An HD remake of Bionic Commando (Bionic Commando: Rearmed) is coming to PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade and PCs. But only one version will include the free bonus of fitting in your pocket. Bionic Commando will support Remote Play through the PS3, quite possibly making it the first third-party title to support the system's integrated service.
It's good news, and hopefully an important step in ensuring that Remote Play stops being news—and instead becomes part of the everyday experience of owning a PS3 and PSP. And then when we post stories on Remote Play, all of you can be like, "slow news day?" And we can be like, "Witz, please take him out back. But yes, thank-you for asking, it has been a slow news day. Our apologies."
'Bionic Commando: Rearmed' PS3 Will Run On PSPs Thanks To Remote Play [MTVmultiplayer]

Finnally more games with remote play. I was tired of playing the Japanese one with the cat..
Definitely a good match for remote play.
I love Remote Play to begin with, and finding out BC will support it?
I just pooped myself.
Really.
If only the remote play didn't lag as much and was somewhat useable =/
It's been a slow news day? Really? This has been one of the most news packed hours in a long time.
Higher textures offered by the PS3 version, PLUS remote play? SOLD!
Sony just let all kinda shit loose today huh? MGS release date, god of war psp, this is nice.
Also,
If every single screen shot ever released for SSBB is news, than so is this.
@P-Sheddy: Get a better wireless connection. :)
do the developers of Pixeljunk Monsters count as third-party? I've been playing that game a LOT just through remote play.
Hm, this does make Rearmed a bit more enticing though.
Well that's it. I'm getting the PS3 version and that's all there is to it. High res textures and now Remote Play? This may be the start of a new trend that could spell trouble for XBLA.
Bionic Commando on the crapper
@DragonSphere:
It absolutely counts.
That game...that game steals souls. I happily gave mine up a long time ago, and I haven't seen it since.
ok,this is getting crazy..Whats next?
GT5 next month on remote play?? Way to go Sony!!!
I'm impressed.
Wow, Sony is really dropping some nice info today.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! More reasons to use remote play this is gonna be crack. I want this game nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!
Someone explain the benefit of remote play again please...
@P-Sheddy: it's not Sony's fault your internet connection sucks.
Coming up next: in-game XMB!!! *sigh* A man can dream...
Sony's news patapon just went into fever mode it seems...
@Groodle: "If every single screen shot ever released for SSBB is news, than so is this."
Hey, in all fairness, those were mostly panty shots.
It's PS3/P day here at Kotaku I guess. Keep it coming ;)
Man, sony is really blowing my mind out with all the news that has been announced. Now if they announce in-game XMB, then i'm gonna get a heart attack.
@DragonSphere: "do the developers of Pixeljunk Monsters count as third-party?"
3rd party devs, but it's Sony published. So not fully 3rd party.
@eastx: It let's you stream games and movies that are on your PS3 to your PSP. So, if your GF wants to watch Dexter, and you want to play Monsters, you both can be happy. Pro Tip: All your old PS1 discs can RemotePlay, ergo, all PS1 games are portable if you have a PS3, PSP and a hotspot.
And don't forget that the mentally retarded 150MB XBL Arcade restrictions that will gimp this and SF2THDR.
With all this great PS3 news, I can't wait until June to pick up the MGS4 80BG PS3 bundle (with backwards compatibility, I hope)!
@eastx:
The benefit of remote play is to access some games, all movies, all music, and all photos that are either stored on your PS3 or streamed from your PC to the PS3, from any internet connection on the world, via your PSP.
Example: I have last season's Lost episodes on my PC, shared to my PS3. If I'm stuck in an airport, I can access all of those and watch them on my PSP as long as I have a wireless connection. Same with all PS1 games, some downloaded PSN games, and very, very few PS3 games.
@Arttemis: That will gimp the XBLA versions of these games*.
Hey. I was playing Pixeljunk Monsters via Remote Play on my psp for the first time just a few hours ago. Does this have any practical use outside of my home? Can I play from a remote location for real?
@Kyle81: That bionic arm would come in handy when you reach for the TP and don't find any. You could grab some from under the sink without having to get up and do the pinch-walk.
Guess all this PS3/PSP news makes up for the lack of news at GDC, though GDC wouldn't have been the most appropriate place for this type of news.
