The downloadable media service for the DS, originally set to be released in Japan this March, will be pushed back by a month into April. AM3, the company that will be providing the service dubbed DSVision, says that they've run into some challenges with the system's hardware, namely the adapter designed to accommodate a special min SD card in the DS card slot. Content providers want to see more save functionality with the adapter, according to AM3, which has lead to the delay while AM3 adds features. When the service eventually does become available, it'll provide content like videos and music, although no specific details yet on what that will entail.

Problems? Fuck that. R4 is where it's at.
hardware problems? so howcome the people that make the R4 or the M3 DS card make their rom cards without issues?
Delayed? But R4 is already out!
That looks like an R4, only I'd be wary of the MicroSD coming through the side.
@y2julio:
Yarrg! Ahoy thar seadog.
@y2julio: I imagine the problem is more of them doing all they can to ensure people don't turn it into some sort of R4 type device.
Loading it from the side is fucking retarded. You have to pull the cartridge out to put the DS in like that. Do it like the R4, SuperCard DS(ONE), Cyclos DS, etc. etc.
*put the SD in
google libfat
@y2julio: yar, such bootleggery, its shameful.
*loads R4*
I wanted to try out that Pocket Physics game on my DS, but finding an R4 and going through all that shenanigans seems like quite a deal. I've only checked a few places, but R4's are hard to come by. Ideas?
@Luis: Get a CylcoDS Evo or an M3 Simply. They aren't that much different.
@Luis: if there aren't any R4's around, search for "M3 Simply", it's the same thing.
R4 FTW. =p
@Luis: Not sure what shenanigans you're referring to, but after acquiring the actual device it's really easy to use (you have to copy a couple files over the first time and then you just copy any programs/homebrew over to the MicroSD card).
I've got an R4 and it works great (Colors is a really neat program, and I'm currently working on a DS version of Desktop Tower Defense)
*hugs his R4*
@Dr.Chocobo: @ndsOtaku: Thanks!
@DankPanties
Really classy avatar/handle you got there. You must be a hit with the real-life ladies.
*does not have an R4*
*has a slot 2 device*
*is behind the times*
Would be interesting if Nintendo would have to pay the R4 people for this idea like Sony had to do with the people that created the rumble in order to release the dual shock 3.
I don't know, but this looks too much like an R4 so I think that the '90%' of R4 users might not try it out.
@Masterpain22: The idea of a slot loader is nothing new.
You know what would've been a better idea?
They could just stop being idiots, admiting they are copying the R4, and even making some sort of partnership with the company that did it.
That would solve the hardware problems, and they wouldn't look so dumb for placing the microSD port on a place that will make it work worse than an R4.
%50 useless.
who wants to bet they are trying to put some secure DRM on it?
meh.
then again maybe they are just ramping up the system specs to allow SDHC cards?
hello,
I have had a look at the Nintendo DS lite Hardware (Wi-fi part) and it is possible to download content using Wi-fi to the slot 1, so this gives me a idea, dsvision should release the AM3 hardware with the ability to be used as a DS-ware (similar to the Wii-ware channel that the Wii has) so that companies can release more games and mini game content without the cost of publishing and marketing this well help the DS platform vastly in my opinion and small companies can release games without the expansive cost.
This can be easily done by a simple firmware update since the hardware has already been released.
If only I knew Japanese then I would have emailed www.dsvision.jp with my idea that I posted above, you never know they might consider it.
