Instead of doing extra posts on Kotaku about important things, Mike McWhertor has been squandering his valuable time creating his own company, Meat Bun. Combining his love of t-shirts and video games, Mike foolishly went into business with friend and Pikachu belly enthusiast Scott Spatola, creating a line of game-themed tees. He's been wearing them at events and TV appearances all year, cruelly teasing that they'd be coming any day now.
Any day now... any day now. But finally, they're here. Go check out the Meat Bun store and give him some money so he forgets about that nasty "raise" business.

We shall make a petition to give Mike a raise.
...And once successful, I would not be at all surprised to see a free shirt sent my way. >_>
Sweet. Congrats, McMike. I'll go check it out.
W00T! FIRST!
FAKE EDIT: Damn it!
Meatbun...?
Why meatbun?
they are nice, but 29.95 is a little steep for t-shirts. i'd buy the fight night one if it was a little cheaper.
trolling through now to see if there is any I want
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, meat buns, *drools.
Cute models.
The girls aren't bad either.
wow, i just saw the SoTC one... still expensive but oh so tempting...AHHHH
Yea. Ill take one; god knows, I'll rock it in few years for a reader feature.
@Jesus Christ: Why Meat Bun? [meatbun.us] That's why!
The "Agro" series are /godlike.
@Michael McWhertor: Congratulations on the launch!
@InsidiousTuna: Any interst in making the "Aggro Polo" design into a solid-color Polo-style shirt with an embroidered Aggro Polo logo on the left breast? Because I'd be on that like a fat kid on a Skittle.
That Meat Bun on the site is adorable. Good job! I'll be sure to look through.
@Michael McWhertor: Haha I knew what they were. I just am confused why you would choose to name the site "Meatbun" when you're selling gaming related apparel.
@Michael McWhertor: $29.99???? Who are these shirts for? People with jobs?
I clicked on the about section to see more about the makers and aim of the website, I now know what a meat bun is! Yay education!
Wow. Two shirts or a new game...hmm I'll take a new game. Waaaay to steep for a T.
LOL Conbon. The logo looks like a Goron from Zelda, do I smell lawsuit by Nintendo? :p
@Crosswayboy: Thanks, Mr. Z!
@InsidiousTuna: Interest? Mmmmmaybe.
@=O: Just think, for less than a dollar a day (excluding February) you could keep yourself clothed!
Seriously, I understand that it's not cheap, but we've really done our best to use good materials, expert printing and good packaging to try and make it worth the cost. We're doing limited prints, so we hope that an extra fiver isn't asking too much. We tried to look at what we're paying regularly for clothes and settled on a price point.
@Conbon: Definitely not for college students, that's for sure. How'd you gget to be a star commenter?
Judging by the look on the face of the girl on the right, I'm forced to assume that you're not wearing anything but the shirt as a sign of your commitment to the company. Good show, now start producing pants. Immediately.
@GPman: $30 isn't steep at all for shirts made by small teams with small print runs. In fact it's a steal.
Absolutely LOVE the 'Fight Night' poster style shirt, but the Type or Die shirt just seems kind of... amateur. Will have to keep my eyes on the site.
NIKUMANJU!!! You need to put that little meat bun on one of your shirts.
@Luke Plunkett:
I don't care if that shit was made by Jesus.
$30 bucks, for a T-shirt, will never be a steal.
why are there models used on the kotaku page, bt no one is wearing the shirts on the actual site it is being sold? Sex appeal sells, look at Tomb Raider, despite lackluster quality, Edios still sees some money for placing booty and cleavage shos everywhere from prepubescent 12 year olds, the same ones that screams on xbox live matches. Then again, it their site, they can do what ever they want
Why is McWhertor holding that Wii remote like a phone?
I'll make sure to check out the site every once in awhile, nothing there that I'd get right now but I'm sure there'll be something there that I'll want eventually.
@InsidiousTuna: I got it on Friday at Gawker, I think it's some new feature. And it's completely meaningless.
@Luke Plunkett: I don't know, guess it is where I shop. I don't hit named stores and go for brand names. Guess I am spoiled by hitting small hippy clothing version of a "farmers market" in town. Used to paying between $15-$20. Haven't bought a shirt in a big name store in years so I guess I am out of the loop in prices. (shrugs) But if you all say it is a good value, then go for it. :)
@ban_hammer: All those models are used on the regular Meat Bun site, plus more.
@RonCey: Well I promise you, I did not make it. But $30 for a T-Shirt coming from a small site that was just created isn't too much to ask for, so calm down and cut them slack, okay?
