What a glorious console age we've entered, when individual tracks from Rock Band get their own patched releases. It's all for the best, though, as they're merely minor fixes that aren't treating game killing bugs, just addressing incorrect meta information. In the case of "Limelight", the new version fixes a sound issue. It's all dry stuff, but here are the tunes that will need a new downloading.
- "Can't Stand Losing You" by the Police
- "Roxanne" by the Police
- "Synchronicity II" by the Police
- "Police Pack 01" by the Police
- "Brass in Pocket" by the Pretenders
- "Limelight" (as made famous) by Rush
The new versions are already up for Xbox 360 types, with PlayStation 3 owners getting their fixed tracks on Thursday. Enjoy!

I own every single one of those. Hmm.
Oh well, wish more people had DLC for this game.
I just wish GH III had consistent DLC. The disparity is honestly kind of ridiculous.
I didn't know there was a song of Rush available for Rock Band ! Gotta buy Rock Band quick to rock like a true Canadian !
And magically, there is no Police 01 pack anymore on Xbox Live Marketplace.
@Shteve: Theres tons of Rush. Its great stuff.
@Shteve: There are three Rush songs on Rock Band.
"Tom Sawyer" is on the disc and "Limelight" & "Working Man" are available as DLC.
But be warned, they are all covers.
Those aren't sound issues, The Police just suck.
Hmm, does this count against the 5 downloads you get for your PSN purchases? I hope not.
@AnEternalEnigma: Yep, we all got screwed. Pretty funny joke, I went to delete the Police pack, and when I went to re-download, the listing was gone. Also GONE is the pack from my download list. I already posted on Major Nelson's blog and the Harmonix forum, but there's not a peep from anyone..
wow, ok note to self, do not remove the police stuff and redownload yet. Thanks for the heads up gold5
@Bissrok:
Are you serious? They're fantastic musicians. Maybe you don't care for the music but I think it's more than a stretch to claim any of the members lacks talent.
@Shteve: There are 3 songs by rush so far: Tom Sawyer, Working Man, and Limelight
And I didn't notice anything in any of these songs that needed to be fixed.
@Ulquiorra: Oh, guess someone already said that. nevermind.... 0_o
omg ps3 news overload!
oh, wait
I don't care because WE STILL DON'T HAVE ROCK BAND IN AUSTRALIA! Will you lot stop buying instruments so they can stockpile enough to ship over here??
From the 360 instructions on re-downloading the tracks: "Navigate to the System Blade ( purple ), select memory, all devices, games, Rock Band, search for any of the listed songs (right trigger is a page down ), select the song with the A button, and then select Delete. Now either re-download from marketplace, or from the download history."
Is that as obnoxious as it sounds, 360 owners?
FWIW, I deleted and redownloaded the Police pack earlier today with no problem. Though I did have a little trouble finding it since it's actually "The Police Pack." And make sure you're not looking in the recent content area, you need to check the full listing (it should be near the bottom).
There can be only one explanation: Rock Band became self aware and realized it would prefer Oysterhead over the Police and Geddy Lee's voice was just too much for the mute button to handle. The Pretenders mix up was simply faulty programming.
@StocDred: Obnoxious? It's pretty simple. I love having the option to delete downloaded tracks individually.
By the way, I never noticed any sound problems with those songs. Can anyone clarify?
@Narynan:
God I know. I'm so sick (lolol get it) of loading up a multiplayer online match only to see that no one owns a single dlc song, including the stuff that was only $1. I mean come ON. I'd be really bored of the game without the dlc but with it, I've still got lots of stuff to do.
So... does anyone know what they were patching for? 'Cause, like, the Police pack seemed fine to me, and lord knows I played it a *lot*.
I'm impressed that they're patching content that, gosh, looked fine to me, but does anyone know what's being fixed?
Oh I should just check RB forums derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Incorrect genre tags, in case you, like me, are too dumb to check the forums when you have a question...
@Narynan:
Me too! I might just have to redownload these.....
That's all well and good... But where's my NIN pack?!
@cio: On Marketplace. Like, right now.
*cries at lack of DLC in australia* ... though I suppose I shouldn't be too upset, considering I actually have a copy.
They need to patch El Scorcho too.
@Ulquiorra: Other than the singer's voice, you mean? I bought them, of course. But that is NOT even close to Geddy Lee.
Did they apply a patch to the Police songs to make singing the notes in tune unnecessary to get 100%? Such realism. They should apply the same patch to all the Oasis songs too.
@Erwin: that's weird.. It still says Garbage, Stone Temple Pilots and Weezer on mine. I'm in Canada though, maybe there's a delay?
@cio: Possibly, because I first saw them today. Or I'm hallucinating.
I got the NIN about 2am this morning. Fuck it's awesome. March of the Pigs = most fun drum part in all of Rock Band.
@dowingba: I'd agree about MotP, if I could actually DO the damn thing. :-D
@Shteve: not so fast there, the track isn't rush, it's some other band covering rush - and the vocals are hor-en-dous.
Dammit, when are they going to add a patch for crowd sing-alongs in DLC?
Damn it whats Rock Band? we only just got Guitar hero 1 in the UK, grrrr
@That Fuzzy Bastard: That's what needed patching? Wow, nice to see a company so anal about its DLC. Oh, and actually putting out DLC on a regular basis.
@mind in rewind: I know that for "Limelight" you just couldn't turn down the annoying vocal track when playing singer.
Not sure what the problem is with "Roxanne", the only other track I have from that list.
@seafisch
Yeah, it is really impressive that they patched such a minor problem on one of the first DLC packs released. Only furthering my conviction that Harmonix are the coolest developers ever, and that once Rock Band comes out in a guitar-only pack, they will cheerfully stomp on GH's face, Boston-style. On the other hand, GH seems to have a lot more mindshare for people who only buy one game a year, so maybe the bad will triumph. But let me keep my beautiful illusions.
The only problems are with the meta data to the tracks... when you sort by genre, some of the songs "disappear" from the list because they were not coded correctly. Simple as that.
None of the actual songs or notes of the songs were changed in any ways
@josh42042: Man it really annoys me how much people whine about covers these days. Did nobody play the original 2 Guitar Hero games? And if so, weren't you impressed by the covers? And haven't they only gotten better over the years?
Harmonix games have gone from: "Man I can't believe they pump out such great covers of all those songs." to "Fuck it's a cover song, damn Harmonix you lazy bastards!!!!!!"
The fact that almost every song in Rock Band is a master recording is something to be happy about. They couldn't use the master tracks of some stuff like Rush and old Black Sabbath because the different instruments (and the bass drum and snare) weren't separated properly. That's it. You won't ever get a master-version of Limelight so stop fucking complaining about it.
@dowingba: Unless the Rock Band juggernaut gets so big that bands go into the studio and re-record the songs themselves. (Well, the bands that can still do so)
Which would be awesome. But unlikely.
I am a huge rush fan (I own probably about 10 of their albums). I felt that the Rush covers in Rock Band are all top notch. I think they sound excellent. I am fairly picky as well. I was surprised at how well the guy could attempt Geddy's voice.
@Jazhuis: There are a few songs on Guitar Hero 3 that do just that. The Sex Pistols song for sure and I'm pretty sure the new Aerosmith download are both re-records by the bands.
I don't know what's up with "Cult of Personality" but the 2007 label for it just seems off since it quite obviously came out years ago. I'm guessing another re-record.
