Infinity Ward continues to take down the competition on the software side, with Call of Duty 4 for the Xbox 360 narrowly outselling Devil May Cry 4 in February. Capcom's decision to go multiplatform for its newest stylish action game was clearly a smart one, with the 360 version outselling its PlayStation 3 sibling by a good 60,000 copies.
The month saw some impressive debuts, including strong sales for Lost Odyssey and Turok. Wii Play and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games continue to be lapped up by the masses, with Guitar Hero III and Rock Band taking the open slots on the top ten. Numbers are after this.

Total software sales topped a staggering $668 million, up 47% from last year. Just one more record setting month for the video game industry.
Considering the impressive line up of marquee titles released this month—Super Smash Bros. Brawl, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Condemned 2: Bloodshot, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, to name a few—expect March to outperform February's record-breaking take.

Outsold DMC4 on the 360, if PS3 sales are added...
But then I suppose we'd have to round up figures for PS3 and PC COD4.
No Mario Galaxy in top 10? Very strange, considering its been keeping up with COD4 in week to week sales.
How long has Wii Play held a spot in the top 10? It is like we see it up there every month.

360 doesn't need to keep up the hardware sales to supply it's software sales at this point which is why it can place 2nd to last and still sell 5 out of the top 10 games

Guess all those new PS3 owners were using it as a "cheap" movie player because they certainly weren't buying games.

glad to see DMC4 did well on the 360, proving the multi-plat idea is a good one.
So capcom can safely assume more systems equals more sales, not seeing why it's headline worthy pointing out DMC4 selling better on the xbox 360. With more xbox 360's out there than PS3's I'd be very worried if it wasn't.
Still can't figure out the whole CoD4 thing. Seriously.

Glad to see Lost Odyssey selling well, good to know people will buy a game on the 360 that doesn't feature guns (as long as it has a good sized marketing campaign ;) )

@MBCpeanut: Neither can I, I played both online and offline on PC & console, but it's not above any other quality shooter (namely HL2, CS, BF2, even Halo) to me.
But I'm assuming if we go into that, we'll die from fanboys lighting our asses on fire.

Perhaps the fact that are just under triple the amount of Xbox 360s in America as there are PS3s I would certainly expect that Xbox would dominate sales. Considering DMC4 was only 60k below it's 360 brethren, suffice it say it looks like PS3 owners are buying games.
Considering the userbase is smaller for PS3. The sales difference between DMC4 on 360 is pretty weak.

I'm not tired of COD4(PS3) yet, since I still haven't finished it, lol. Heck, someday, I'll get around to playing the online portion of it.
@njhardcoreguy: Yeah, I got tired of CoD4, because it kept on crashing. Considering the fact that my PC has a 3.00GHz Athlon 64 X2, a 768MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTX and 4GB of RAM, I'm pretty pissed. It's a shame, because the action is absolutely amazing. I've tried every single fix available, and I simply experience sporadic crashes no matter what.
Lost Odyssey and Turok sales prove that if you market the shit out of something it will sell, no matter how big of a turd it is.

@Candlejack: The graphics are better than all of those you listed. Honestly, it feels like I have more control in COD4 than in H3. HL2 is fun but it doesn't compare to COD4 in my opinion. CS isn't a console game. I've played CS a couple of times, but I really don't like mouse/keyboard controls. BF2 just wasn't fun(I only tried it on 360).

@kubevubin: Thats why i've switched to console gaming. The only games worth playing on PC's are rts's. Although I will say that Spore & Starcraft 2 will temporarily suck me back into PC gaming.
