And so the cast for the upcoming movie Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li begins to round out! Stars Michael Clarke Duncan and Chris Klein, and Rick Yune will be joining Smallville's Kristin Kreuk as Chun Li. Duncan, who you may remember as Kingpin from Daredevil (ugh) will be playing the part of Balrog, who doesn't know how to kick. The unnaturally pretty Chris Klein will be playing Nash, which is the original Japanese name for Guile's war buddy Charlie. In the role of the elderly master assassin Gen who trained Chun Li briefly in her youth will be Rick Yun, who I remember as Johnny Tran in The Fast and the Furious, and who is also playing Edward Carnby in Alone in the Dark II (double ugh.) Rounding out the cast is Journeyman's Moon Bloodgood (hopefully Cammy!), the Black Eyed Peas' Taboo (maybe Dee Jay?), Singapore's Edmund Chen (possible Ryu?), and Hong Kong star Cheng Pei Pei - Jade Fox from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The filmmakers are still searching for the perfect Bison. Unfortunately he died fourteen years ago.

So, so tragicly true, Fahey.
Duncan is a good actor, he alone may keep this movie from ebing a complete bust.
@Sparx:

Duncan is a good actor. While I do remember him from Daredevil, I also remember him from good movies like Sin City and The Green Mile.
I'm laughing hard with a straight face.
hahah..bison...that's funny.
I just looked up Kristin Kreuk... and I'm sold!
Hmm, Taboo? He has long hair...I dunno... T.Hawk? -_-
I'm suddenly upset about the Bison thing.
@Shiryu: Please tell me you don't mean Raul. He should never have been in that terrible terrible movie :(
SFII was at least better than Overdrawn at the Memory Bank
Sparx? You okay there buddy? Duncan may save a terrible liscenced movie? If that theory worked, Daredevil would have not blown.
If they're going with the Japanese name for Charlie, why not do it for Balrog and Bison? The whole thing feels weak to me. I hope they all punch themselves in the mouth.
Reading this post somehow made me feel like I was reading details about a large pile of feces.
Daredevil wasn't that bad. Although I do admit to leaving my brain at home while watching it.
Wow they are actually going to try and make this a good movie it looks like. Sorry to say that it's just Uwe has pretty much turned me away from games that turn into movies.
@Gonzodamus: They can't do that, or else Mike Tyson/Rodney King will sue them. There's no lawsuit, however, with the names "Guile", "Charlie" or "Nash".
Raul, you'll be forever missed.
@Gonzodamus: At least Overdrawn at the Memory Bank was good on MST3K.
I'm sure this movie will also be great as fodder for whatever the MST3K crew finally do when they get all the Rifftrax and Cinematic Titanic crap sorted out. This movie should not be made. End of story. Everybody involved knows it.
Can i get an "oh dear"?
*holds mic to crowd
OH DEAR.
Kristin Kreuk and Moon Bloodgood (awesome name btw) are two of the hottest people on TV. I'm a fan of Journeyman and Bloodgood is great in it.
The only chance this movie has is if it doesn't take itself too seriously.
Street Fighter 2 Movie Video Game!!! It's only a matter of time.
Raul Julia, though a great actor, was a terrible casting choice for Bison.
@tnx3: This has been done before. It was in a mortal kombat style.
it's just too bad boll has nothing to do with the picture.
the green mile was a good movie plus he was also in socom2 best game ever...
@tnx3: It's already been done!

Duncan is a good actor, but man has he been in a lot of crappy titles. Daredevil, Scorpion King... just to name a few.
I'll put this in the, "I will think about it when it's out" column.
To be honest, the cast could be a hell of a lot worse. It's 10X's better than the cast for the first Street Fighter movie, which was garbage. It could only get better, IMO.
Is there ANY video game movie you people have hope for?
I actually liked the Silent Hill movie. ....Even if they got the characters messed up...
I'm rooting for the Metal gear Solid movie being decent.
WHO'S WITH ME?
..... anyone?
Moon Bloodgood is quite the hottie. Of course Kristin Kreuk is cute too. Hmmm... I may have to see this movie as bad as it may be. Just not in the theater because I'm not about to pay $10 just to see a 50 ft ... Moon ... Kristin ... running around... What am I saying?!? $10 is a steal!
Is it me or does the whole cast sound like a mish-mash of actors you'd never think to see together in a movie that doesn't fit any of their looks? Weirder match ups have happened, I suppose.
Does anyone else think Owen Wilson looks exactly like Ken from Street Fighter II on the SNES?
After having said that, I just googled this:

