Personally, I think Kotaku is at least 99.9 percent gold. I'd like to think we are, in fact filler free. I do know for a fact that all of Kotaku writers, myself included, only post the stuff they find interesting. But the fact is we do a crapload of posts in a given day. A fact I'm sure you are well aware of if you're a Kotaku regular. Not only do we post a story every 20 minutes on the site during the day, we have our night crew who slave away on the site while the sun is in the other hemisphere.
Keeping up for some can be quite a drag. So we created the day and night notes. Not only does this allow Ash and I to communicate with one another, but it gives us both a chance to point out some of the best stories of our shift.
But that still might not be what you're looking for. So here's another solution, the master list to all of our tagged RSS feeds. That's right every single tag we use on the site, from 1080p to Zune, has its one RSS feed. Go hog wild, but don't come complaining to me when you miss a feature on Objectivism on BioShock or us breaking the news that Peter Moore quit Microsoft.
RSS Feeds Master List [Kotaku]

Comments
I use you RSS through my PSP quite a bit, thanks for the master list :)
*Your (edit button next please ;) )
Yes sir, gold it is. In fact, a rare diamond in the rough among the other sites too busy with commercialism and pandering to companies with money.
G'otaku!
I feel like a lot of the Gawker sister sites feel inadequate in their post count when compared to you guys. You are like the overachieving nerdy older brother who everyone really genuinely likes but secretly resents.
Does that mean you guys actually find time to sleep?
@NeoStarr: SLEEP!!!
NEVER!!!!
!
Thanks Guys!
The only problem I have seen with the tags is sometimes you guys can tag, for example a Nintendo article as only "Nintendo DS" or the games title etc so hitting the main Nintendo tag to see all the news regarding that company doesn't really come up with all of the articles that really have somethign to do with it.
But I do admit tagging articles must take up a bit of time. Besides that I enjoy scrolling through the whole of kotaku anyway, because with tags, you never know what interesting and bizarre articles you could be missing ;D
Oh and bouncing an idea off edges reply, the only added feature I would really love is for there to be a little button you could press to see all the times people have "@username" replied to you. This way you couldn't miss replies from others on articles that are a bit older...
Of course I don't actually think that it's even a possible thing to implement, but maybe if Kotaku ever got a major overhaul? :D
@satek: You can follow a commenter with your account and it will alert you every time they post a comment. To follow you just need to click on the plus symbol next to one of their comments.
pata pata pata pon... It's the other thing I think of all the time, every when I sleep :S Thank god for Kotaku, I can always count on your Writers and Commentators to pick me up when I'm in a gaming rut...
Yeah but sometimes you guys write about the same thing as the other guy just wrote 24 hours ago. You should really read each other's work. And sometimes same story from a long time ago.
thats gonna be sexy come next contest time.
@nxp3: I've noticed that as well. But honestly, I enjoy reading two different writers spin their stories, you get a unique view. Plus, the comments are usually vastly different, except for the couple of people pointing out its a repeat.
@nxp3: We do track that, it happens maybe twice a week. Not bad if you figure in the 50 or so posts we do a day.
@nxp3: I read Kotaku everyday and I can't recall any dupes (not that they don't happen, but if they were frequent I'd remember). Are you sure you're not mistaking follow ups with dupes? Sometimes they even use the same pictures so it might look like a dupe. I think Kotaku does a great job with avoiding duplicates (better than sites like fark).

Anyway, thanks for the feeds guys! This will make it even easier to read Kotaku on the go. Keep up the good work, we surely appreciate. Cheers!
Lol, worthless for me because I read pretty much every story anyways. But bravo on the added functionalness
A kotaku regular since the controversy of the Sony/Home situation, I have been known to wake up, refresh the kotaku page, which is my home page, and enjoy your fantastic posts.
When I was new I was astounded that stories that Kotaku were reporting up to a week ago were only just hitting the major websites, e.g. IGN, Gamespot, and now you're doing reviews this is my one source of info from now on.
Good job fellas. Plus the comment sections are always a bit better than the Gamespot ones :P
My RSS reader refreshes every five minutes and there are still at least 20 comments before I can even click on the news story.
Does this mean I won't miss ANYTHING anymore?!?!?! Woo!111ONE
@Communist_Gamer:
I know where you're coming from. Before, I used to think only the "big" sites like IGN,Gamespot, etc get the exclusives or scoops if you will.
When I came across game blogs, it was a big big difference. It's more opinionated,up to date and a lot of other things.
I tip my nunchaks to Crecente,Bash and the others. Only site I know who updates constantly within the day. Even weekends.
@Brian Crecente:
Is Drew going to be posting again by tomorrow? Or is it a one time deal?
I agree that most of the stuff is good and actually relevant, however there are exceptions like Bashcrafts Haruhi obesession where I've more than once seen posts totally unrelated to games...and those do feel like fillers.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but before the last redesign there was a link somewhere on the site that let you see a compact list of just the title + picture of every story. Is there anything like that still around?
