Peter Molyneux took the stage this morning to talk more Fable 2, and announce two new features that will be making their way into the game. The first is an interesting one: co-op play. Real co-op play. If you own Fable 2, and a friend of yours owns Fable 2, you can jump into their singleplayer world, play along, then leave. Sort of like Crackdown. Except here, any items or experience you accrue in their game you'll be able to take back to yours. Nifty!
The other feature is a little more unique. A few weeks prior to the release of Fable 2, Lionhead will put out an XBLA title that contains a few gambling minigames. Any and all money you earn in those, you can export into Fable 2 when you get the final game. Sure, it's a neat gimmick, but it's also teaching you a lesson: you don't get money during quests in Fable 2. Because Skeletons in caves don't carry wallets. The only way you can earn money in the game is to either work for it, or win it by gambling.
Add those to the dog and the fact I really dug the first Fable and yes, Peter, despite my best attempts at ignoring your promises, I'm excited for this game.

She looks excited!
Well, now I'm confused. How are they going to do this for the inevitable PC version? I bought Fable on the PC, and I plan to get Fable 2 on the PC. But I want my cheap gambling mini-game!
I am now officially excited about this game after reading this report.
Wait, so we get to "buy"? XBLA game with... minigames to earn money for the full game? Thats a terrible idea.
@Kirbytheslayer: In-Kirby XMB: Well...Don't get it for PC then. By the time it comes out it'll require something like Pixel-Shader 4 and DirectX11.
This game is my most anticipated now. Co-op will add so much replay value to the game....awesome.
@Kirbytheslayer: In-Kirby XMB: I dare say it'll probably be a free download for PC users....
She's very cold!!!
@Luke Plunkett: If the PC ever gets it, that is :)
I wonder if each minigame will cost the normal 800 ms points or if they will be bundled.
Would be a crafty kick in the pants if they fleece you for 20-30 real bux extra to earn in game money.
The video is at IGN guys.
Impressive actually.

Scroll down for video box.
Ninja looting peoples games ftw.
btw I would so kill to have an epic moustache like that.
@Witzbold: Who wouldn't? Chicks dig the stache.
Can she be my mistress?
This game is looking better and better by the day. Big fan of the first Fable, now I'm pretty pumped for the new one!
I Have an Idea! Maybe they can include a special Xbox Live Promo Code inside each fable 2 case to download the XBLA game for free....then only people who dont own fable 2 have to "buy' the minigame?
Cannot wait for the game, this feature sounds like a great idea. It will be done in every game from now on.
If the XBLA thing is free then it is great, if I happen to missunderstand it. The co-op part sounds cool, but no online co-op?
must me cold in there
Man I can't wait for Fable 2. I would have killed for co op in Elder Scrolls 4, but this will slake that thirst. Sounds like they've really made a true sequal to Fable instead of making moderate tweaks like so many other developers do.
@Irenicus-the one and only:
It sounds like it's online co-op, because Luke mentioned a player and his/her friend both having copies of the game...
Which is unfortunate because my best friends don't even own an X-box. I understand a split-screen may be awkward in this sort of game, and a same-screen would be restricting, but co-op on the same system is better IMO.
I'll still be getting it, I loved the first one.
@Spiffmeister: Read the report a little closer get your answer.
This game better be good cause they sure have taken enough time to make it. This game will smash Oblivion hands down. Not sayin that they arent bad games but Fable puts an edge on the rpg genre
I'm just a lil' miffed because he keeps raving about the revolutionary combat system but from the videos we've seen it looks absolutely lackluster. If it's as good as Peter says it is (it never really is) then I'll start to get excited.
Remember when the First Fable was in development and it was going to have all these awesome features. Then when it was released it had like a tenth of them? Just sayin.
Sounds awesome. I'm really excited about the Co-op news. That made me secure my purchase of the game.
Going around doing quests with friends? Then taking the loot you get? AWESOME.
gonna be fun killing other peoples spouse's like in the demo :)
Good old Peter, it sounds like the second coming of Christ, then we get a game that, while good, is definitely lacking in the divine.
This news is hours old.
I remain cautiously optimistic, and expect the game to be decent but not world-changing.
My lack of enthusiasm is entirely Molyneux's fault.
Does this mean we can get our best friend preggers?
Just wondering, because I know some people prefer to have girl characters. That would be a little freaky, having virtual man-babies. Assuming your friend is a guy in real life of course. Also assuming you are. But one of your chaacters isn't.
If not, oh well, I can still shoot their spouses, put an Axe in their children, and burn down their farm, right?
Oh wait, that just what Peter promised us. We might be able to start a small brushfire on their property with magic, though.
I just can't get excited about this game. After playing Oblivion, I can't see myself playing this game without constantly wanting to go back to Oblivion.
@Eman311: You people just dont fucking learn do you?
@B: The difference here is that the promises for the first Fable were made at least a year before it was released. These new promises are being made now, when Fable 2 is being released later this year. Or did Peter make promises like this in the same year Fable 1 was released?
thats pretty cool, i'm not still not really sold on the game.
@JibbyJam: The thing that's supposed to be revolutionary about the combat is that its all done with one button.
Yes! The co-op thing's great, they didn't need to do that. I love it when developers just throw that in there, the fun increases so much.
@josh924: one button combat is the reason i'm not really sold on the game quite yet
Thank you Peter Molyneux! not enough games have co-op in them and Fable i always though was perfect for Co-Op action!
Any game that I have any interest in instantly gets kicked into overdrive as soon as the words co-op get thrown out there. I can't help but wonder how many people out there are in the same boat as I am? Pretty much any game that has co-op instantly gets pushed up a few pegs on my games I'm really anticipating list.
Viva co-op!
@Witzbold: Go Witz :)
Is this online co-op? If so that raises the hype meter for me.
Titillating, to say the least.
Fable 2 is top three for me on the 360 this year.
GTA 4 and Fallout 3 being the other two.
Great I get a gambling game to earn money, but when will either of these games actually come out? This year? Next? Never? Please put a timeline on it, Epic put one on Gears 2 right after it was teased.
So I can hop into my friends game and completely destroy it? HOT!
You can see some co-op stuff on gametrailers. Looks pretty damn awesome.

Really would like split screen. I don't need to be allowed to be in different towns or anything. Within reasonable proximity(within half a town distance) split screen would be great.
Day One Purchase. Can't Wait.
@StevenRafael: I'm so confused though, anyone knows if the co-op is online as well or only and if the XBLA minigames cost money. Pretty big things and pretty important to know, unless I can't read between the lines or something or I'm blind :P
Sweet!
