If losing weight balance training isn't your thing, and you find the idea of skiing fundamentally abhorrent, THQ might have a Wii Balance Boarding alternative for you: All-Star Cheerleading, a game they've got in development for the Wii. THQ boss Brian Farrell, speaking today at the Morgan Stanley Tech Conference, says it's "going right after girls", but I think he's underestimating the number of 20-something guys who own a copy of Bring It On.

LOL I plan on getting the board and Wii Fit and that, but I think I'll pass here.
Isn't there a round in 'Whose Line is it Anyway?' where they have to do as many things as possible with a useless prop?
thanks a lot, nintendo.
-_-
They should totally make a snowboarding game to go with the balance board.
Eliza Dushku is hotness
@BOMxAgonyxScenex: Agreed. Please post pictures of her daily, Kotaku dudes.
She's the only reason to own Bring It On, I guess.
>_>
An "I love you Eliza Dushku" tag? How much use will that get?
Will Wii shovel ware ever stop?
The first bring it on was actually a good movie.The rest, eh not so much.
@BOMxAgonyxScenex:
What's an Eliza Dukshu?
I'm a twenty-something guy, but if I want to get my cheerleading fix, I'll stick with Ouendan and Ouendan 2, thank you.
@mikeluisortega: DId PS2 shovelware ever ended?...
Do you have to be stupid to play the game well or just to buy the game in the first place?
@TOCATL: Yea it's all gone to the Wii
@Aflack: Likes slushies: They are all worthy of Oscars, if you turn the sound off. :P
vagina exercise? seems like a good idea.
didn't a girl break her leg or twisted it while playing the wii?
@ShaggE: I would agree except the recent stars have all been underage and I would just feel like a creep. What happened to the days when a 20 year old would play a highschool aged kid?
be aggressive! b-e aggressive! b-e a-g-g....
ok, ill stop now
@dexterr: A girl broke/twisted her leg while playing with a Wii?
Why does my mind make that sound so bad?
@Aflack: Likes slushies: Oh dear jeebus, I wasn't aware. Thank gods I stopped watching after skimming through part 1.
"Its all ready been broughten!"
This will take me right back to cheering in high school. We used to employ balance boards all the time. WAIT, NO WE DIDN'T. Wouldn't it make more sense to somehow use the Wiimote and Nunchuk as, like, pom-poms?
@rhinestonedarling: Or maybe I'm just overthinking this.
Twentysomething males who own copies of Bring It On made the purchase for all the wrong reasons....
No picking on the guys that own Bring It On, Luke. Everyone needs a sassy teen movie in the movie collections.
Luke, you have to change your line of work, Eliza likes pizza deliverymen.
As for the THQ's target demographic, they're better off aiming at a much younger female audience. Like the DS kind. Cheerleaders are all about bringin' it, nowadays.
My kid brother will be pretty pumped about this. He loves cheerleading for some reason.
@Americo: Picking on them? I AM one of them.
Eliza Dushku FTW. She was good in True Lies.
@cooler_d00d:
except that's it's THQ...
I hope other developers start to make games using the balance board as well, just not games like this.
@Erwin: Hopefully a lot more.
@Americo: :( I'm sad to admit I own 1-4... don't know why. But I do.
Clearly cheer-balancing is a much better use of this peripheral than skateboarding/surfing, hover-boarding, a Super Monkeyball variant, or an amusing platformer about a drunken, stumbling robot.
@MCWHAMMER: I agree as well.
*sigh* If only this post was maximum risky...
Somewhere out there, there's an EA producer salivating... cheerleader mini-game for Madden and NBA. It'll give the girlfriends something todo during play stoppages.
I sincerely hope that new tag up there sees frequent use here at Kotaku.
@Erwin: As much as humanly possible.
Heh - my buddies and I saw Bring it On in the theaters and once it came out on video - we all made purchases. Frickin love that movie.
@Luke Plunkett: You never cease to amaze me.
@ph15h: The first one is acceptable. The other three...? Not so much. Hot tears of shame for you.
Nintendo jus' bitch smacked everyone and said their fat!
Oh, it's been Broughten....
@mikeluisortega: No. Shovelware will dominate the Wii for all eternity.
@gusiskirby: Maybe you should click the link in the article. Namco Bandai is releasing We Ski (a.k.a. Family Ski).
And that's on top of the snowboarding and ski jumping mini-games already in Wii Fit.
@bigman88zz: Your my flavor...of the week.
Is it wrong that I really want it?
Cheerleading sounds less sedate than the Balance Board and I LOVE Bring it On >.>
@Erwin: In my world, a tag like that would get used a LOT.
