That masked dude is really proud of his bulge.
General Gimp makes Prinny scared.
Wow look at the those knockers on that girl
@Bluecell: Nah the girl seems to have a bigger cannon. Funny positioning FTW.
Those screens look nice, but I'm getting a feeling of Beetleborgs for some odd reason.
Mushi King meets Famicon Wars.
Looks like a cross between Beetleborgs and Medabots
Hooray for awkward cannon/girl juxtaposition!
I don't know if it's Atlus or Kotaku, but there's 18 duplicate images linked.
@goldwings: lol yeah
<3 Atlus
Atalas and NIS teamed up with Satan a while back to purchase my soul.
Seriously. Their PS2 games are (imho) some of the best things to have ever existed during the PS2s lifespan. And their ds games, like EO, are phenomenal. I know they just do the job of translating and localizing, but they REALLY know how to pick games.
I eagerly await these DS tacticsishisms.
Atlas purchased my soul the moment I played Summon Night for the GBA.
Wait, in one of those screenshots, General Gimp says 'For Great Justice'...
In before the AYB meme spouters!
I must say, even for a JRPG, her chest is ridiculously large.
I'll have to try this out.
It looks fracking awesome and my DS really feels unabused from lack of....not turning on...ness.
Oh Atlus, you can delay games till the end of time and I'd still wait anxiously to buy them.
I would prefer more news/screens of Rondo of Swords, the other Atlus DS game due out in April. Still, I am an absolute sucker for SRPGs, so considering Atlus is pretty reliable at scratching that itch I might end up picking this up anyway. Especially since the stack of boxes in my desk drawer seems to indicate I'm addicted to buying DS games.
Can't wait for this. Atlus costs me too much money.
That's an odd placement of the scarab thing. *points to the cannon and giggles*... ok i'm done, sorry.
@Kirbytheslayer: Hot Tears of Shame for Life!: JRPG? You really cant read can you? "turn-based strategy game" is what the article states.
That is one impressive strap-on.
When I was looking through the screenshots, I realized how much this game reminds me of Zoids.
Even the "HQ" machine, thing:
[kotaku.com]
It's very similar to the Snail Hover Cargo, from Zoids.
Good grief must his crotch stick out so much?
Is it ban Monday? I'll hold my tongue just in case.
@Witzbold: I consider Turn-Based strategy games in that style RPG's. I consider Disgaea and FFT as Japanese RPG's, and Civilization type games as another type of turn-based strategy game.
Therefore, when I said JRPG, I was referring to a Japanese RPG, which I felt was appropriate. Sorry if the connotation was different for you.
I can now live out my Big Bad Bettleborg dreams now!
@Kirbytheslayer: Hot Tears of Shame for Life!: The correct term is SRPG which stands for "Simulation Role Playing Game". Not JRPG.
@Witzbold: I always assumed it stood for 'Strategy Role Playing Game'.
COCKROACH GRIN!
@GordieHoweHatTrick: @Sparx88: lol yea i was thinkin of beetleborgs myself
Makes me want to finish up Luminous Arc... Some day... Some day.
@Stormrider: In the western side of things yeah. In Japan its simulation, since they call strategy games "simulation" games here. Dont ask why, Im not exactly sure myself.
Apparently it can also be called a TRPG or Tactical RPG, but I think that might be more in lines to games like Jagged Alliance, Xcom, Silent Storm etc. Thats just a more personal opinion of mine. Granted Strategy,Tactical, Simulation RPG all can be used for the same type of genre and doesnt really need to be split up into even smaller nitpicking categories like what I do at times lol.
To kill the discussion about terms and terminologies...
RPG: Role Playing Games
JRPG: Role Playing Games developed by Japanese companies
WRPG: Role Playing Games developed by western countries companies
People who use those normally don't really care if it's RPG, turn based, adventure, or whatever. It's mostly used to mock and troll.
Disgaea is neither a turn-based strategy game nor an RPG. It's a tactical role playing game ([en.wikipedia.org]) or a turn-based tactics game ([en.wikipedia.org]).
Turn-based strategy games are games like Heroes of Might and Magic, Civilization, Advance Wars or Age of Empires: The Age of Kings ([en.wikipedia.org]).
I know this can't get any nerdier, but there's always been confusion as what game is what... and usually some games can be considered part of different types... but if we are going to start an arguement, it's better to have some reference to it.
I had never heard about this till now, and it is SO on my radar. Thanks for the post.
Nice, canon you got there, pretty lady. Now get that lovestick away from your crotch.
@Nisori: Yeah I think Kotaku ran a story on this a long time ago, but then it like went dark. The game that is, so it fell off of everyones radar.
Actually, Atlus should go ahead and delay it some more, I don't know about the rest of you but I haven't even had time to mess with the new Advance Wars game yet with all the games coming out for all the different platforms, and no offense to this but is it really going to be a superior game? Worth playing most definitely, but they have a better chance of getting my $$ in the first month of release if it comes closer to summer, is my point ;)
Love the first 5 comments.
Well, the first pic is in the newest Game Informer...
Oops, wrong topic... meant for Red Faction topic.
Question of the day: how many things went wrong in the picture?
@Etheo: At least I'm not the only one terribly terrified of it.
I'm not sure if the DS has room for another stylized quirky turn-based game. But for some reason this seems right up Atlus's alley.
@Bokusatsu_Tenshi: Age of Empires: the age of kings is absolutely not a turn based game.
there's something bizarre about this pic. the dude proudly showing off his boner behind the girl and the girl with a cannon on her snatch.
You see stuff that isn't there =s
but nice boobs :S
Good maybe that dude can find his pants and the chick can lose her shirt lol.
I see Atlus and I see SRPG, so I'm sold. By the way, has there been a release date announced yet for that one about werewolves with rocket launchers vs zombie Nazis?
All I can think about when I see that image is the strange position of the cannon and the woman.
Now, if the man and woman changed positions, it would be even stranger. His posture is just perfect for him to be behind that cannon.