Here's a tip: i'll never buy a T-shirt over 15.99. Usually i top out at 9.99 but recently i've found some really stylish vans shirts and other ones that i'm willing to fork 5 more bucks over for.
$30 for T-shirts?
Fuck that.
@Harmatia: Read the post above, and now I feel bad. I take my "fuck that" back.
And, I admit, that if these shirts are as high-quality as purported, and some came out that I liked enough, I would throw down the money.
I like Agro.
Why not "Meaty Bun"?
Another thing do not call "Agro Polo" by that name. Ralph Lauren is very quick with the lawyers. He tried to sue a Polo Magazine for their name.It was a magazine that covers the sport.
Well as soon as i get paid next week (or is it next next week?) that blue type or die and the lemon street fighter shirt are mines. Screw you threadless, this is where it's at now. AND THEY HAVE SMALLS!?!? omg, it's like dream im afraid im going to wake up in.
@Harmatia: Don't feel bad. We expected it! I'm sure it will be a common sentiment, as people place different value on things.
BTW, for all if you bitching about the shirts being 30$. Have you ever bought a shirt online before? Everywhere i'v shopped at online, shirts have been 20-30$. This isnt target/wal mart where they sell solid colors for 5 bucks a pop or sponge bob for 10
I wanna t-shirt with the Meat Bun on it!
Also, now I'm hungry. Pork bao, anyone?
rawr@30$ clothing!
*goes back to buying 60$ video games*
I'm probably not the first, and I certainely won't be the last- but you need a Shirt with your Meat Bun logo on it.
Ironically, I can't stomach meat buns nowadays. I used to love them, but then I got one with a bone in it. Scarred me for life.
Those shirts are pretty kick ass! I'm going to be picking up one of those vega vs. balrog shirts fo sho.
Keep up the styling, I love it.
I love the 'Super Neo Mega Turbo' shirt.
But for $32.99, I can get 3 shirts for that amount. No offense man, and it's awesome as hell that you came up with this, but that's a steep asking price.
Best of luck with your store though.
Oh I forgot to mention: no love for the XXL = not cool.
$30 for a damn t-shirt? what are you fucking retarded?
@Jesus Christ: That post may be the funniest thing I have ever seen. SRSLY.
Meatbun.us, Meatbunus, MeatBONUS!? Consider this case cracked.
Since I have your attention McWhertor, make me a Starcraft T-Shirt >.<
Yea, @Tyber_Zann: I was about to say the same thing. No love for us fatties. C'mon dude. We're gamers for christ sake. We've been either born with poor metabolism or inherent laziness.
My mom lightened the blow as a child by calling me "husky". I always thought that sounded nice n' manly.
I love you Mike, but why do you hate us? Why do you hate the huskies?
@awwyeadatsright: There's no hate! Give us some time, ok?
@Michael McWhertor: sry lol kthx
Hmmm...they're not ugly or anything, but they're really...blah.
They suffer from the same design flaw as most novelty tshirts. The references and themes and whatnot are great, but the designs themselves never seem to get as much attention to detail. Now if someone could make video game shirts that were actually cool to look at as well as having awesome novelty value, I'd be sold.
Lol nice shirts, I might have to buy one of those Fight Night ones when I get some extra monies
@Michael McWhertor:
Bannable offense!!!!!!
Haha, grats dude!
I am seriously in love with that Super Neo Mega Turbo shirt. So much that I think I am going to drop 33 bones on it.
Reminds me of Polo, not the clothing brand but the explorer. Now if you could only raise him from the dead and dawn that t shirt on him then you would have yourself a winner and a sale.
Try RedBuddle
There's some really awesome stuff up there and the prices aren't that steep; considering that each t-shirt is printed on request and no silkscreening is involved. Plus, you can design your own stuff so if you want a gaming t-shirt, make one...
@yanthrax: It's got foil AND metallic gold ink on it! It's neat! :)
@Channing: Thanks!
@Michael McWhertor: As a fellow Canuck (and one with a job) I will gladly purchase your goods, and may your empire FLOURISH. It better flourish good, dammit.
You are the Canuck aren't you? All you Kotaku writers look alike to me.
@awwyeadatsright: i dont even wanna hear it. Do you know how many shirts from gamestop i WISHED came in small so i could where them but they were all L-XXL? A FUCKING LOT! Now i have to watch my dad wear them all the time. He's 63! He doesn't know what a turok is!
@Ti