[reader.google.com]
Subscribe to the main Kotaku feed. Read the ones that you care about. Once you're done reading those, mark the rest of the feed as read and move on. I avoid all SSBB articles that way.
Wait. Peter Moore quit Microsoft?
IMO,stuff like Minibash,Haruhi, gamecakes, and so forth are what makes Kotaku Kotaku. If I wanted "just the facts,ma'am" I'm sure there's blogs for that, but I enjoy the extra content as much or more than the real stuff.
More functions = Happy Users!
Am I less of a person if I just snag MAXIMUM RISKY and walk away?
I have two simple feeds, Kotaku and Wired, I prefer Kotaku, lemme tell you that. It's on all the systems I have firefox on (I don't share the same bookmarks, just the same RSS feeds)
@Brian Crecente: I think he meant how many times people replies to him, not to stalk users lol
There should be a ninja killing game where you are Jack Sparrow, Cowboy of the East.
@Roto13: haha yea, same. I've yet to see a story where no one has commented.
I don't mind sifting through the articles, as long as you check your rss feeds once a day, its easy to spot which article I'd find interesting.
I'm not as interested in anything Japani-emo, PS3, DS, or PC-Gaming related so luckily I'm not overwhelmed by relevant content at all. 360 news and Maximum Risky all the way!
I like trying to read almost every article because as biased as i am towards wii/ps3 i still wanna hear about microsoft =p and other news
I don't use the RSS feeds. I use my internal brain tissue memory to recall what the last article I read was and then start from the top and read everything in order until I get down to the last one that I read. Then I wait for further updates and repeat the process. I don't think I've missed a single article since I started coming here.
maximum risky, everything else does not really matter ;)
@Rask: But you might miss "Smash Brothers canceled, mass suicides ensue"!
@nxp3: Every time I've ever seen a double-post, it's deleted within a couple hours. Kotaku is pretty good for that kinda thing, especially considering how many writers they have posting stuff all through the night, etc.
I have some idea why it's hard to keep up... don't you guys get paid per x amount of page views?
I actually think that's a cool merit-based design, but it also means getting posts like "Beatles or Stones?" that'll generate a lot of passionate opinions but relates to gaming only by the thinnest of tangents.
I have to say though that I'd heard the site accused of running sensationalist headlines but I find they're usually pretty factual, just funny to read the way they're written.
For those who don't have the time or dedication to keep up with all the posts on Kotaku, this added functionality is a god-send...
For real Kotaku otaku's like me, who read every post, it will be useful when we want to refer to a past post when commenting, as well as for future Kotaku krazy kontests...
@fuchikoma: There's an anecdote I've heard about chess master Bobby Fischer.
He was at some chess group meeting or club and the other members were avidly discussing some important current event of the moment. He put up with this for a few minutes before testily interrupting: "What the hell does any of this have to do with chess?!?"
Bobby Fischer died recently, crazy, broke, and not playing chess anymore. Thoroughly discredited, his only remaining mourners were his wife, Dick Cavett, and Iceland.
The moral of the story: 5% variety in one's diet never killed anybody.
@Campion:
Haha... true. Not complaining either. I'm just saying when I see some of the stories on here they could only have been made to generate views for the editor.
But I think Kotaku's personality is one of the major reasons so many people come here instead of a big corp. site with just the facts.
Way to pat yourself on the back!
one day, i will decipher the evil magic that is RSS feeds. one day.
i prefer to just read every post. its my livelihood!
I use www.eatthenews.com it lets me check out the headlines, expand to see more of the story, eat the feed if I am really interested, or skip it all together if I'm not... its really handy.
@Brian Crecente: Thanks, that is a handy thing for discussions :D
>o> I dont want to be missing on anything. xD so I use the full RSS thingy or that =D
Nonetheless, go kotaku!!!
I thank the night crew. For when I am awake I refresh my rss ALOT and its nice to see Kotaku updated :P
I tend to skip most of the articles that I'm not directly interested in. Unless I'm real bored.
@fuchikoma: Honestly, that's why I love Kotaku. Each writer injects some personality in every headline and tag, which makes viewing Kotaku that much more enjoyable.
that link just pwned my firefox
=/
oh, right, i meant to say owned
Thats for that guys! :D How very nifty.
Although after reading the article heading "How to selectively read Kotaku", I had thought this post would let us know how to cut out those posts we're not interested in :/. I vaguely remember you can do it at Giz for Apple-related stuff, etc, but I can't remember how.. Perhaps a reminder of that is also in order!
@Brian Crecente: Comment on How to Selectively Read Kotaku Hi Brian, i found an image of a gun with a sucker. Can i use this for the header of a private blog?? Thank You! Thomas -- Thomas Schindler .
