I told you he'd email us again! Luc Bernard is back with gameplay details for his upcoming WiiWare title Eternity's Child, including information on the little winged girl who recently joined our hero Angel in the screenshots. EC is an action platformer controlled using both the Wiimote and the nunchuk. Angel maneuvers the level using the nunchuk, while the Wiimote controls that little flying heart we've seen in all of the screenshots. Using said heart as a targeting device, the girl helps Angel out by shooting at enemies. As you can imagine, the mechanic lends itself well to co-op, with one player controlling Angel and the other sadistically letting him die over and over again while giggling. I need better gaming buddies. Keep your eyes peeled over the next couple of weeks, as Luc's email teases an impending gameplay trailer.

So...preeeeety.
That's about all I can say right now.
The game's design is interesting and I really dig it. But the gameplay is a ?
I don't really like the look of that winged monstrosity tbh... mechanic fish thing looks good though
Is it more goth or emo? I need somebody with more insight into both cultures to help me out here.
Anyway, Depending on what the gameplay is like, I may buy this in addition to the Little King once WiiWare hits in the US.
Kinda like a geometry wars platformer?
@namesRhard: I dunno, I find "it" kinda cute. Then again Im a bit off so.
Brilliant. More co-op games! Too many multiplayer games are versus mode only. I say more teaming up against the enemy :0
*advocates a return to Crystal Chronicles~*
I'm very excited about this.
Shame this isn't coming to Xbox 360 anymore. I would buy it in a heartbeat. I wish him best of luck on his DS game idea as well. Games like this make me happy to be a gamer.
@SpishackCola: As to the style, it looks to lean heavily on goth design but really it seems to be in line with European fairy tale like the Brothers Grimm and the like which is where modern Goth style really comes from as well so yeah, IMO, it's a gothic style approach with a dash of the whimsical. Really lovin the artstyle.
Graphic style sorta reminds me of an old N64 title called Mischief Makers. I might be high though...
I think it looks great. Wonder how it looks in motion. Wouldn't mind getting this if it's good.
those two characters on the right are utterly unoriginal and irritating to look at
This game is looking great, can't wait to play it myself.
sin and punishment, a previously japan only n64 game, is on VC on wii and it controls similarly. Of course you have to use the analogue stick instead of the pointer, but its such a mind bending experience. Getting used to moving your player and your cursor independantly is crazy hard, but is so rewarding once you get the hang of it.
Hopefully this game will keep the pretty art style but have wicked hard gameplay. MMmmmm bullet hell....
@BenignMuffin: If it plays one-third as well as Mischief Makers, then we should all be very happy pandas.
@BenignMuffin: mischeif makers! i loved that game! I had completely forgot it existed lol
@MrSoursop: hey, just cause YOU can't draw...
Hope you can change the size of that heart.. seems a bit screen whelming..
Looks extremely awesome to say the least.
oh man, cant wait for this :D
@Phazonmasher:
Ahh, thanks for the explanation Phazon. I saw people that were either or back in high school (didn't associate with them much, but I wasn't one of the jerks who felt the need to harass them for 4 years), but they kinda wore the same garb so it was difficult to tell. I thought it looked more goth, but I didn't want to make that presumption fully without some kind of backup to it.
@kwant: I too loved Mischief Makers, although the last time I played it was I 12, I think. Nostalgia could be tainting my memory. Crazy bosses, though.
i must be missing something, because that game looks like shit. aesthetically that is. horrible, horrible design.
This looks utterly great! Artwize it looks fun and outerworldly enough for me to become truly engage with it!
The whole 2-man thing is great. I remember the most fun I had with my Wii (with the "geek"-crowd amongst my friends) was when 3 of us sat down, and played 3 man mario. Man, trying to control mario with 2 pointers gunning star-bits all over the screen can be hard. It should be noted that these sorta things don't usually catch non-gamers quite as much as Wii sports (imho). It just isn't as easy to pick up, as say Wii sports :)
I'll end up buying this just to stare at the beautiful art. I really was under the impression that these Wii Ware games were going to be an aesthetic mess, until I saw this and Final Fantasy.
@thejakeman: probably disagrees with you: so what if i can't draw? doesnt change the fact the characters look like theyre straight out of a really fucking awful web comic.
@MrSoursop: Excellent use of profanity to turn your opinion into unassailable fact. Bravo.
oh, excuse my F-word :) I meant Fracking
@Fnor: It doesn't turn it into fact, it just signals the immanent presence of unassailable fact.
Fish on the left, yes. Things on the right, no.
The problem I have with it is that it looks rigid. Paper-cutout style. I tend to prefer alien hominid or metal gear awesome style animation. Assuming you're going to be using flash.
Art doesn't make the game, I kinda agree with soursop. If we want the goth/emo route I'd love to see Johnny the Homicidal Maniac brought to a console.
looking better and better! hooray for the wii choice!
WiiWare can not come soon enough for me.
I saw a video of this game in motion and it looked really bad...in the gameplay department, I mean. This was before they announced that flying companion thing though.
Still, the game moved really slow and clunky, and the collision detection looked absolutely horrendous. I guess we'll see, though. If it plays well, I'll definitely get it. Especially at 5 freaking dollars.
I'm going to cop it, 5 bucks isn't bad it's worth it for the art, which I think looks amazing
@dowingba:
Thats probably because it was still in development.
I recently played the Half Life 2 beta, and compared to the final product its pretty awful.
@Lijik: I understand that, that's why I wrote the rest of the paragraph. If they decided to show off a portion of the game, that's their problem. I'm gonna judge it as I see fit.
It's like people defending those early GTA4 screens that Rockstar purposely released to the public a while back. They looked like shit, but people were like "dude it's just a bad angle" etc. Well then why did Rockstar choose to show us that angle? Are the other angles even worse?!
whoa, cool.
@dowingba: Early screenshots / trailers of a game aren't so much there to show off its prettiness so much as to assure the public that it is in development and that it is not vaporware (unlike Sadness, for example, which has no game trailer to its name).
@dowingba
that video was from an early xboxlive version, which has then has been overhauled quite a bit (main-char style and gameplay atleast)
This game looks beautiful.
I want to download this the day it comes out.
