More Mafia 2 screens! Yes, that exclamation point was meant to be there. Mafia (at least on PC) was fantastic. Sure, it had a few problems (ie the cars), but that's what video game sequels are for, right? So if the first one was a flawed masterpiece, here's hoping this one's just a straight-up masterpiece.

Wow the game looks great. If they nail the driving system and get rid of crap like races , this will be a must buy.
Man Im so looking foward to this game since I loved the story + characters in the first one.
But must agree, no more fucking races please. That was the only thing I HATED in the first game.
Mafia was the best GTA there was. I hope this one will be a worthy successor.
I kept forgetting about the stop lights and man did the cops chase me so lol.
Good times indeed!
Mafia was (and still is) one of better sandbox games developed. But the driving bits were weak...
This looks great though, it will definitely live up to the original.
I liked Mafia but not as much as most people. The races were a pain in the backside and driving within the speed limit respecting the lights was really boring.
The action was awesome and the history was even better (I'm a sucker for mafia histories), but the game felt too linear sometimes. I remember being blown away by the facial models in that game so I hope the sequel will live it up in the graphics department too. Mafia 2 will definitely be on my must buy list.
This is for PC and console, you thinks?
That would be neat. I never got a chance to play the first Mafia.
The original was brilliant. So many flawless set pieces. It was a masterpiece. Sure the race was a blot on the manuscript of its genius but The Godfather series didn't end at 2 either. :-D
Gief. Nao.
I want this game badly, but even some more info would do it. Telling from the screenshots, the game already has the charm of the original MAFIA. It fits perfectly.
Keep an eye on this one boys, it's gotta be good.
Also from the pics you can deduce that it will be slightly more modern than its predecessor possibly being set in the era that the first game ends in 50s/60s. I'm talking about the final cutscene, the original doesn't play through the decades for those who haven't tried it. :-)
Sorry I couldn't resist :P
half not safe

Also: [kotaku.com] looks incredibly like a corner from the first MAFIA, right outside the hideout, driving downwards. Um...yea I memorized it.
It really looks similar because of the bridge and all. Pretty cool.
What was wrong with the cars? Racing level aside, I think the attempt to simulate period cars was part of its charm.
check out the license plate on the car
@Acunia: That was so wrong... I lol'd.
@Lokno: I liked the cars, but I hated when right at the end of a mission the car would get stuck on the tunnel (north of Salieri's) because it didn't have enough horsepower to go uphill at the tunnel exit.
If them ain't bullshots, then it looks better than GTA IV.
I'm really happy that this game takes place in the 50's. Can't wait to see those vintage Caddys. Hopefully the next one will be in the 70s for some American Gangster/Goodfellas type scenarios.
Mafia > GTA
mafia was pretty cool as i remember it, although the driving was AWFUL. I remember thinking 'ah a race car mission i can finally drive quickly!'; how very, very wrong i was...
realism is cool and all but the cars in mafia were a little too realistic for my liking.
@Tuxy79:
Gangsters > Gangstas
This looks really interesting.
I hope that guy wearing the red floral, under the brown leather jacket, is going to keep it that, and not change to paisley and blond hair - because that's my character design!
Can't wait for this one either. Mafia was totally one of my all time favorites on PC. I picked it up again a year or two ago from a CompUSA bargain rack for like $5. It felt like stealing. If this sequel is half as good as the original, we're in for a treat.
I'm really looking forward to this even though i never got to finish the first mafia due to bad targeting and yes the races were crap but i loved having to stay in the rules, not driving too fast and not running red lights. And don't forget running out of gas! I laughed my head off first time that happend.
I loved Mafia. I had my gamepad hooked up to my PC and would pick it up the minute I jumped into my car to make driveing easier.
I'll never forget having to go 'teach' those guys, that messed with Salieri's daughter, a lesson. With a baseball bats. You couldn't fire a gun or you would alert the target bad guy far in the back of the complex. God Pauly died 12 times in a row in that one! Frustrating.
Wouldn't it be great if one of the missions in the sequel is you enacting the events at the end of the first? That would dovetail nicely and be a good nod to the fans. Oh and I'm totally stoked for this!
@Acunia: The best part is how the guy's bottom lip twitches.
@NunianVonFuch: That's a fantastic idea, I know I'd wet my pants if they did that.
Fix the driving mechanics and ditch the races from the last game and you've told and shown me enough already. SOLD!
@NunianVonFuch: I will have a problem with that... i can't kill myself that way!
Oh boy, JT and Fox news could have a field day with that screen shot.
Mafia is still my favorite game of all time. I absolutely loved the story. The only bad part was the driving but I still loved that game.
@TKoTD: But if you're going to be in the Mafia properly you'll have to, it could be one of the first missions as its not like he's well protected or anything. Pretty easy hit, however stylish/classy/shocking it is.
LOL thank god for the Mob's free dental plan.
Mafia for the PC will always retain its place as one of my top 5 most favorite of all games every created. Truly an epic.
if number two changes a few things for the Better than thats another title added.
I'm kinda surprised to see how many people agree that Mafia was one of the best games ever made. But it's true, the story and all cinematic elements are fantastic and it has the perfect mix of driving and shooting.
This is a day one purchase for me, regardless of further details/hype.
Mafia is one of the most underrated games ever. These screenshots make me want to go back and play it. I actually didn't mind the slow cars, but I can understand that being a point of contention for most people. Yes, the races sucked, but I honestly can't remember them. Obeying traffic laws grounded the game in reality.
It was flawed, but not the the extent where it stopped being a masterpiece.
@MURDERFACE: Dat's how me mudda taut me ta floss, Chancey.
looks great.
@Acunia:
hahahaha!
This game is a must buy, hands down (so I guess I'll be carrying it home between my teeth)
was another mafia game I remember playing. I can't remember the name of it (was on PC). was released about 3 years ago now.
This game looks good.
@HurricaneDave: Oh man I sure did hate those races. That's the only thing that made me hate the game, that and the damn long ass load times going between the sectors.
This was a great game.
Mafia Xbox was fun.
