That. Was. So. Fucking. Cool.
This is the best thing on the internets today
Brilliant!
Duhhhhh duh duhh! Duh duh duh duhh duhh duh duhh duh.
bump n' jump anyone??
I normally hate when companies try to advertise utilizing something they seem to know nothing about. They normally come off as unbelievable, and I think this spot is of the contrary. Too bad I dont really watch tv, or I be able to see this for real!
@Roflcopter_Down: Wants you to follow HIM!: You failed at it but you tried so *slow clap*
That was pretty cool. We need more commercials along those lines.
@Luke Plunkett: Seconded.
That sir was shit hot! :D
Was that condescending?
Nice! Gaming culture gone legit and done right.
That transition from top-down view to full-on 3D was incredible.
This commercial is made of win! I want a new car, and I have been looking. Hmmm, was thinking of a new Toyota, but may have to check this one out. Way to catch my attention!
OMG that was awesome!!! All they need now is the car to find the secret boathouse and hit the water as a transformed speedboat!!!
sweet.
Crap, I was going to max out my IRAs but obviously now I'm buying a Pontiac. CURSE YOU MID-20s MARKETING FOCUS GROUPS
Just so long as there isn't an extended version with Dwayne Johnson walking out of the car ("the Rock", ins't a Spy Hunter movie reference, Was there actually a movie?)
That's one to bookmark :)
Ohhhhh SNAP! Best VG nostalgic commercial I've ever seen.
@AntiZERO: This ad, not the one I mentioned...
omg, i came. you made my night, brian.
What is the deal with people bragging about how they don't watch TV?
Oh man, that was great. Dugg the shit out of that shit.
A well intentioned use of video games in typically non-gamer material?
How can this be?
Dang it! Some one already say BRILLIANT! Old school is the best, Oh Spy Hunter, back when you were actually an awesome game, and not some spin offs by the Rock....
That was awesome!
Now switch to a boat!
Finally a reason to stay tuned in for the commercials!
wowee!!! i freaking dug the pixelated 3d landscape in the background. pontiac is officially cooler than all of us
fantastic ad for a fantastic car
If more 80's games are used for advertising, I'm all for it. This was so good.
You are welcome.
My friend did this commercial on my recomendation.
Alot of creative people in Michigan.
That. Was. AWESOME!
Win.
Spy Hunter and the Peter Gunn Theme FTFW.
@wild_world_girl:
Same thing with vegetarians. They have a need to announce it to the world for some reason.
I cried while watching!
@LittleBigPlaneteer:
Lol This is an awsome CM. The car would be a nice buy if they show this ad on TV. I need to care about other things too.
Wow, what a fantastic advertisement. THAT is how you get our attention. I'd like a downloadable version, please.
Thumbs WAY up. I hadn't heard nor cared about Pontiac for at least 5 years. Now that's over. Though I won't buy the thing unless it's a Hybrid anyway.
(and, why wasn't the car white?? I'm just saying...)
that was sooo hot... i need a towel. seriously ill buy the car just because of that commercial..i kid i kid.
The best part? I think the Hi-Score at the end is the actual MSRP of the car! BRILLIANT!!
mmm, right up there with the toyota tacoma world of warcraft commercial.
It's sad that Pontiac was able to make a better Spy Hunter game then the actual Spy Hunter game that came out a couple years ago.
God, I used to go to my aunt's house and play this game non-stop for hours.
Woah! A video game reference done right!
Anyone else used to shoot the resupply truck after being deployed?
@Witzbold: *raises hand* Sadly, I did. :P
And, yes, that is a very cool commercial!
That was... nice.
This has to be my favorite commercial ever. Brings back so many memories. :D
@[KU]Shindokie:Pon Pon Pata Pon!: Should I try again?
Duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duhhh duh!@
Darkest Daze: Spyhunter on the PS2 wasn't that bad.
Nice commercial. But the car's front end/grill is hideous.
Though for a GT trim, housed under the hood is 361-hp, 6.0-liter V-8. 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds. MSRP with no options = $29,995
GM should have kept the same front end as the Australian-built Holden Commodore. The Pontiac G8 is a nearly-identical copy of the Holden Commodore.
they build excitement!
That was suhweeeeet.
@Roflcopter_Down: Wants you to follow HIM!:
The PS2 Spy Hunter was good, but it just didn't quite have that same feel to it. Something like this just seems to stay really true to the roots of Spy Hunter. Just the visual art style of reminds you of the 2D roots, while still looking amazing.
Of course keeping all the thrills we get out of the commercial and making it into a video game would be a little bit harder, but I'd be pretty tempted to buy it.
Wow. So often they stoop to just generalized ideas of what video games are. Specifics ftw.
This is a marketing department that actually had someone who truly understood a target demographic. It fan service and ad rolled into one. Did anyone actually care what car they were advertising?
Ho-ly Shee-it!
Nicely done, Pontiac. Very nicely done. Looks like it's time to take a closer look at a new car. What can I say? Marketing is fucking effective when it's done right!
Very clever. But I think they should have used Poison Ivy's (The Cramps) cover of the Peter Gunn theme instead.
Also as an F-body enthusiast and Trans Am owner I still want to see 5th gen Firebird!
wow I want this car now. first time an ad has ever made me want to buy somthing
coolest car commercial ever. (and i've seen thousands)
Ha ha! Great Commercial! More of this!
@Roflcopter_Down: Wants you to follow HIM!: It was worse.
No machine guns? Pfft.
It's an Aussie too!
I just wished they went the extra mile and put in the boat :/
Other then that, pretty sweet. I love the oil slick !
that was seriously bad ass...
That was SO freaking win. Nice to see they had actually played the game before trying to emulate it.
I've got to wonder, how many people registered here aren't old enough to get the reference? Old-school FTW.
So nice.
Although I remember seeing a car ad that looked pretty much exactly like Need for Speed. Which is basically an interactive advertisement itself.
This reminds me of the car game that comes with Game Maker...
