According to the Wall Street Journal, of all places, Nintendo have gotten around to announcing a release date for money-printing balance (remember, balance, not fitness) training game Wii Fit. It'll be released in the US on May 19, so those looking for new ways to improve their sideways-leaning techniques or would like to bore houseguests to death with a new Wii Sports "replacement", you've only got a three month wait. How exciting!

Just when the weather is getting warmer! Why go outside and get real exercise, when you can say inside and get fit, Wii Style!
I do not have a Wii, but to be perfectly honest, I thought this was already released in the States.
I hope it takes off of course, it is quite refreshing among all of this "Murder Simulator" drivel.
Give me a European date Nintendo, don't forget us, we bought 6+million Wii's here, we deserve some loving :)
Nice to see it get a date for the US though.
My interest jumped ten-fold with the recent "Iwata asks".
I highly recommend the interview, it details from conception to the final product and is definitely worthwhile read.

Weren't they reinforcing the balance board for western audiences?
Please Nintendo, give us a European release date! If you are so worried about modded consoles you could start releasing games so that we can buy them. If it weren't for the regional lock we could at least import the game we want to play.
This just in Nintendo releases another non game, Super mariocart wii delayed until 2009.
The hardest part about exercise and fitness for me is keeping track of everything. If this silly little game and controller can "revolutionize" the way I do that such that it keeps me interested in my fitness plan, I don't care if it doesn't burn a single calorie, that's a good thing.
Anyway since when did the word "fit" mean "burns fat off your huge ass?" Clearly there is some major assumption going on with people who think this is all misleading. Given something like that, I wouldn't expect more than the most basic morning stretches and a scale. I have no idea how anyone concluded it would be anything else.
@One_Way_Mule: Its for all the "Can I super-size it?" perhaps?.
@CYBEREAL: Exactly my point. At my age and timeframe, if such products can visually confirm such overlooked aspects of keeping interest in fitness; I am all game. Plus, its definitely a win for the household.
@Fyren: Atleast it is more sturdy and can handle more. Much appreciated, I hope Europe gets the bigger one too.
European date appears to be 25.4. Whee. Source: nintendo.fi
They upped the weight limit, right?
@cybereal: Wow, you hit the nail right on the head there, man. I was rather annoyed by the people who thought that a 300lb weight limit for the balance board was not enough, because "the people who need to loose weight wouldn't be able to play it". The game is designed to keep your body healthy, i.e. "fit", not to help you loose weight, i.e. proper diet and exercise.
This better be released then. My wife asks me every week when this is coming out. I think she believes it will help me lose my little beer belly I have developed since we got married.
@cybereal: Exactly. My plan is to have it supplement my workout schedule to keep me doing something every day. I'm also interested in the yoga part to help me relax.
