The official Capcom blog pointed out earlier today that those earlier posted Famitsu pics of Street Fighter IV, well, they don't quite do the game justice. Nor does a Babelfish translation on details relevant to new fighter Abel. If you want a proper look at the new mixed martial arts star, check out the gallery below. The better news from the Capcom USA folks is that they'll be translating entries from the official Street Fighter IV development blog, currently only in Japanese. Check 'em out.
Oh, and Abel's bio? Here you go: "With no memory of his past, this young man has no choice but to move forward, using any clue he can get his hands on to rout out what may be left of Shadaloo. His fighting style represents a mix of multiple martial arts. Though he appears gruff and unfriendly on the surface, he is not the misanthrope he seems to be. His serious and polite nature is easy to misinterpret as indifference, but these still waters run deep indeed." I can't wait to politely axe kick with this guy!

Comments
Maybe he is Ken's long lost cousin.
No no he can't be, this guy is English, you can tell. Ken is American. ;p
This guy looks like a football player.
Want this game 100 ntimes over, but what's up with the new characters' collective hair poofs?
I don't need a poof on top of my head, and neither do they!
@Fadakar: Football as in soccer by the way lol.
Could he be Zangiefs brother?
Maybe I'm just a traditionalist, but all these new characters just look stupid.
Cmon, we need some good character design.
Watch, I'll be back in 15 minutes with a better SFIV concept.
In the far future, Ken is genetically modified into a hulking beast, has his memory wiped, and is sent back to fight in this game.
Sadly, that will probably make more sense than his actual "ending".
well i'm not a fan
Also that pick of him and guile is priceless. It looks like he punched guile so hard to force just came out of his and there that isn't dust but gas!
Brock Lesnar!
Mr. Incredible?
@mossberg: *hugs* I will convert you with my amazing skills!
God, the facial expressions are gold. Although these new characters are straight out of KoF...kind of uninspired.
Looks like he fits in
I hope he's better than Birdie. God, I hated that guy.
That drawing makes him kinda look like Geese Howard. I guess it's his face and the blonde hair, as his clothes are pretty different of course.
The concept art for all the characters looks pretty good. But good grief the actual in-game models suck IMO. Especially the faces.
The top half looks like a Ryu/Ken/Akuma/Dan/Sean clone safe for the stripes, then the bottom half... shin pads, really?
Like it
he could be Dhalsim twin brother...i kid i kid. in all serious-ness i hope he doesn't have a lame back story. it's usually the case with new characters.
I wonder if they modeled this guy after any past or current MMA fighters.
Are you thinking what I'm thinking, Kotaku?
It's interview time.
Okay. It turns out It's a lot harder than it looks.
But,nonetheless, here's JOE McBUFF!
An average nerd picked on because everybody assumed he was homosexual due to his pink hair, he mastered an ancient ninja art of super Karate and buffness, to become Joe McBuff.

Sambo!
Face it the only way anyone will be happy with the chars is if they're from good 'ol SF2. Everyone hated the chars of third strike but damn if I don't love that game.
yep sambo it is
@shindokie i'm not a fan of the character, i haven't tried the game yet
@Aethyr: Nagh, this guy looks allot more like a Capcom character than Viper. His design isn't flashy, doesn't look like he just came off a runway and he's bulky as hell. Fit's right next to Alex, Balrog and Sagat.
@Kirbytheslayer: Hot Tears of Shame for Life!: Dude I think I just died a little on the inside.
@mossberg: then again nobody has...
@Kenofthedead: Lol that's what I was thinking when I saw him. That or an MMA fighter.
@Kirbytheslayer: Hot Tears of Shame for Life!: GORO!
@Kirbytheslayer: Hot Tears of Shame for Life!: Seeing your constant use of MS Paint brightens up my day. I might need to get a photobucket account.
@Fadakar: I was joking :)
@mossberg: Ohh your talking about the guy i thought you emant the game. Either way hug its V-day!
And I though the old street fighter characters were large this guy something else.
Time to start an unfounded rumour, yes! This guy eventually becomes Q from SF3! :D
@Kirbytheslayer: Hot Tears of Shame for Life!:
kinda looks like machamp.
capcom sure does have a thong for buff blondes >_>
Terrible character designs are terrible.
@SHINDOKIE for the most part i really like the art style for the game so far(except the this new able guy)
these graphics certainly are highly defined.
and that's about as positive as i can get about them.
rofl guys, read the translated blog post linked to by Mike- it describes a dev meeting as a "sausage party."
@Kirbytheslayer: Hot Tears of Shame for Life!: That's excellent. Screw Street Fighter, he belongs in the next Mortal Kombat. Seriously. Hidden character material.
He doesn't look too happy.
@locusta:
"Mr. Incredible?"
That, or monster Geese in shorts... yes, monster Geese, everyone knows about "Monster Geese", you heard it hear first.
@ratba:
"I, which is me, not everybody, just me, personally, somewhat disliked the chars of third strike but damn if I don't love that game."
fixed!
@king0v10GU: Freudian slip?
@Yalecsa: Nah, Q is Bison resurrected!
Finally a character who looks like a fighter and people call him generic, boring design, doesn't look like past Street Fighters. Then there's Capcom's attempt at a unique design (Viper) and people say she looks like SNK.
Hopefully SF fans don't turn into Smash fans and keep demanding for Sakura, Makoto, Ibuki, Karin, etc while ignoring other parts of the game such as balance. As long as their favourite character is included they are happy.
I'm glad fans don't have much of a say when it comes to game development. If they did you'd be playing characters like Ridley, Krystal and Megaman, right?
In the 1st pic. It looks like Abel is biting Ryu's leg.
Is this the only stage in the game???
Looks like hes got some Sean moves.. with Alex physique. Im getting excited for this game =D
I know not of his past, but I know his future. After SF4, he moves to Brazil, looses a bit of height and buffness, gets a deep tan, wears mismatched gis, and becomes Ken's disciple while getting his arse thrashed in every tournament he enters, while being mocked my Ken behind his back.
I wonder if they'll let Sean have the broken version of the Dragon upper in SF4...
Gotta say I'm not a fan of the art style for this game, I'll save my judgement until I get a chance to play it tho ;)
I still say he looks terribly, terribly bearishly gay (anyone else, back me up here if you think so). Through the short-shorts, the bulge in the crotch (freeballing) and ripped exposed muscles.
While at the same time, he looks like a fun character to play with! :)
I really hope one of his special moves is the Soccer Slam.
@frostcircus: Well put!
Is that Sheng Long in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
Looks more like a character from Rival Schools.
This game looks more...visceral...than past SFs.
And that's good.
It's Chris Masters, Ken Masters' long lost brother. Holy shit it all makes sense now!
@Junker: You kidding me? Rival Schools had awesome designs. Awesome and Abel do not belong in the same category.
@huginn: Bears are HAIRY. Like a Bear. Also. Which street fighter character doesn't have rippling muscles?
I see they finally decided to put me in the game!
