Check out the trailer to the upcoming game. Complete with mock-serious voiceover guy, a tight-rope waddling Penguin and Vicki Vale. Actually I have no idea if Vicki Vale is in it - those LEGOs all look the same to me - but couldn't pass on her very lovely image.
Hit the jump & check it out.

Was that Commissioner Gordon or Mr. Feeney?
Who the fuck is Drew?!! It's Brian's black-sheep older brother who sleeps on the rec room couch and never did anything with his life so Mama Crecente pressured Brian into giving him a job at Kotaku, but he doesn't do anything except play games, make obscene jokes and oogle at Maggie Green's boobs.
@Redface, The Dark Messiah of Justice: Sorta like Chad Vader.
I'm already starting to like your picture choices Drew ;)
oh and this reminded me of a Lego version of the Dark Night trailer:

I've never understood the allure of these LEGO games, but LEGO Catwoman sashaying around like that is hilarious.
All right, you got me. I'm sold.
Curse my fascination with LEGO'd franchises!
@Drew:
Hi! :)
I wonder why there is a LEGO Killer Croc. Up until the first in-game-shot of him I thought I was more or less the only person that knew this character at all. o.0;
This game looks just as great as Lego Star Wars.
Hello Drew, nice to meet you.
This does look great.
@Redface, The Dark Messiah of Justice:
Awww, I want a job at Kotaku...
anyway, this game looks all kinds of awesome. I love Batman, and I semi-enjoyed Lego's as a kid, so this is a perfect mix.
Nice Batdance joke Drew! Welcome back, too.
This game is just made of WIN!
Stop the presses, who is that?