Now I can finally get around to figuring out how Remote Play works.
I use remote play for Pixel Junk Monsters and Poker when someone else wants to use the TV. Works great.
@PeteyPie75: Yes, yes you can. Anywhere you can access a wireless connection, you can access your PS3 via the PSP.
It's only Feb. and this is already Sony's turnaround year! Launch 60GB FTW!
tons of GREAT PStriple news today, TONS!
TONS!!!!
Oh sweet thanks Tit. Do I have to have my ps3 on and running when I leave my house then? If so, is it ok to leave it running for extended periods of time?
@Groodle:
"That game...that game steals souls. I happily gave mine up a long time ago, and I haven't seen it since."
you are so right, just yesterday me and my friend where trying to get a rainbow on the 4th level (you kouw, the one where u have a limited amount of money) and we stayed at it for 5 HOURS. and still didn't get the rainbow.
@PeteyPie75:
There's a setting under Remote Play Options that will allow your PS3 to go into a kind of sleep mode, so it's powered off but can be awakened when you trigger the remote play from anywhere.
@Arttemis:
come on dude, you dont have to say "mentally retarted gimped version."
In fact, this is about remote play not LOLAZ PS3 ROXz XBLA SUXS thread.
so just leave that out and have a discussion about what the blog inteded to do.
thanks.
Well, this is very awesome news. First we get the "better graphics/textures on PS3" post, now the Remote Play post.
I honestly wonder if anybody with both systems is going to get the XBLA version now...this is really good news.
Was debating wheter or not to get the PC or PS3 version (and for a while the 360 version,till the talk of lower res textures) but this settles that argument
OMG! As if today could get any better with the Sony news!
@PeteyPie75: You're welcome...and thanks for sizing my name down to "tit"...no, really... :P heh heh.
And no, you can actually power up the PS3 using the PSP no matter where you are (again, provided you have a wifi connection where you are). I tested it in the hotel I was staying at in Costa Rica, and it activated my PS3 in Toronto.
@Archaotic:
I don't care about remote play but I'll be getting the PS3 version for the better graphics. I honestly don't even think they'll be significantly better but I'm not a fan of Microsoft's arbitrary size limit. There's just no good reason for it, and I refuse to support stupidity :p
@Archaotic:
I'm still barely leaning towards the 360 version due to access to my friends list and achievements. I have zero use for remote play, so this hasn't really tipped the odds for me. I'll need to see just how different the versions look when they come out though, and since the 360 version will definitely have a free trial, that will most likely be the one that I play first.
Remote play is best with old school PS1 RPGs :D I've played Persona 2 that way and it's brilliant.
@PeteyPie75: Oh, and further still, if you did decide to leave it running (PS3), I have mine running all the time. I turn it off once every week or so, but I do the Folding@home application, and it's been doing that for over 6 months. It's a well put together machine.
@eastx:
Sorry, I guess you have to be a gamer to get it...
@shipwreck: hope you don't plan on playing with those XBLA friends: neither version of BC is going to support online multiplayer.
@Dakobah: Wow, way to completely misquote me.
I didn't say the 360 BC:R was going to be the "mentally retarded gimped version."
I was stating that it will be subject to mentally retarded arcade restrictions, when the PS3 version isn't *AND* will have extra content.
I'm sure both games will look pretty similar and play the same, but obviously one will have more than the other. For people who have only a 360, like me, and have no plans on getting another console, the XBLA version will be just fine.
And, when one console gets features the other doesn't, I believe it is appropriate to acknowledge their significance.
I wasn't bashing the 360, just its *mentally retarded* policy on restricting several games from just Capcom alone, and possibly others (I hope Vigilante 8 doesn't face this issue as well).
@skullivan: Kind of makes you wonder if the upcoming Street Fighter 2 HD is going to also be downsized. I know I'll be getting the PS3 version as well.
@djsyndrome:
Yeah, I know the game itself doesn't have online play. I'm just saying that I like to be able to see if one of my friends logs on and wants to play something other than Bionic Commando together. Some people probably find that as useless as I find remote play, but it's an important feature to me.
I had already decided to get Rearmed on the PS3 when I heard that 360 version will be significantly less detailed due to XBL 150mb size limitations.
This is like icing on a cake m
