There is no shortage of things to kill this week, as hundreds of zombies, mutant fish and mentally unstable hobos vie for your first person view killing dollars. If House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return and Condemned 2: Bloodshot aren't up your alley, perhaps some of this week's portable role-playing games will be. The full list is after the jump!
Condemned 2: Bloodshot (PS3, Xbox 360)
Crumple the skulls of scores of scary homeless guys as you search for clues.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates (DS)
Four-player RPG fun over Wi-fi makes big-head role-playing possible.
House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return (Wii)
Zombies must be destroyed, whether by pistol or shotgun.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (DS, PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii)
Formerly known as Winning Eleven, Pro Evo returns.
Wild Arms XF (PSP)
Hex-based RPG action on the go.
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (PS2)
The former PSP game gets a PlayStation 2 port.
Insecticide (DS)
The film noir bug adventure from Gamecock and Crackpot.
In addition to the above, Seven Kingdoms Conquest (PC), Buzz! Hollywood Quiz (PS2), Buzz Jr. Robo Jam (PS2), Nanostray 2 (DS) and Imperium Romanum (PC) are expected on store shelves. What are you picking up? Me, I'm going for some House of the Dead 2 & 3 action!

poopy week
Your headline made me spit out my Coke, McWhertor. You owe me one. :-p
not a bad week; i can try out ratchet & clank one that i missed, house of the dead warrants a rental, and wild ARMs will excite a few.
personally, im looking forward to Condemned 2, the first one was surprisingly good for a survivor horror no one seems to talk about (up till the crazy ending, natch, but still fun). This one, i was wary cause it seems to have jack to do with the first game but then, again, i wasnt married to the plot's direction, and EGM's review/the details on exploding baby grenades have me excited. Plus, its not like us horror junkies hae much go to go on...Alone in the Dark eventually, SH5 possibly this year? RE5 likely in '09, and Alan Wake, i know even less on. *sigh*
Condemned 2: Bloodshot and House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return are probably the only games worth checking out to me on this list. Even still, I doubt I'll be running out to get them anytime soon.
Damn, my Wild Arms XF comes out this week! Gonna have to be the first Wild Arms game I wait a little while longer to get. Then Crisis Core is coming soon...PSP time!
I saw a special where I can get original Condemned for free if I pick up Condemned 2.
Now, avoiding the original; can somone englighten me if the bonus package is worth it?.
If the first game was entertaining enough, I am assuming the sequel will be improved upon.
However, If I am paying 60 bucks for a gargabe franchise, even the free game isn't worth it.
Got my original copies of HOTD so no, and rather play with proper lightgun instead of wiimote.
Wild Arms.... would get but too much SRPG backlog for me.
Go, Kuarl!
Picking up Condemned 2 on the first day its available, cant wait to play it!
Well since I had no idea Crystal Chronicles was coming out anytime soon it's sure to suck, with the little attention it's gotten. What a shame.
Must...crush...hobo skulls!
Not picking anything up this week. Huge backlog to finish first lol. x_x
Typing of the Dead was legendary...
I'd grab HotD if it has an autofire mode - when I played the arcades you had to hold the gun in one hand and go insane on the trigger with the other just to barely keep up and use minimal continues... with two players! If I had to pull the trigger for every shot on a home version, I would lose all use of my right hand. Other than that, it's awesome.
Won't be getting anything else until April.
@Kyle81: Heh, its funny because I just finally played a Ghost Squad machine yesterday at the local go-kart place for the first time, and I personally think with calibration the aiming is easier/more accurate on the Wii version. Have to see how I feel about HOTD on Wii, because I'm definitely buying it.
Also, HOTD fans: Sega claims that if HOTD2+3 sells well they'll give us HOTD4 AND Typing of the Dead for Wii, so if you care about that AT ALL I suggest you go grab a copy. You don't have to play it or anything, I know we're all in the grip of brawl fever, but yeah.
Is that green blood on the zombies axes? In the words of G.O.B. - "Come on!"
Definitely can't wait to read some opinions on Wild Arms, it looks quite good. I'll keep my eye on that one.
Look, I'll pick up HOTD because it's awesome - I just hope they've seen fit to keep the Keyboards on trays and Dreamcast backpacks with monster batteries. The game just doesn't make sense without them!
I might pick up condemned 2 this week, it looks badass. Plus I'm a sucker for horror games... <3
I'll be looking to pick up Size Matters. Missing out on a Ratchet game is simply criminal. Even if the reason is I will never buy a PSP... not even for Patapon *sigh*
I just love the way you phrased that in the form of a question. That damn imp was annoying.
FFCC:RoF Does not allow you to play the game online, all the WiFi is for is to trade moggles.
