Ya its a rough one... some kids are pretty excited, so good for them, but personaly, I dont think this stuff plays well in rockband, they are much more the type of stuff I want to play in GH.
Not digging "Blinded by Fear," at all, but the others actually have some promise! Damn you Harmonix getting my money every other week! (yes, that was intentional)
im still waiting for "hysteria" now that i know its muse not def leopard, oh and on a side note i was really hoping when i saw D.O.A it would be the foo fighters song.
At the Gates? WOOOHOOO!
(Harmonix, can we get some Hot Water Music soon, please?)
I've listened to the tracks and I don't think they fit RB very well. I mean, I like thrash, but for some reason not in my RB.
Hells yes! I've been waiting patiently for this to be released! I cannot wait to get home to play these!
D.O.A. is one of my favorite The Haunted songs. Great download. Not enough metal on rock band - bring more recent bands! Classic trash is cool, but we need more heavy recent stuff like The Haunted.
I would be pumped to play some At The Gates if I had another guitar to use other than the official Rock Band Guitar. I love my PS3 but I want to use my Guitar Hero Guitar with Rock Band damnit! =(
Is there anywhere to preview these tracks? Or some of the other DLC? They should allow a streamed preview via XBL like they do for some of the movies. It'd make my purchasing decisions a helluva lot easier.
Pass. Haven't bought any tracks since Sex Type Thing. Good thing too, seeing how I live in a cardboard box at the moment...
Image sporked from alexiuss on deviant-art btw
Everybody better be getting this pack. Absolutely, without a doubt, the best Rock Band DLC yet. At the Gates? Better than anything else on Rock Band. How can anyone not like At the Gates?
Where are the following bands?
The Cure
The Smiths
Jane's Addiction
New Order
Joy Division
Alice in Chains
Depeche Mode
Pearl Jam
Led Zeppelin
Duran Duran
I mean, there's like a WHOLE genre of 80's/90's alternative that they haven't really touched at all..
of course Zeppelin doesn't fit in that genre but they had to be mentioned!
I wonder if there's some behind the scenes war between Rock Band and GH to sign exclusive bands or tracks?
Boring.
I think Thursday would be a good, challenging fit for Rock Band. All of the musicians in that band excel at what they do. That would be cool. Maybe something like At The Drive-In, too. Maybe? Please?
needs moar ac/dc
best week yet
Already bought. As soon as it shows up, that is. My friends are gonna hate to play these, as they hate challenging songs.
uhh, McWhert? I think earache is the record label. I know it is for At The Gates, at least.
I haven't heard these bands, but I used to love everything I heard on Earache back in the 90's. Speaking of which, how about some of that stuff? Especially Godflesh.
If they're gonna release specialized music like this why can't they release a poppy pack the same week? There would be like zero cross over if they released more Sounds or B-52's (or something MY WIFE could sing to so I won't get in as much trouble for buying this game!) I would really like Message in the Bottle, Police and more Foo Fighters, Nirvana and Hole. As well, Jungle Love by Steve Miller and Even Flow by Pearl Jam (yes I played it in Guitar Hero, but since my Rock Band controller won't work with that, I'm not buying it).
finally, FINALLY!!! I can't wait to play the vocals on Blinded by fear. Now if we could only get some Carcass or Dimmu Borgir on either RB or GH.
I was really hoping that D.O.A. was going to be Bloodrock rather than The Haunted.
I also acknowledge how absolutely ridiculously unlikely that would be for a Bloodrock song to make it into Rock Band.
This could do with less Evile, seriously if you want a horrible rehash of Slayer tunes be my guest but god they are awful.
Also note two fifths of At The Gates are in The Haunted a coincidence?
As I say again, Evile sooooo got that album art inspired by Iced Earth's album.
I hate it when people blindly trash music that they personally don't like. This isn't my style of music and I won't be buying it, but hopefully it pleases some of you guys.
more metallica or its nothing!!!!
Great, the makings of another music snob war - "this is terrible" vs. "best DLC yet!"
For Christ sake, just be glad there's some variety. Maybe you don't like this week's stuff, or last week's stuff, or the week before that - no one gives a shit if you hate this stuff, because they are constantly bringing out a pretty goddamn wide variety of stuff. In the last several weeks we've had the B-52s, Nine Inch Nails, Grateful Dead, and At the Gates (among many others). We've had pop-rock, industrial rock, classic rock, and thrash. We've had major label bands and indie bands. Oh, and the Portal song is just around the corner.
If you can't find at least ONE thing that you like in the last month's worth of stuff, then YOU have the problem, not Harmonix.
Oh, but I do agree with the above comment re: Evile being a Slayer ripoff.
Evile = True Crime
Slayer = GTA3