Although Raul Julia shouldn't have been cast in the original SF movie, you can't blame him for the poor quality of it. If you ask me, he'd have made a great Bison in a GOOD SF film.
ugh...this movie is full of fails.
abort!
Tom Cruise is the perfect Bison. They can reuse the light-up hover shoes from the first SF movie because Cruise would just sell that shit.
wtf
RAUL JULIA FTMFW.
Seriously I only watch that movie for him.
For all of the bad casting choices in the original, Kylie Minogue as Cammy? Couldn't have been better. Shame she's a wee bit older now.
Street Fighter by nature is very, very stupid (and I say that as a HUGE Street Fighter fan) so it'll be interesting either way. Whenever I see someone kicking and screaming that their "precious childhood memories" have been tainted by something like a movie, it just sorta says that their childhood was spent in front of a television and they don't actually have any valuable memories.
In other words? Stop expecting 300-style re-imaginings of Captain OG Readmore to reconcile your inner child and your inner manchild. Accepting that this stuff is innately kind of stupid to begin with, although tremendously fun, is step one in growing up.
Great reference to Raul Julia, too bad he died!
So they're going use to the original Japanese name of Nash for one character but keeping the US name for M.Bison (Balrog)? Seems a bit odd to me!
Duncan is a bear. Perfect for him to play Balrog.
@futurebiblehero: It'd be nice if the movies at least resembled the game in some way, don't you agree?
@MJDeviant: Rifftrax is so great. I haven't gotten any of the cinematic titanic stuff yet, but I'm eager to. Joel is the mac but man, the movies that Rifftrax has been doing rule. Watching Weird Al Jurassic Park tonight. (guest riffers is such a cool idea)
RIP Raul Julia
I'd rather watch a Street Fighter Rock Opera
Moon Bloodgood is like the most badass name i've ever seen.
lol yeah i was going to say.. taboo? dee jay? thatd be bad considering he's hispanic and all. and as ive said before.. mmm kristin kreuk <3
@MJDeviant: If you want a good laugh check out the Rifftrax on the Daredevil movie LOL priceless.
Isn't Michael Clarke Duncan too cool (and a little too old) to play a Tyson rip like Balrog? Rick Yun as Gen makes about as much sense as Chow-Yun Fat playing master Roshi; Far too young. Minor complaints aside, this film seems like it's going to be alright. Charlie being announced over Guile to make an appearance is already a plus in my book. Hopefully this, and the announced King of Fighters film, will be two successful fighter adaptations that will break the string of stinkers like MK: Annihilation and Dead or Alive.
One question does intrigue me though: Will there be a Spinning Bird Kick performed by Kreuk? Though the cheeziness of seeing it performed in live-action is beyond words, it'll put a smile on many peoples faces, including my own.
@bigtimes: What the hell is this?! This isn't Street Fighter damn it!
Kreuk may be hot but she's no Chun Li. She looks like she'll snap if she performed a Spinning Bird Kick! That's just wrong!
Why can't they just leave Street Fighter alone (well, the film at least)? Ah, Raul Julia, would be turning in his grave, bless his soul.
The big downfall for having Duncan in this movie is they are going to have to find a fucking monster for Zangief
samuel l. jackson as balrog plz k thx bai.
sorry, i couldn't help but put that in.
Has anyone here seen Future Cops?
As long as they don't end it like the did with the first one and that corny ending crap then i.......still wont watch it.
+ Watch video
Train wreck in the making! I have NO HOPE for this film at all!
I'd be quite happy just to look at a photo of Kristin Kreuk dressed as Chun Li for ninety minutes, never mind watching her do a spinning bird kick. Needless to say, I'm sold.
@Gonzodamus: And what way is that? Having a musclebound guy with hair that's a foot tall, looking like something out of Dick Tracy fighting an effeminate Spaniard that's crawling up the wall like Spider Man while his virtual blackface caricature of an imbecilic African American boxer sucker punches him only to be blocked by a Hindu Mr Fantastic? What, do you want a three hour epic where they beat up cars during intermission?
Like I said, I'm likely one of the biggest Street Fighter fanatics to comment on this site and I just don't grasp why a silly rendition of this stuff can ruin someone's day. We have our games, isn't that enough? I've never heard a music fan claim that their youth was ruined by a bad Bob Dylan cover. I didn't see any Shakespeare fans throwing themselves down a well because of an Ethan Hawke movie. It's always the comic / anime / gaming fans because a great deal of us are emotionally and intellectually retarded.
@The Amazing Exploding-Man: Nathan Jones? Although he would suit Craig Marduk in a Tekken movie. [www.imdb.com]
Good casting for Balrog at least.
