Use it as the ballast in your trash can.
Wow I've always wanted a power brick stand! I might have to pony up for one of these when they do hit 50.00
Fucking...Hilarious!
I am glad I didnt buy one. but then again i am missing out on an awesome paperweight.
What's a ballast?
And yeah, that's awesome. :) You can also use it as a ceiling decoration. :D
hmmmm a popcan coister....GENIUS
Now it can compete with the Wii!!
Slow day? This is getting beat to death. I thought you guys were a little more orginal.. meh.
Can it be used as...a DVD player?
Seriously though, can it?
LOL awesome.
@Piraat: :(
Anyway, at least now it's proven to be sturdy in other areas of use.
Some get a Thousand of them, and make another Domino Video
They missed the most important use: A weight to hold your LaserDisc and Betamax media on your shelf.
Or you pull a McGuyver and use the laser inside to make a fancy nuclear testing facility.
Laser ≠ nuclear testing facility, but to McGuyver it does!
Jeez, this is just wrong. Can you guys let the thing die with some dignity? It deserves a lot better than this. Plus the movies that were released on it still works and looks fantastic. Just let the thing be.
@AntiZERO: seconded.
you can turn it into a Zune coffin and give it a "format" burial.
@VampireHunterZ: This site is about 90% sony fanboi, this is feeding time :p
Just watch your fingers, they might take the tips off.
@Brian Ashcraft:
Joined today. This shit is being done to death 'tis all. I still love you all like meatballs shooting... err.. nevermind
@Piraat: poor poor thing.
But thats a frekin awsome bookstand if i do say so myself yessiree:)
@dowingba: Yes, at least as far as I know. That's a far better use for it than what Team Xbox suggests.
@Piraat: Joined today or joined in October? 2006?
@dowingba:
October 2006. You are winrar.
GENIUS!!
@Piraat:
(^_^)
I hope that someone actually figures out a way to mod it to do something cool.
@Piraat:
You are LIAR.
@Brian Ashcraft:
:3
Anyone want to unload their cupholder with a bunch of coasters for really cheap? Let me know...
@josh924: I know Team Xbox was joking, but I was just saying that, if I were to spend money on an HD-DVD player add-on, I'd use it as a DVD player.
@josh924:
So... you'd buy a 50$ addon to a dead format, so you can play a format already supported by your xbox?
It can be used as a X360 Fit !
@josh924:
DVD playback is standard with the 360's without an add on, so aside from the existing HD-DVD library, the thing is in fact useless.
Could we refrain from the teabagging, please? Yes, we all know that HD-DVD lost. Articles like these aren't much comfort to the individuals who paid $200+ dollars for their players, so stop rubbing salt in the wound.
(no, I don't own an HD-DVD player. Thanks for asking!)
@SG79: I heard somewhere that it's quieter than the 360's DVD drive though. Also, although probably not worth $50, but I guess it would mean you wouldn't have to take whatever game you're playing out of your drive in order to watch a DVD.
You could always break it, Office Space style.
Yeah, I already use it as a book end for my Blu-Ray movies.
I'll buy 1000 of them and use them to cover the floor like tiles.
im gonna buy one and wear underneath my shirt. im gonna cheat death by catching bullets on that bad boy.
you could use it as a DVD rewinder...
@topbravo222:
winner.
Sweet! Portable cupholder!
@Piraat: Please be kind and rewind!
I r winrar!
Wow, nice! The cup holder and bookend look pretty good.
...or keep it so you can sell it as a "rare collectible" on Ebay in 10 years. Mark my words!
SOMEONE!! TURN THE ADD-ON INTO A GRILL
Or sell it to me for dirt cheap with a bunch of non-shit movies.
I Guess ET is gonna have a New Best Buddy in the desert!
Hey, if the still package a few HD DVDs with it. I would cherry pick.
I think you could add a prism and convert it to a blu ray player.
I know you guys its not a full proof thing but its better than being a soap dish.
The coaster is absolutely brilliant
If you open the casing it says "buy downloadable content instead" inside.
i still can watch Heroes S1, Transformers, King Kong, Matrix Trilogy, and Oceans Trilogy on mine...
does anyone else have theirs broken yet?
How disrespectful. The HD DVD player loved you enough to stay by your side and play what YOU believed would be the right DVD format against Blu-ray DVD's, and to relegate it to a coaster or doorstop is NOT COOL. When I leave out tommorow, I'm personally going to pour beer on the curb for my dead homie, the HD-DVD player.
/joking (slightly...)
@icepick314: Mine has yet to break, but I'm gonna buy a second if they drop to 50 bucks because I already have 49 hd-dvd and 47 blu-ray and I refuse to sell a still working format only to rebuy them on another.
Plus, the 5 free hd-dvds thing is still technically in effect, so I could get a player and 6 movies for 50 bucks.... sounds like it's worth it to me to keep the player and just buy everyone else's cheap movies while expanding my blu-ray as well :).
yeah, still gonna use it for my current hd movies and dvds.
