Zero Punctuation yesterday? Why!?!?! Well because Yahtzee was busy appearing in a series of interstitials for last night's Game Developers Choice awards at GDC, and here for your viewing pleasure is that series of interstitials. See Croshaw take on faceless FPS protagonists, the guitar based game phenomenon, and finally the entire year of 2007. Very odd to be hearing censor beeps during an episode of Zero Punctuation, but you've heard enough of Yahtzee's ranting at this point that your mind will probably automatically fill in the blanks anyway. Bollocks!

duke nukem WTF!!
Wow, those beeps really mess you up. It's like on South Park when they unbleep it occasionally.
while we are on topic of GDC, anybody know when sony will be doing their keynote Speech?
He sold out quicker than a 2-for-1 deal.
My favorite ZP in a while. He was really sharp here!
@Keef: Don't you mean FTW?
****ing awesome.
Why did they even bother censoring it? It's not like it's hard to hear what he's saying..
And why did they try and censor "jacking off" but not "arse"?
Weirdos
Man... would have preferred a regular episode this week. It was amusing, but not particularly funny. Anyone got a good quality version of the video he did for Ken Levine's panel? I'd rather see that.
Oh, I see now. We're putting age prohibition warnings on games for the DEVELOPERS, not for the PLAYERS! I didn't realize that the game developers were such utterly braindead creatures that they needed so much coddling! Makes sense, I certainly know no normal 11 year old would be harmed by Gears of War... it's just the limp-wristed programmers and corporate types that are too spineless to stand up to the ESRB because it's for their OWN good!
That was his best video in a while. I was laughing out loud nearly the whole way.
That was sweet!
@Manny: Question If you were offered large sums of cash would you
A: decline so you wont be a "sell out".
or
B: accept and be set for years.
Personally I would rather sell out and do something I love for a living then do it for free and starve.
Hilarious - but yeah, why the beeps?
They seemed to censor some things and left a couple things in there that sounded the same as the some things that were censored. They're toying with us!
@Manny: That's exactly what I thought...But considering he was doing the animations for insiders, I guess he was playing to his audience....if the venom and bile is gone from his next review then we can truly say he's gone corporate.
Not that I blame him one bit for making a living off his little endeavor, but the tone was different from anything else he had done before.
@Deadeyereborn: I didn't mean sell-out as in he shouldn't do it I just question the censorship. They know what he's like so why even ask hom to do it if you're just going to turn it in a Nick cartoon?
Fan-****ing-tastic
The duke nukem part was really funny XD...
I can't wait until Yahtzee takes on Wii Fit, it will be hilarious!
I don't think he sold out.
These clips were shown on the big screens at GDC (at least thats the impression I got) and there are some big executives there who might find some things offensive.
I understand that Yahtzee might not give a rats ass if its offensive or not but the people who invited him may have told him in advance "you can curse all you want but were going to bleep you if you do."
To which Im sure he replied "whatever, you stupid wankers"
The bleeps destroyed this video, it's not like children understand the awesomeness he spouts anywho.
@Manny:
You'd be stupid not to, and he hasn't actually lost anything except maybe censoring.
@TheCleaningGuy: shhhhhh only you and me know i made a boo boo typo...
@Manny: wow my spelling sucks. stupid fat fingers.
Man, you people need to quit bitching.
lol, "This image represents the music industry" "URK"
@Manny: When you go to a big event there are some rules you have to play by. Even though I use profanitys all the time I wouldn't yell them at a job interview. There are many differnt people at the GDC some of them could be offened and really I would rather take censorship on a few "Fucks" and "twats" then not show up to something so big.
He speaks the truth: beehand > j00!11!
The drummer comment did hurt, though...
