And it's about bloody time. Hudson have finally gotten around to announcing a Bomberman game for the Wii. For the console's WiiWare service, to be precise. And it's not some mini-game thing, either. It's a proper Bomberman game. It'll support up to eight players in the one game, and - according to Famitsu - should be out in Japan sometime in June. Can't wait.

Oh my god, yes! Finally is right, my friend.
I miss the rabbit things that you could ride.
Luke, for shame using the Dreaded J*P word in a news post. You should watch out for the banhammer. ;)
Didn't a disc based Bomberman come out for Wii within the last year? I coulda SWORN there was a recent Wii Bomberman....*scratches head*
Witzbold you lucky bastard.
Bomberman 93 is probably still the most played game on my Wii when my friends come over.
Hell YES! I love me some Bomberman. The old school N64 stuff, not that new-age MegaMan crap. But I am curious of how this will sit with all of those anti-gaming ravers... "Bomberman teaches kindergarteners how to create, plant, and carry out terrorist bomb plots!" I see it now "Stop letting video games create Baby Bombers!"
and Don't forget that Bomb-on-Bomb action guys.
@Knoxximus (360/PSN):
Maybe you're thinking of the Bomberman 93 I just mentioned? Its a virtual console game.
@Knoxximus (360/PSN): Only bomberman on disc I can recall in the past few years was Bomberman Act Zero... you should totally buy it, its great...
i play bomber live on xbox daily....this should be dope
Ok, can someone clear this up for me once and for all? Is "Bloody" considered a profanity? In any country? (its generally not minded in the US, at least, not that I know of)
@Knoxximus (360/PSN): Yes, it was called Bomberman Land. It was sorta mostly based on the DS game with the same name. It wasn't a true bomberman game, just a collection of mini games with a bomberman game tacked on.
@Knoxximus (360/PSN): Yeah, Bomberman Land. Collection of minigames. Highly forgettable.
Okay smart assess...here it is.
[en.wikipedia.org])
Bomberman Land. Granted, it was mostly a mini-game fest, but it DID have a traditional multiplayer component.
And NitrousO, when you go to hell, I hope you don't forget to take that Act Zero with you. ;p
.....damn lag...
@Knoxximus (360/PSN):
Yes, Bomberman Land. A mini-game collection. Although the Land series is new to America, the series has been around since the PS1 days in Japan. Also has the classic Bomberman multiplayer game in it, too.
@NitrousO:
LIES! SLANDEROUS LIES! Saying something like that would get you killed in certain places...
Not really much of big deal. It's just a WiiWare game so won't it just be almost exactly live the XBLA game? It's not like the WiiWare service is that different from XBLA but whatever. I may get it, and I guess they might take this in a bit of a different direction.
Yes! I wasn't satisfied with the TG-16 Bomberman. I was holding out for the Snes version if they ever released it on the VC, but this looks like it could be even better.
Did anybody ever play the Bomberman (not bomberman touch land) game on DS?
I keep seeing it at best buy for 15 bucks, and every site that has reviewed puts it higher than bomberman touch land.
I've never heard anybody talk of it, though.
... of course, i go to school in the middle of nowhere where people dont play kool games. :/
@Dogysamich:
A friend of mine had it. It had quite a few multiplayer options. But, I got Bomberman Land Touch! since it had Wi-Fi Connection support. And online Bomberman = win.
Hmmm, I wonder if there will ever be another good bomberman 64 style game.
The Wii keeps making me happier and happier.
Haven't said that for a while.
Oh hell yes. My friends and I often play drunken games of 5-player Bomberman '93, a game we can even get our girlfriends to play. I would pay large amounts to have a proper multiplayer Bomberman.
the bomber man on the virtual console is sufficient
Cool... I have the old NES Bomberman. I haven't touched the series since, but I enjoyed that one.
Hoowah! More WiiWare goodies, and Bomberman it is. I have '93, but I'll probably end up getting this too, can't have enough Bomberman.
Judging from the pictures, there's no "realistic and mature" game models nor radically new 3d game mechanics. It just looks like classic Bomberman, and that makes me kind of excited.
Awesome! So that makes a easy-download XBL version, and now a Wii version; how come Hudson has no love for a PSN version?
@Dogysamich: i have that ds cart (bomberman ds) and it is true bomberman. worth the 15 if you have a couple buddies. the multiplayer might be better than land touch ds multiplayer but there are trade offs between the 2. im rather sick of the bomberman minigame deluge.
Bomberman 93 was the first game I downloaded on Virtual Console. Fun times.
I loved Bomerman 64, which really has nothing to do with the rest of the series, which is a real shame.
FUCKIN FINALLY.
Saturn Bomberman ftw!
Also, as an Asian American I don't consider "Jap" a racist slur any more than calling someone "Brit" or "Viet" is.
Let's face it, it's not cool in English to use 3+ syllable words. THAT is why Japanese was shortened to Jap, good ol' USA laziness. Not racism. There are plenty of slurs reserved for that.
Mega Bomberman probably got more play then any other game on my Sega (besides General Chaos). Those screens make me happy that it is not going to be a "wiini"-game fest. And no wii-controls please, just a d-pad and 2 buttons.
Yessss Bomberman! Another game to add to my list of must-buys.
@Dogysamich: Dude, Bomberman Land Touch is way better than regular Bomberman on DS. Both are fine games though.
I wonder if this new Wii Bomberman game will be better than Bomberman Live on 360? It will certainly lack voice chat, but the core gameplay might be better.
