Capcom are keeping a fairly tight leash on people snapping pics and vids on the AOU 2008 showroom floor, but that's never stopped the internets before. The first shaky-phone-cam footage of the game's made its way out of the show, and is now ready for your slack-jawed approval/hair-pulling disappointment. Ryu v Viper above, with loads more after the jump.

They seriously need to fix Ryu's face.
That looks good.
Yeah his face looks pretty horrid. Also, no dragon punch? wth?
The gameplay itself looks excellent, but I have one issue.
From the opening scene, it's quite damn obvious that she's a NMH tribute.
While that would make a cool Secret character, it shouldn't be a serious one.
I think it looks fine, but I've experienced the rigors of 3D modelling and game design, my standards are probably lower than that of other people.
Looks sveet.
Ryu looks like a non-green Hulk.
It looks a bit slow, the action that is. Also Ryu's face=FUGLY
I don't know, i can't stand what they did with Ryu's face... he was one of my favorite characters too :( Now he looks... eek.
huh that does look pretty cool, lol at guile saying sonic boom at the end of the video
It's strange to see the transition from 2D to 3D even though it's not really true 3D but....ah hell, you guys know what I'm talking about...
That having been said, I'm really impressed with the fluidity of movements and overall look, especially considering that it's coming from a shaky cell cam. Those jerks needed to get out of the way!
It still looks like old Street Fighter, and I really appreciate that. I'm so used to a 3D game moving around and following the characters, so it's really nice to just see a back-and-forth pan.
In a word: EEEEEEEE!!!!! (if you consider that a word and not an obnoxious, high pitched screech of delight)
I'm on board....sign me UP.
I think they made his face ugly to show what happens when you Street Fight. Lets just say you don't get any prettier!
Hmmm the game looks a little sluggish, I don't know if the person playing Ryu sucked, but it seemed as if he was trying to do dragon punch but ended up jumping a lot and throwing fireballs. I mean, can 3D fighters play well when they're "suppose" to be moving at the speed of a 2D fighter?
Needs a large speed increase...
Faces still look retarded and the gravity looks intense.
Looks pretty cool to me. Speed seems pretty much what I'd expect from a Street Fighter game.
The guy playing Ryu really, really sucks though.
Wow, I must say, even if the footage isnt great. The game looks great and sticks to its roots. Im loving it, and the new character surprising looks pretty awesome, even though I wasnt a big fan at first. Im actually surprised and glad its not changing so drastictly. I can't wait for this game to be released, I want it now!
I like her.
I am pulling my hair in approval. This is quite a change in heart.
Fix that face though. Yikes.
I agree with some people here, the game did seem a little slow-paced, but I thought the graphics were quite nice and went well with the game.
Ryu is resembling Steiner from FFIX.
That's not a good thing.
gameplay seems kinda... weird. Slower than 3s?
but DAMN Crimson Vipah *licks fingers, touches booty* TSSSS!!
I feel it plays much like SFIII, but I'm no expert.
Ryu's face = Focused, intense fighter (it's them eyes that bother everyone), and really ugly as well, which I think it's awesome! Ugly heroes are quite rare.
Still I think that the portraits in Super SFII Turbo has been the best SF art every. You know, that one with pointy nose Ryu.
No shoryuken? Come on, I know the Ryu player was new but still, sweep sweep sweep wasn't a good showcase for me :(
I agree with others here, the gameplay seemed really slow to me. Heopfully they will hear about this from people on the floor and fix it, otherwise I'll be waiting for the Street Fighter 4 Turbo Hyper Championship Remix Edition.
^ Edit: Hopefully. Sorry.
@Korey: @bobafett356: @logicaldefense: @Mpalm.: @jive238:
Agreed.
Seems kinda slow...too much SF2 Hyper Fighting, probably.
"Fix the face! Fix the face!" How many messed up character portraits has this franchise produced BEFORE a number four was ever even announced? It doesn't need fixing, it's called "artistic variety."
I agreed with people saying is slow. The game seem sluggish to me compare to other Street Fighters, the animation was good and fluid, just that the gameplay look slow.
Did I just see a bit of bounce in her bust at the end of that clip?
Needs some speed. I'm mostly okay with the art style by now.
meh....
Way to slow for a fighter, can't hold a candle to Soul Calibur 2 and Guilty Gear X2. Oh how about a vid where someone actually is competent :P
@YUYU: DUDE wtf? If your not impressed there isn't a need for something like meh? Post something insightful instead of meh. How about i think they need to fix this and maybe that but that's my opinion. we don't need that here. YARGH! *looks for dagger but remembers he isn't worth.
Models and animations are looking good (yeah ryu face is ryu lol), but I'm kinda put off by the generic particle effect they're using for... pretty much everything it looks like. Looks like they can only make blue and yellow particles too. Hopefully the other characters will have more distinguishing effects.
@geoffcbassett: Jesus, theres no pleasing some people. This is the first time THE PUBLIC HAVE PLAYED IT.
@dirkxxdiggler: i saw a glimmer of Jolie when the shades were off, i'll try her out as I usually try the female fighters first
@Luke Plunkett: and sometimes you can't serve them logic sadly. i feel you.
@geoffcbassett: After Guilty Gear, I think people forgot slow fighters can be fun too =P
But yeah, there really needs to be a video of someone who's not terrible before we can tell anything about the gameplay. There's still plenty of time.
@Luke Plunkett: Come on Plunke you should know by now is the internet. You just can't please people if you offered them enough money to make them happy.
Gameplay is slow. Doesn't look like there's any dash. Jumps need more forward angle to them. Generally reminds me of the 3D King of Fighters series, which is bad news.
Wow, the animations look aweful.
What's with the long delay after he does a sweep kick or Hado-ken?
Concerning the speed of the game, if you wait till the end of the clip you'll see links to other videos of the game which seem to run the action a bit faster.
@darthmole12: "The guy playing Ryu really, really sucks though."
Damn straight.
I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one that's disappointed by Ryu's face. Shit it way too bulky if you ask me. He looks like Zangief almost.
So remember like a month ago when they said the game was 1% finished or something? Either this game has had the most ridiculously fast development cycle or they were BSing because to have a playable demo like that means it's pretty close to completion in my books.
It looks like fun - I'm looking forward to trying this street fighter. Still - given this video... It looks like a sweeping wins battle system so far. The range on their sweeps look huge. Not such good news there.
I guess we'll wait and see. It's hard to say with out seeing it and playing it in person.
I'll try any game once or twice at least.
-Niric
Ryu seems real... heavy? for the lack of a better word. Seems kinda clunky. I'm actually surprised we are still sticking with this one bar life BS. Maybe it's just for the arcades... but I feel having the bar be filled at least twice is necessary for testing true skill in a fighting game. Anyone can get lucky causing such little amounts of damage.
In addition, I hope to see some sort of finishing moves. Moves that can only be done when the enemy only has like 5% health left. I feel like finishing moves/combos in that art style could look very impressive.
Ryu needs to stay off the 'roids.
Also, there should be a mandate that gameplay footage should only be shot with halfway decent players. Seriously, bad play makes the game look bad.
To be honest, this game looks a bit slower than Third Strike. I'm not complaining, but I really hope that they can at least bring it up to TS's speed when the game is actually done.
That looks awesome, except for ryu's face lol