@Fyren:
Having bought the original at launch, I still havent finished it, and probably will never feel the need. Not saying that it is a poor game, it just didnt spark my interest. If you like the horror genre then i would recommend, (my 13 year old cousin was too scared to play the game after watching me for about 5 min), though at this point im sure you want find the original for less than $10 used..
I still have HotD2 on Dreamcast. :D
PLEASE HELP MEEEEE!
ARRRGHHHH!
Crystal Chronicles for the DS doesnt support Wi-Fi multiplayer. the Wi-Fi is for rtading moggles youve painted but multiplayer is DS-DS only.
@abhakam:
My God.
Condemned 2 for me. Im hoping it'll be super fantastic and i also hope the multiplayer is some what fun.
I had no idea Crystal Chronicles for the DS came out this week. Did that even come out in japan yet? Did it do well? But im going to get my friend to get house of the dead Wii. Can't go wreong with some arcade shooting
HOTD will be getting a looksee as we've grown quite fond of co-opping our way through shooters. We had a blast with Umbrella Chronicles and Ghost Squad so here's to a fun weekend of wholesale zombie cheese!
I wish Sega released the 'zapper bundle' with House of the Dead Return like they did in Japan.
House of the Dead on Wii? Ok, now I'm sold.
My old Lightgun doesn't work as good with LCD Monitors as it used to be. T_T
For my friend's birthday present,
I mailed her a little bunny rabbit.
She was sad when she got it, because
I forgot to poke air holes in the box.
Must get Nanostray 2! \o/
SSBB came out Sunday! Everyone just play that.
Trash my last comment, I just ordered it online. xD I hope its awesome.
Condemned 2 looks excellent, too bad I just bought Brawl, the game where 15 minute breaks last 2 hours.
Ahh, funniest headline ever
Just what I needed
Pro Evolution Wii actually comes out next Tuesday. I have been waiting for it for so long....why did they have to delay it by another week??
@reddevil: Do they still carry the Pro Evo name?.
I wish they would just get rid of Pro Evo mechanics. While superficially similar, the game is slower, and just overall loses the feel of the Winning Series.
@Fyren: There is a difference? They are the same thing (I have played both). It's called Winning Eleven in Japan and the US, and Pro Evolution in the UK/Europe. Now it's Pro Evolution in the US too (don't know about Japan).
In any case, the Wii version radically alters the gameplay. I am scared and excited at the same time, since I am so used to the "old" style, but the new style looks exciting.
house of the dead FTW!
Wild ARMs, myself.
Headline is one of my favorite unintentionally funny moments in gaming, right next to "Radio? What's going on with that radio?"
Well played.
C'mon... Seriously? I've just picked up Smash Bros. I don't need anything else for a long, long time.
Like... end of Aprilish.
With Brawl, no other game matters.
Nice headline! Reminds me of the best Rock Band band name I saw while looking at the leaderboards: Dogs of the AMS.
If Condemned 2 is region locked also Im going to shit a kitten.
Still bitter that Army of Two was also RLed so I had to buy the ugly ass "Asian" version.
@Witzbold: I take it you got the 360 version then? All that RL stuff is pretty much why I went for the PS3 version of Army of Two, which was all English except for the dinky 9 page manual which was all Chinese.
@Chef: I dont like playing shooters on the PS3.
I broke down and got rock band for the PS3. Dont have time to play so its sitting in its huge handleless box atm. Do hope to check it out sometime soon though.
Really wanted the 360 one but once fucking again with the stupid shit region lock.
Seriously those dipshits who decide this stuff need to know the more their game gets sold the better off they are. Dont block shit due to regioning. Since not everyone is going to import. Sides you are just kicking your self in the ass by pissing off your fanbase in the regions that have to wait even longer for it to be "localized". UK / AUSTRALIA knows this all too well. Im suprised they havent gone totally ballistic by now about this also.
If anything more positive word of mouth will be generated about the game. Granted it could work the other way around too, but its better than having a shitload of pissed off fans sitting around feeling like they are being screwed over and treated as second rate consumers.
THE DAY OF REGIONS IS FUCKING OVER
/obviouslypissedoff.
@Witzbold: While the Xbox and Xbox 360 *do* enjoy regular English language releases in Asia, it's still limited, and there are LOTS of titles that don't get English language releases (Beautiful Katamari, Ace Combat 6), even though they've already been localized for other regions. But thanks to region locking, I can't play them unless I buy a second, US region 360, which will then not be able to play my J/A games. WTF. It's not just games - I'm somewhat chuffed that I have all of the current gen consoles, and I'm not allowed to play my US DVDs on any one of them. Brilliant.
Sir G-o-o-o-l-d! Man I love that game.
Ooooo weeee, man do I want FF CC but why in the hell is it not online?
I have a feeling the FF CC for the wii isn't going to be so golden either...I know many of you hated the original, but it's probably one of the best co-op RPGs. Too bad it didn't get a lot of good light do to the weird connectivity.
