Last night Valve held their GDC party at the lovely and white Temple Nightclub in beautiful downtown San Francisco, and a group from Harmonix were on the scene to catch a special performance by Jonathan Coulton, who you may remember as the writer behind the Portal ending song, "Still Alive". Towards the end of his set, Coulton and the Harmonix boys pulled out a surprise.
That is when we jumped on-stage and pulled out our Rock Band equipment piece by piece...When they got to the song list they scrolled through an almost infinite amount of DLC until eventually they stopped on one- "Still Alive" by GLaDOSRemember the future Rock Band DLC found in file story from last Wednesday? Might wanna start paying it a bit more attention, cause this is one long shot that came true. Hell yes!

this is a triumph.
I'm making a note here: huge success!
Great, now I can get even MORE sick of this song. /rant
yet another reason Rock Band > Guitar Hero 3
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction...
Oh come on, SOMEONE was going to!
OMGODDDDDDDDD!!!! That is all.
Hey. They're singing the song in the comments, let me join in:
Aperture Science
We do what we must
because we can.
Aperture Science!
We do what we must because we can...
I love this song
@Kirbytheslayer: In-Kirby XMB:
For the good of all of us, except the ones who are dead.
I was going to sing along too, but I'm embarrassed by my singing voice.
All my weeks of practicing are gonna pay off!
Polly wants a cracker... guess I should get off her first....
Wait... wrong song from the leaked list. My bad!
Auto download for me. But where's my "hum"?
Probably in next week's DLC, I'd bet, otherwise it won't be until April.
wow, ive never heard that song outside the game before!... wait a min...
But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
I love the song and all, but meh. It's not what I'm looking for in Rock Band. Leave it to the GLaDOS's of the world. Of course, my bet is it prints some fine money for Harmonix. Bet this is downloaded like mad.
whoa... why do the comment boxes look different Oo
There is a God!
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
Stupid song.
<3 Rockband.
<3 Portal
<3 New posting format. Yay.
@mywhitenoise: BLASPHEMY! The gods shall spite you for your nay-saying and evil-doing!
Go listen to Anthrax ya damn hooligan. (White Noise...Anthrax...album...get it?)
Where's the damn online world tour
I've had this played at me so much in the past few months. And you know what?
I'm not even angry. I'm being so sincere, right now.
I love the song. Go Rock Band!
1. I'm Incredibly excited for this.
2. I might just have to buy Rock Band now
3. STOP TYPING THE LYRICS.
We all know them already.
There is science to be done.
But first we must ROCK!
I want the game bad, but no release date for Europe sux, DLC this DLC that, what about a big continent across the pond waiting to buy the thing? :(
Hell yeah!
Nine Inch Nails Pack AND Still Alive DLC? Can Harmonix fulfill my dreams anymore? Oh yes the majority of Coheed and Cambria catalogue, or Rush Master Tracks.
When I first got rock band, the songs I was most looking forward to were the "joke" songs. Trogdor and Thunderhorse FTW, basically, and I wanted to see what they'd pull out with Rock Band... and secretly was hoping for Still Alive, since I KNEW it was a nerdcore memetic legend and would be a lot of fun to sing.
Sadly it wasn't in the actual game itself, so I hoped for DLC... and huzzah! My hopes, they have been answered. Yes, I'm sure we're all "sick of it" by now but it's part of gamer culture and it's welcomed by those who will welcome it. If you don't want to hear it again, fortunately it's optional content, yes?
Anyone else noticed that one break in paragraphs is like...10 times bigger than before?
How about now? Right?
Hmm... I approve.
Wow, the new commenting system is from the FUTURE!
Look at what I can do!
... Wait... Hmm. It was supposed to be a crane, but it didn't come out right. Curse my stubby fingers!
Dammit now I really want to play Rock Band, but know one I know has one :( I would get one myself, but I'm not too big on these types of games.
ALSO: When did the format change? I love it.
Woo! I approve. Too bad I can't have a Weighted Companion Cube on lead guitar while I rock out on drums...
What a triumph!
YES. Another song I can shamelessly rule. The only other song: Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld.
So this is basically an insta-download for me as it appears for many of the rest of you... i just cant wait to see how they lay the tracks down and how hard it will be to impersonate GLaDoS
Epic.
Isn't the Rock Band Still Alive going to be very different from GLaDOS's version?
This was a *crowd roar!*
I'm ma-(crowd sings along)-KING A NOTE HERE HUGE SUCCESS
fun times made even fun....er
lol i know i will play this song and people who dont know are going to be like "wth is that?" XD
Sweet! I was just thinking of this a few days ago. My roommates and I have all had creepy obsessions with that song at some point since the Orange Box's release. This will be a lot of fun.
I'm not even angry.
My prayers were answered! All those sacrifices weren't for nothing!
I'm as happy as a crack addict ingesting quite a large amount of crack. Wondering a bit what they're going to do for the drums.
Awww, I was hoping to throw in a Combo Breaker...
but yeah, this is awesome. I love how different studios can work together like this.
it will be the number 1 DL'ed song on rock band. i called it!
Want.
It will be free right? No way I'm buying that.
Wow. I want Rock Band MORE now.
The only thing/s that are putting me off buying the hardware bundle is the fact I already have Guitar Hero 3, and I don't see spending that much money on the extra hardware as worth it, considering only one or two of my buddies at a time generally make their way around.
This rules
...I'm Being so sincere right now
Hell. yeah.
Confirmed I am SUPER HAPPY!!!! I can't wait, although I have a few friends who are going to be mad at me playing that over and over.
