And dogs are also part of the canine family. So are foxes (depending on who you ask), dingos, coyotes, and jackals. But try entering a wolf into a dog show on that basis, and you'll probably be having a chat with the local cops. Besides, Link technically qualified more as a werewolf (there wolf, there castle) than a real wolf.