@Manny: Standing up for creativity, being edgy, and other such things are, apparently, passe. Look at the absolutely TAME games that get rated M for no reason. Put a character smoking a cigarette in there and you're a small publisher? That's an automatic M. (that's a true story snippet from the ratings process of Shadow Ops, I happened to know a dev on it at the time) Nowadays, people just bend over and take it when it comes to censorship. I have a theory why. There was a news story yesterday about how 2/3 of Americans think nanotechnology is morally unacceptable. Now, that is of course insane. THere is no moral framework anywhere outside of luddites and the Amish that would be opposed to nanotech. The people in the survey obviously didn't even know what it was. So what were their choices? Either becoming morally indignant and have some fun slinging mud and controlling other people by demanding they stop having fun with nanotech, or... relax and do nothing. Well, people don't like being bored. So they go the route of being morally indignant and a busybody crunt.
Huh... that was okay, I guess.
yahtzee + ps 3 = joygasm
On other news: This is what it is going to sound like on TV. So I guess we might as well get used to it.
Meh-mor-peg-ger.
Greatest word ever. I'm so glad he used it again.
@Shocky: How in the hell did in ruin it? Is it because you are so hardcore if it's bleeped I think it sucks. It's not like you couldn't hear what he was saying.
@AlKusanagi: Agreed about the drummer part! :]
i agree with him at the end. if it isn't good than im sure there is gonna be hell
Leagues funnier than his past few reviews. Yahtzee is better when he's prying apart popular icons. Bee Hand and Drunk 360 FTW.
Awesome but the bleeps made it less enjoyable. Still entertaining though.
cock cock penis penis, yea i filled in the blanks.
His reviews are still sarcastic, snappy, but because of a couple bleeps gamers apparently are upset?
Even further is the argument "We can understand what he is saying anyways" so I don't get it, why complain if you know his meaning?
I kinda liked the bleeps.. more of a statement to how censuring sucks!
If the bleeps ruined your entire enjoyment of the video, then you should probably reconsider why you watch ZP in the first place.
Yatzee, as usual, was hilarious and dead-on in his analysis, and it's glad to see that his snarkiness is intact and functioning perfectly.
Yahtzee is incredibly cool, he could be the first real celebrity game reviewer.
I demand an uncensored version !
Was that a slight nod to Monty Python's Sir-Not-Appearing-In-This-Film at the end?
Anyway, the bleeps felt kind of random, but you were right, my mind just filled in the blanks.
I specially loved the PS3 analogy, really reflects the truth imho.
@bonecows: Why not? I'd imagine the giant foot the rock star did blow off of was another nod to the nice Monty Python folks.
oddly enough i still heard the cuss words instead of the beeps. my brain is so good to me sometimes.
Aaaah I'm covered in beeps!
@Maldron: Lol, I caught the sir-not-appearing-in-this-movie and missed the giant foot! That only goes to show why I must watch every yahtzee review at least five times for full awesomeness achievement.
So when they censored twa[bleep]t, what do you think he was actually saying?
I didn't mind the bleeps as much as everyone else, it seems.
Personally, I think bleeps make words sound far more vulgar than they actually are.
Yahtzee is to the computer game review what Jeremy Clarkson is to the car review. I'm not sure if I should be scared of really enthused by this realization.
Anyway, it was amusing but it didn't make me laugh - just about all his reviews have managed to make me laugh a lot. I think it's because of the presentation style, this is just lots of canned segments and it loses the flow.
Still, it wasn't bad.
For those mystified about why the beeps bother some people, perhaps I can explain. When something is bleeped out, it is because someone else took a lot at a creative work by an individual and decided that the audience was too fragile/stupid/whatever to be able to handle the content like a thinking person. So they bleeped. There is no other reason behind the bleep except for an implicit insult to the audience.
@Lightthrower: I kind of doubt he'll ever do Wii Fit, but yes, it would be insanely hilarious.
The bleeps didn't ruin the video all that much. I did love his reasoning for having the guy from Bioshock win the nameless, faceless *bleep* award though. Having the ability to shoot bees from your hands = instawin.
At the speed that Yahtzee speaks, you could make a game out of trying to bleep his filthy and delightful language. That would take some seriously speedy reflexes.
WTF? was that the G4 version? where is the good one?
