Dutch site GamerCC are reporting (Nintendo are yet to confirm) that, during the Micromania Games awards show held in France earlier today, it was announced that Super Smash Bros. Brawl would be released in Europe on June 6. That's June 6 2008 for the (understandably) paranoid amongst you. Bummed at the delay? Look on the bright side! That's less than four months away! It could have been much, much worse.

Why is it that it seems the biggest draw to this game is Princess Peach upskirts?
Still seems inexcusable. And this is coming from an American.
Well, that looks like the date I'll be getting a Wii then. Saving monies...commence now!
As a european I'm used to it. *sniff
@Irenicus-the one and only: Amen brother...amen...
As a european I'm downloading this goddamn game when it comes out in the US. Screw Nintendo and it's constant dumping on the PAL market. And NO, I don't won't Wii Fit.
I take it that this games show is the reason why there's so many Europe Nintendo release dates today? In any case, sweet. This date is better than all my expectations. >_<
as a european, i still dont get it, here in holland we usualy get the the game, and can choose to play it in english, french or german/italian...so why the F do we have to wait? just ship us the US version, we'll be happy again :)
or is it realy egocentric to not wanting to whait for the french?
june 6th is my birthday! if i lived in europe, it would be the happiest birthday of my life. Good thing i don't have to wait that long.
@iwamoto: Exactly. Ship the US translation to the countries that plays it in english anyways(which is most europa I think), and let the spanish/french/german wait if they want to.
So we'll see Mario Kart before SSBB? that's nuts. Why can't Nintendo get these things right?
There's probably some statistical analysis somwhere deep inside Nintendo that has a convoluted sales reason for Wii Fit being pushed forward and bumping SSBB to June. Balls.
I think that UK, Australia and the States should be considered one market... yeah it makes no sense logistically, but linguistically, it makes perfect sense.
Then you have Japan and then everywhere else... bah...
But yes kinda used to delays now, but still annoyed!
rpgs are delayed ok, they have much text to translate. i don't know what they have to translate in smash bros? game menu that's it.
Its better to have the Peach upskirt picture than Wario's ass shoved in your face all the time
At least you guys get...Wii Fit...
Sorry Europe. I feel for ya.
I'm starting to hate being european... why the hell almost all the games are delayed here? Aren't we important as americans or as japanese are or what?
We also buy games... less, but we buy.
! Date didn't originate from gamercc, it originated from wiiz.fr. Nintendo also denied the date already, but wiiz.fr seems to have a video with the announcement. [www.wiiz.fr]
I can wait. Plenty of other good games getting released between now and then.
I'd buy a US Wii, if this wasn't the only damn game I was waiting for anyway.
Does anyone know if the Jap version works with online play in Europe? I am able to spectate other online games, but cannot find other players to fight. My friend has downloaded the Jap version and left his Wii at my place as he isn't really too bothered. After several hours play the fiend in me is satisfied and waiting till June is not too bad... but I can understand people being very pissed.
Hilarious pic.
I've never played an SSB game, and I wonder if I've been missing out.
Is it like Power Stone?
Oh, if only Peach wasn't wearing panties in this game. It'd easily be a 3 million seller on day one.
I'd buy 6 copies!
Thank you Nintendo, for your continued appreciation of the European market, which is the third-largest in the world, and which does not in fact consist of inferior subhumans who don't deserve videogames.
@Eltigro: Because some kids are just odd like that? If their fetish is knickers, leave them be. At least her jubblies don't jubble. THEN I'd be disturbed.
@Himiko:
Don't forget that they have to translate all of that extra stuff like trophies and stickers.
Were you just looking for an excuse to use those screenshots again?
Were you just looking for an excuse to post those screenshots again?
Sorry, Europe. I weep cyber-tears for you :'(
...
EEEEEEE only two more weeks for American version!
The delays to Europe aren't Nintendo's fault. They're not Sony's fault, and they're not Microsoft's fault. All games are developed for the Japanese audience first, which use NTSC, just as the US. The US only needs translation done in one language. Europe not only has to have the game converted to PAL, but also around 5 different languages as well as pass VARIOUS national regulatory processes as well. Certain European countries have very strict regulatory laws regarding media (especially Germany) which holds up the process and makes the delays longer for all of Europe, since one singular product is released across the EU.
These companies do not hate Europe. They're not trying to piss you off, and they do want your money. Please, stop the "Hello Nintendo, we're a giant land mass with money" comments. They know you're there and they want their products in your hands. Game companies are businesses that want to make money. They're not a pack of children who are out to spite countries that they don't like for some childish reason.
Dammit, can't resist looking at the upskirt.
@Billkwando: In a sense, the premise is the same, take out your opponents and use items to help you. The only large difference between the two is that Smash Bros. is in 2-D, while Power Stone is in 3-D.
P.S.: Sorry for double post.