The Lego Star Wars games never interested me..but this and Lego Indiana Jones look pretty amazing.
Lego Batman and Lego Indiana Jones look awesome, I can't wait to pick them both up.
damn it, now i am gunna be singing about vicki vale all day long, thanks alot drew! lol
anyway... i am pumped for this game! anything batman gets my motor goin, especially when harley quinn is involved. (lego's unfortunately just don't do he justice)
@HawaiianActor: sorry for the double post, just wanted to edit that to *HER*...
@Gouki4u: You just answered your own question.
i wish the environment was made of legos.
HOW DARE YOU MOON ME JOKER! I WILL BUY THIS GAME MERELY TO KICK YOUR ASS!
Shit...that advertisement worked. D:
But... I don't want to wait until September.
Is there going to be a proper post introducing Drew? Some of us weren't here when Kotaku started.
Why does this game look awesome? However, I wish the backgrounds were also lego.
I love the Catwoman sultry walk. XD
@FranUnFine: Everyone else just went "WTF is the Lizard doing in there?"
@FranUnFine:
Aw, c'mon, he's got one of the greatest lines in the Animated Series (though, really, it's just Batman in that episode):
"I THREW A ROCK AT HIM!"
@FranUnFine: I love killer croc glad to see that he will be in this game. Also glad that this will be on 360 and Wii I can't wait to play it!!
@FranUnFine: who doesn't know about killer croc?
Why are the Lego games 10x better than real games?
Killer Cros makes all the more sense considering he will be in the Batman: Gotham Knight anime project.
Also, I don't think he is a particularly obscure character given his regular appearances in the comics and animated series over the years.
@DarkHogosha: That line (and by extension the entire episode) was awesome.
@wallapuctus: It's because you don't expect much from a LEGO game. If these were regular games with the same mechanics, people would trash it. Because it's a LEGO game people let it slide.
@justhesh: *Boy Meets World high five!*
Why did I watch that? Now I HAVE to go buy it.
Just don't make a LEGO Justice League, and things might be okay.
@SilentPredator: Anyone who had played a lego game wouldn't say that.
So awesome.
@VioletArrows: ABSOLUTELY make a Lego Justice League.
Hi Drew, welcome to the Kotaku Tower
I've only ever read one Batman comic in my life, and I'm still getting this....
Because Lego makes anything good.
Shit if they made Lego Crazy Frog I would buy it
I wonder when they say the "everybody" has escaped it includes clayface,bane,ivy and hush? is there a list of characters floating around? I do hope it includes some of the more modern additions like Harley. Hmm maybe Zsasz might not make an appearance. It would be great if they allowed the characters unlocked in the Lego starwars games to be included but that would be just too awesome for anybody to deal with.
Now all I have to do is resist the temptation to kill Robin over and over and over and over...........
Why is the announcer that does all the GameTap game promotions in this trailer? Anyway, the game looks great! I might have to rent this & Lego Indiana Jones! Families(mostly parents) are going to eat this thing up!!
I swear I'm a slave to these Lego games. First Star Wars, next Indiana Jones, and finally Batman...What's next, Lego Matrix???
@acez2087: There is no brick.
Damn, this looks so awesome. Lol @ kissy kissy Catwoman and Robin going 'Eww, girls!'. For a family-friendly franchise, the Lego games have a pretty anarchic sense of humour.
@Sabre_Justice: Okay, no more long name.:
I beg to differ!
[en.wikipedia.org]
Needs Ra's Al Ghul.
Next up it's Lego Star Wars!!!1!1 Oh wait...
@dawimp523:
Well Gametap=Turner=WB=Time Warner
Batman=DC Comics=WB=Time Warner
ROFLMAO, also watching the other legobatman vids, he always keeps a straight face, this game is epic win
needs moar b00bs. hell, life in general needs moar b00bs. >_>
This looks totally sweet.
@Gouki4u:
Weirder yet were some of the "actions" they built into LEGO Star Wars 2. If you played as Slave Leia and pushed the Force button, she'd do a little belly dance routine. Gammorrean guards would start doing an air guitar routine with their axes, and if you tried to attack anything with Lando when he was standing next to Leia, he'd lean her back and start kissing her.
@FranUnFine:
He featured quite prominently in Batman: The Animated Series 15 years ago, and he was released in the first wave of LEGO Batman sets. In fact, so far the only villain I've seen in any of the pre-release material that you can't buy is Harley Quinn, and she's due out this summer. Gordon and the cops aren't stock minifigs either, but they appear to be more or less buildable using stock parts (Gordon might need a different color jacket to get the tie and badge combo, and I didn't really catch the design on the cop torsos).
@RRRansom:
I think you already missed it. Drew was mentioned when Crecente said Flynn was vacating the weekend post.
@Weirdwolf:
Clayface and Hush haven't been produced as minifigs, so I'd give them fairly slim odds of showing up. Ivy came out in the Arkham set, and Bane was in the recent Bat-Tank set, so they're a lot more likely. So far the villains that they've alrady got designs for include Catwoman, Croc, Two-Face (and goons), Joker (and goons), Penguin (and penguins), Mr. Freeze (and goons), Riddler, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, Bane, and Harley Quinn. For any other villains, they'd need to get The LEGO Company to release official designs or risk having them not match if they ever use them in actual sets.
As for the Star Wars crossover, I wouldn't be shocked if they let you unlock a character or two, but this game will likely have several different game mechanics that weren't available in the LSW trio, and the same would hold for the LIJ game. While Freeplay mode will automatically make sure you have at least one character with every skill package that you've unlocked, they'd have to code in all the game mechanics from any previously used properties every time they add a new one to the library.
@GARlock:
Not an official minifig yet (if ever), but at least this time they wouldn't be able to mispronounce his name like Liam Neeson did.
I agree this looks awesome, but it's weird how all the characters have to have the same size body proportions. I uderstand that's how Lego people are, but still... Batman, Robin, Harley, and Killer Croc all the same size? Gonna take some getting used to.
That said, I haven't purchased a Batman game since Konami's Batman Returns on SNES, but that's sure to change once September rolls around.
"those LEGOs all look the same to me"
Kotaku is racist against lego people!
@Number41:
Does this make you happier (sure, it's a custom design, but I based it on the scale of his B:TAS incarnation)? Oh yeah, and Penguin has shorty legs, but the drawback is that they're not articulated.
I hope Mr. Freeze, Two Face, Poison Ivy, and Clay Face are in it.
I honestly think they should take existing game franchises and make them into Lego games. Lego Tomb Raider woul
