After having played Devil May Cry, I wrote off God of War for a long time...until my friend made me play it. I fell in love. I'll be at my Gamestop this coming week when the shipment arrives for GOW:COO, and as soon as any real information comes out about GOW3, I'll be there.

Damn. I sadly still haven't touched the first two games. I guess Summer will be the time I catch up on all the games I missed. Hopefully there aren't too many great releases in that time frame.

I'd expect they mean we'll see a trailer for God of War III at E3 2008.

At least no one can bitch about a Xbox port of this game.

I have both... The 360 is only a bad purchase when you RROD and you go through the hassle of sending it to Microsoft, only to get it back with your content erased or whatnot.

Even then, atleast it still plays Halo 3 & Gears. Oh and Bioshock is a pretty good exclusive, and I still can't wait to check out Mass Effect...

Thank God mine hasn't RROD'ed yet. To be honest though, I play my PS3 more often, just because little signs here and there hint that my 360 is just about near the end of its lifespan.

Yea like "Home" was supposed to come out in October of '07, so too will GOW in early '08. Soon to Sony is different than the rest of the world. Don't anybody get your hopes up...But it would be nice.

according to wikipedia, cory barlog said the game was already in development at a gow2 launch event, i suppose they could've easily started the concept stage and had a separate sony studio working on an engine, leaving Santa Monica to start work on the game itself straight away. late 2009 would be more likely would i wouldn't be suprised if they managed to get it out around christmas or spring 2009.

hopefully though they'll have less of those infuriating "pull the crank while the spikes close in and you're attacked by infinitely respawning enemies" sections. i love gow2 but i still haven't finished it a year on because i can't stand those sections and i just die over and over again.

I hope God of War 3 is as cinematic as Heavenly Sword. Despite the game's simpler combat mechanics and shorter length, I still had a blast. The cutscenes were always far more impressive than anything in GoW and so far from what I've seen in GoW2 (I'm only about halfway through it).

Personally, I think the GoW storyline is so f'ed up, it's hard to watch a cutscene without chuckling or shaking my head in shame.

I'll be honest, it was G.o.W.2 that made me actually play my PS2 after ignoring it for a good long while, and there are SCANT few games that make me drool on the PS3 that aren't available on the 360. That said, I still wound up buying a PS3 (60gb, used, for about $350) because each system has its strong points: My partner and I use the PS3 for our DVD/BluRay viewing, the 360 for watching fansubs and DL content (handles that content more readily than the PS3 lately), I also LOVE my 360 for Rock Band (and PS3 users seem to get the shaft with that title), and I even have a Wii for my Zelda/Metroid/Etc fix.

All in all I think people should own all three consoles IF POSSIBLE. My PS3 and 360 don't snarl and hiss at each other in the entertainment unit, neither one prevents the other from working... I don't understand why people MUST pick sides... *shrug*

Mind you... I'd never pay full PRICE for a Sony product, but that's because they hyper-inflate their prices on just about EVERYTHING they make, PS3 being no exception here. Even my partner (who isn't a gamer) thinks the PS3 has it's merits despite the very 'ouch' pricetag associated with it... ;)

I haven't played the second one yet, but I may have to pick it up.

Don't have a PSP, so that one is gonna have to wait.

Imo people that say i have both but my ps3 is gathering dust etc etc are full of bs...

If u got the 360 when it came out have all the multis on it(rainbow six,cod4..) and get a ps3 to just play rachet/heavenly sword i guess thats normal.

But if ur primary console is the ps3 and u get cod4 ut3
and rachet/uncharted with warhawk etc and u go get the 360 to finish bioshock it's the same situation..Just the 360 came first and some have now their most games on it...Early adopters always suffer

I dunno. I've always found the God of War series kinda "meh". I tried 1 and 2 on the PS2, but they weren't my discs and it never grabbed me. Then I got the demo UMD from Playstation Underground and played it a few times, but again, more "meh". Maybe it's just not my style of action game...

Too many GoW games are being released. There should be atleast a 2 year gap between the new PSP release and the PS3 release so that the franchise doesn't burn out and the team is full of fresh ideas.

After getting the demo for GoW2 and playing it more than 50 times, I never gave GoW2 a shot. I got past the colossus and gave up.

The first one was so good.

I can't wait for the opening moments of God of War 3. I hope you get to keep all the moves this time from start and you just add on from there.

I am very skeptical of it coming out in 2008. Since every GOW game has been released in March, I'm betting March 2009 as the drop date. I'm sure E3 this year will reveal a jaw-dropping trailer.

@zztopp: God of War for PSP isn't even made by the same team. Barlog and the Santa Monica team have probably been working nonstop on GoW 3 since GoW 2 was completed.

@WolfGod: Nah, you'll probably start with all the moves that you ended 2 with, and then you'll likely lose them all due to some circumstance and have to start from a lowly mortal again.

Playstation has good enough games for any ps3 owner to be hapy for the rest of the year already. And considering that I'm already backed up with games from last year, I've got some work to do.

After how amazing God of War II was, I'm really waiting for III.

@steliosco: I agree to a certain extent, if they're saying it out of jest. But someone like me who has a 360,Wii,Ds,and PSP(PS3 soon) while working 2 jobs, if I say that one system is collecting dust, it's due to time contstraints. That and I don't care for more than a couple of games on my wii.
@CONFUSEDgam3r: Those announcements are great. My point to the guy though was that I was curious as to this week suprising him. Everything that has been announced has been in the works for a while. Unless he bought a launch 360, I don't know why he would choose a 360 if those things were so important to him.

On topic: As with most good games, I do not expect it to release anytime soon, or even on whatever date they first target. Just like I don't expect Alan Wake or Gears of War2 to hit this year. Anticipating games has made me jaded to this part of the industry, as delays and street dates annoy me.
